Wondering how long is a playthrough in The Quarry? This guide explains the game length you can expect. It can range from 6-10 hours depending on how thorough you are and how many characters survive.
- 10 hours or slightly more for a thorough playthrough, exploring for collectibles and clues and trying to keep everyone alive
- 6-8 hours if you kill off all characters as early as possible and don’t explore the environment
Most players can expect their first playthrough to last for about 10 hours (+/- 1 hour). Given it’s a cinematic game and you can’t skip cutscenes you can’t speed it up very much. On a 2nd playthrough you can cut down on time by ignoring interactable objects in the environment. Killing a character also cuts down the time because you wouldn’t play as those characters in future chapters, wouldn’t get their dialogues anymore etc.
The game has 10 Chapters plus a Prologue and Epilogue. On average the Chapters last 40-60 minutes. Only a few last well over an hour and a few are 30 minutes or less, but if you’d average them out it’d be just under an hour per chapter.
You walk faster in the game by holding L1 / LB / Shift (PC). This increases the walking speed by roughly 50%. However, since most of the game is cutscenes it’s of limited use. Even when replaying the game via chapter select the cutscenes are unskippable.
It’s also worth noting there is a special “Movie Mode”. This mode picks all decisions for you and cuts out the walking completely. Depending on whether you choose the Movie Mode for having everyone die or having everyone survive it takes around 6 hours in that mode, however it does usually pick up most collectibles which adds to the time. You could beat it in about the same time by playing yourself with walking between cutscenes but ignoring all collectibles.
