Introduction

Welcome to the Scott Pilgrim EX Trophy Guide! Scott Pilgrim EX is a brand new Scott Pilgrim game, with the last game being released on the PS3 in 2010. Unlike the first game with linear levels, Scott Pilgrim EX has an open world, and more of it unlocks as you progress through the story.

Step 1: Complete the tutorial, then play the game on the easiest difficulty without dying

First, before starting the game, play the tutorial and earn Git Gud  trophy. Then you’ll want to play the game on the easiest difficulty and do your best not to die. If you do end up dying, you’ll have to do an 8th playthrough, but don’t worry too much, you’ll be able to clear the game pretty quickly once you know where to go. Be sure to check trophy 1CC for tips on survivability. Clearing the game without dying will earn you trophy 1CC and You Saved Toronto! trophy.

Step 2: Continue from your cleared save, then complete all events and collectibles

After beating the game, use your “clear save” for the cleanup. In this step, you’ll want to use our Event Location Guide and Collectible Guide in order to earn Assistance Needed trophy and Sidetracked trophy. After you’ve done this, you can go for the miscellaneous trophies like Action Movie Trope trophy, Kung-Fu Master trophy, Trick Shot trophy, Play Ball! trophy, Shady Business trophy, Team Gideon trophy, and Beach Ball Bowling Anybody? trophy.

Step 3: Speedrun

Before starting your second playthrough, load up your cleared save, swap to the character you plan to use for this playthrough and upgrade their stats at shops as much as possible. This will allow you to speed through the game on New Game+. Strength and Vitality should be maxed out, Willpower and Agility are less important, but still nice to have. Maxing a stat will earn you Proficiency trophy. Make sure you use a different character from your first playthrough as you need to beat the game with 7 different characters. Beating the game in under 90 minutes will earn you Speedrun trophy. Once you get to the final boss, use Stephen Stills assist to defeat him without taking a hit so you can also earn Perfect trophy. If you mess up and miss this, keep trying for it at the end of your next 5 playthroughs.

Step 4: Boss Trophies

Your third playthrough will be dedicated to earning all of the missable boss trophies. The main one being Tag Team trophy. Note that Metal Scott will not count towards boss trophies. Once you get to the Quest 2 boss, finish it with Young Neil assist to earn Fan Support trophy. After beating Quest 2, swap to a new character, and keep doing this every time you beat a main story boss that isn’t Metal Scott until you earn Tag Team trophy. If you are having trouble beating any bosses, be sure to upgrade your stats a little with the character you are using. After earning Tag Team trophy swap to a character that you didn’t use on your first or second playthrough for the rest of the game so you can get their ending. Be sure to go for Perfect trophy at the end of this run if you still need it. If you mess up you can quit out and try again, but since you’ll still need to do 4 playthroughs, you might as well only do this if you still don’t have it by the end of your last playthrough.

Step 5: 4th run with Co-op trophies

Your fourth playthrough will involve earning some co-op trophies. You don’t need a second controller for the whole run, just use one from the start until you earn Friendship! trophy. Afterwards, head to the house that lets you change characters, and swap to Scott and Ramona in order to earn Valentine’s Day trophy and Spare Change trophy, then jump on the other player’s head and let them walk around so you can earn Need a Lift? trophy.

If Maverick Hunter trophy and Ninja Unmasked trophy are bugged for you, you can earn them on this playthrough with the second controller. For the rest of the run, use a character you haven’t used yet so you can earn your 4th ending.

Step 6: Last 3 playthroughs

Your final step will be completing your last 3 playthroughs with the characters you haven’t earned the ending for yet, you should have lots of money now, so you can buy everything at the shops, earning Badger trophy, Walk-In Closet trophy, and Nutrition Facts trophy. If you still need money, the Fridge Magnet and Big Nickel are useful items to help you get more money. Be sure to use our Shop Guide so you know where to find all the shops. After earning your final ending you will earn Grand Finale trophy and if you beat your first playthrough without dying, you’ll also earn Best Fighter in the Province trophy.

Step 7: Cleanup

If you are still missing 1CC trophy, start a brand new save and beat the game without dying. You should be much more familiar with the game now, so try to get your strength and vitality stats high early on so you can get through the game quickly and safely. If you are missing any other trophies by this point, be sure to go for those too and earn the Platinum!

Unlocked by defeating the final boss and clearing the game for the first time. The game contains a total of 12 Quests.

Action Movie Trope trophy
Strike an enemy with a weapon you just caught.

You can obtain this trophy by throwing an item as soon as you catch it with :o: to hit an enemy. You can get this easily on the Volleyball minigame in Quest 9, by throwing the first Volleyball at an enemy as soon as you pick it up, since picking it up while it’s bouncing a little still counts as catching it. Another way to earn this is to have a Multiplayer partner throw an item at you, catch the item, then immediately throw it at an enemy.

Fan Support trophy
Finish a boss using Young Neil’s Assist.

You unlock the Young Neil Assist by defeating Lady Envy at the end of Quest 3. Equip the Young Neil Assist in the Touchpad menu, then get any boss down to around 5% HP and use the assist with :l1: until the assist attack deals the finishing blow.

Valentine’s Day trophy
Play as Scott and give a heart to Ramona.

This trophy is simple, connect a second controller, and have player 1 use Scott and player 2 use Ramona. Press  while holding :l2:  to hand a heart over to Ramona and earn this trophy. You can have Ramona hand 1$ to Scott right after this to earn Spare Change trophy as well.

Spare Change trophy
Give 1$ to Scott.

Connect a second controller, and press  while holding :l2: to hand 1$ to a player who is using Scott. It’s best to have the other player use Ramona so you can earn this trophy and Valentine’s Day trophy together.

Need a Lift? trophy
Traverse an area while standing on top of another player.

When you are playing with another player, you can stand on their head while they walk around and you won’t fall off. Use a second controller, and jump on the other player’s head while they walk around to earn this trophy. It can be a little harder to jump on the head of Lucas Lee because he’s a lot taller than everyone else, so don’t try to jump on his head for this trophy.

Team Gideon trophy
Set your assist character to Gideon (cat) when playing as Gideon.

Gideon (cat) is unlocked from the start of the game, and you don’t even need to use the assist for this trophy, you just need to equip it. While playing as Gideon, equip Gideon (cat) in the Touchpad menu, and you’ll earn this trophy.

  1. Young Neil – Complete Quest 3. (Unmissable)
  2. Kim Pine – Complete Quest 5. (Unmissable)

Nutrition Facts trophy
Reveal the effects of all consumables in shops.

In shops, consumable information is hidden as “???”. When consumable items are purchased for the first time, their information will be revealed. You’ll need to purchase all consumables to earn this trophy.

Please view our Shop Locations Guide for the location of every Shop in the game.

Perfect trophy
Defeat the final boss without taking a hit.

This isn’t as hard as it sounds. With a high strength stat on Super Easy difficulty, the boss goes down in just a few hits. The best way to earn this is to enter the fight with Max Strength and Max Willpower stats. Use Stephen Stills as an assist to make yourself invincible, then hit Mecha-Gideon with one of the hammers on the floor a few times to knock him down. While he’s down, use the assist again to reapply the invincibility. Keep repeating this until you defeat him, and you’ll earn this trophy.

I Beat Metal Scott trophy
Win the first battle against Metal Scott.

You will earn this automatically after defeating the Metal Scott boss at the end of Quest 1. Keep in mind that Metal Scott doesn’t count towards boss trophies such as Tag Team trophy.

Badger trophy
Own all badges

Badges can be purchased at shops, you’ll need to purchase all badges to earn this trophy.

Refer to the Shop Locations Guide for the location of every Shop in the game.

Friendship! trophy
Complete a Quest in Multiplayer using only Lucas and Gideon

To earn this trophy, you’ll need to beat any quest from start to finish with exactly 2 players. Have one player play as Gideon, and another play as Lucas Lee, and beat the entire quest in a single session without swapping players or quitting to earn this trophy.

Kung-Fu Master trophy
Clear an area of all its enemies without taking a hit.

This trophy isn’t as hard as it seems, you can use ranged attacks as certain characters like Robot-01, or assists that do damage like Young Neil’s to clear out all the enemies in an area. You’ll probably earn this one naturally, as certain areas have a low number of enemies in them. A good place to earn this is the Warehouse, as when you enter, there is a chance that it will be either empty, or only 5 Robots will spawn. You can keep exiting and re-entering until you see the robots spawn, then just carefully take them out without being hit.

1CC trophy
Clear the game without getting KO.

This trophy is glitched and will only unlock if you beat your very first playthrough without dying. Be sure to do this on a fresh save.

You can play on the easiest difficulty for this trophy so it isn’t as hard as it sounds. Be sure to spend money on increasing your Strength and Vitality stats to help with your survivability, and buy a food item “To Go” which will Revive you once upon death. Be sure to heal at shops as often as possible, and be careful and patient in the final boss fight, use the Stephen Stills assist for invincibility if you need it.

Speedrun trophy
Clear the game in 90 minutes or less.

The easiest way to beat the game in 90 minutes or less is to start a game on a New Game+ on Very Easy with a character that you have maxed out or high stats for. When you start the game, just run to each objective, ignoring any fights that aren’t mandatory. The time isn’t too strict if you start out with a maxed out character, and you can end up with about 15 minutes left to spare.

After beating the game, but before starting a New Game+ you can continue from your cleared save to upgrade the character you plan to use for this trophy. First, change characters by entering the house on the right side of the Suburbs, then upgrade their stats at No-Account Video in the Shopping District.

Maverick Hunter trophy
Defeat 100 robots while playing as Robot-01.

This trophy is glitched and will only unlock if player 2 plays as Robot-01 defeats 100 Robots in Co-op.

Throughout the game there are three types of gangs: The Vegans, The Demons, and the Robots. Defeating any Robots will count for this trophy. If you need a good spot to continuously defeat robots, you can exit and re-enter the Underground Lab area during Quest 12 where they will sometimes spawn. Don’t farm robots in the elevator room, as they won’t count towards the trophy if they fall off the elevator.

Ninja Unmasked trophy
Play as Roxie and defeat the Ninja.

This trophy is glitched and will only unlock if player 2 plays as Roxie and defeats the Ninja in Co-op.

Starting from Quest 6, you can find a Ninja in High Park who will run away, and then fight you when you talk to them again at the Studio Gates. Defeat this Ninja with Roxie to earn the trophy. see Event #12 in our Event Locations Guide for more information.

Trick Shot trophy
Knock down 4 enemies in a row by throwing a single turnip.

Turnips have a chance to be found underground as well as on the floor in numerous locations, one of those areas being the Ice Age area. Pick up a turnip and throw it at a big group of enemies and you’ll earn this trophy. It should also be noted that if an enemy happens to throw a turnip at 4 other enemies, you’ll still earn this trophy. Your strength stat will increase your throwing distance, making this trophy easier. A good spot to earn this is by playing the optional battle behind the cracked bombable wall in the shopping area, as lots of enemies spawn in this battle, though you can only play this battle once per playthrough.

Play Ball! trophy
Hit a flying volleyball with a baseball bat.

The easiest place to get this trophy is in High Park, as a Baseball Bat and Volleyball have a chance to spawn right next to each other at the entrance. If they don’t spawn, keep exiting and re-entering the area until they do. Pick up the Baseball bat and hit the volleyball against the wall to bounce it in the air, then hit the volleyball with the bat again while it’s in midair to earn the trophy. You can also earn this by having a multiplayer partner throw the ball at you so you can hit it with the bat.

Shady Business trophy
Discover a hidden shop.

There is a hidden shop located in the Underpass against the wall that isn’t covered by a barrier.

Refer to the Shop Locations Guide for the location of every Shop in the game.

Tag Team trophy
Beat 7 different bosses using 7 different characters during the same playthrough

There are a total of 13 bosses in the game, 12 of those bosses being at the end of each of the 12 quests. Keep in mind that the fights against Metal Scott will not count towards this trophy. The best way to earn this trophy is to swap characters every time you defeat a boss that isn’t Metal Scott. It’s better to change characters after the earlier fights rather than later ones because you’ll need higher stats to defeat the last few bosses.

To change characters, you have to enter the house on the right side of the Suburbs.

Here is a list of all boss fights:

Quest 1: Metal Scott
Quest 2: Saurotodd
Quest 3: Lady Envy
Quest 4: Phantom Twin
Quest 5: Super Simon Lee
Quest 6 (halfway through): Metal Scott
Quest 6 Baby G
Quest 7 Big Band Matty
Quest 8 Gideona
Quest 9 Steamtrain Luke
Quest 10 Gordeon
Quest 11 Metal Scott
Quest 12 Mecha-Gideon

Walk-In Closet trophy
Own all accessories.

Accessories can be purchased at shops, you’ll need to purchase all accessories to earn this trophy.

Refer to the Shop Locations Guide for the location of every Shop in the game.

Beach Ball Bowling Anybody? trophy
Carry a beach ball to the final boss area.

The final boss area can be reached in Quest 12, keep in mind that the first time you enter the rift to the location, you’ll drop the item you were holding, so enter the rift once, then leave and return with a Beach Ball. This area isn’t a point of no return, because you won’t fight the boss until you collect the 3 gems and talk to Wallace, and even after beating the game you can still return here. The final Boss area is located at the top right of the map. The warehouse is a good nearby location to get a Beach Ball as there is a 50% chance one will spawn upon entering. The Beach Ball will spawn from the right side of the Warehouse, so keep exiting and re-entering until it spawns, and then take the Beach Ball to the final boss area.

Green Tunic trophy
Use a bomb to discover a secret area.

The easiest secret area to find is behind the cracked wall to the very left of the Shopping Area. Bombs are unlocked during Quest 2. Throw $1 into a bomb machine to obtain a bomb, then throw the bomb towards the cracked wall to explode it, opening the secret area. You can find a bomb machine at “The Beaches” area. At around Quest 8 onwards, you can also find a red bomb in Annex Alley, this bomb will explode as soon as you punch it, so it’s a little easier to explode walls with if you have trouble throwing the regular bomb too far. Keep in mind that the Annex Alley bomb isn’t guaranteed to spawn, so if you want to use that one, you might need to keep exiting and re-entering the area until it does spawn. If you do a throw while jumping without inputting :left: or :right: you’ll throw a bomb less far of a distance than you would if you threw one while standing.
