A Plague Tale: Innocence – Chapter 8 Our Home Walkthrough

Our Home is Chapter 8 in A Plague Tale: Innocence. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of Chapter 8 “Our Home”.

Follow Hugo Underground

Safe at the Chateau, Hugo has seized the opportunity to do some exploring and has found some exciting things to show Amicia. To begin with, walk through the door where Hugo is waiting for you, but before going down the stairs there’s a collectible (Curiosity 15 – Iconography) we need to grab. Instead of following Hugo to Lucas’s laboratory, take a sharp right. On the stairs, among some grass, is the collectible.

Next, follow Hugo, but don’t enter Lucas’s laboratory yet. Instead, keep walking down the stairs until you get to a large tomb. Here you will unlock the chapter-specific trophy  Tribute.

Go back up and this time you can enter Lucas’s laboratory. When you enter the lab, take a moment to grab some materials. There’s quite a lot here. As we grab what we can, Lucas asks for our help as he concocts a new elixir.

Help Lucas With the Elixir

Lucas needs a candle, a phial, and concentrated laurel sap. While Hugo takes care of the candle, our job is to get the phial and the concentrated laurel sap. The phial is on the table found in the left of the room. Grab it and set it next to Lucas. Next, grab the laurel sap which is on the table right behind Lucas.

We then find out that Lucas is trying to create an elixir for the bearer of the Prima Macula. Amicia and Hugo leave the room, allowing Lucas to rest for a bit.

Follow Hugo to the Ramparts

Follow Hugo back to the Great Hall of the castle and then to one of the areas that were previously inaccessible. Before going further upstairs with Hugo, take a sharp left as soon as you walk through the door. On the ground, you’ll find a collectible (Gift 8 – Alchemical Crucible).

Then, go up the stairs and share a moment with your little brother by echoing in the distance.

Next, choose if you want to talk to Melie or not. It’s not an objective, so it may not be mandatory. Behind the barrel next to Melie is a collectible (Curiosity 16 – Bird Language Manual) we need to grab before heading back down.

Inspect the Symbol in the Great Hall

Follow Hugo back down to the Great Hall to inspect the symbol on the floor that looks exactly like the pillars in the courtyard, the Alchemist Coat of Arms.

Then, follow Hugo to the other previously inaccessible area. Shortly after entering this area, Amicia decides to hang her necklace to a tree branch in memory of their family. Hugo follows suit.

While Hugo is sorry for being sick, Amicia reassures him that together with Lucas’s and Melie’s help, they’ll find a way to cure him.

However, the Prima Macula is spreading quickly through Hugo’s blood and it seems he’s nearing the First Threshold. Lucas tells Amicia about a way to slow down the effects of the Macula, but regrettably making the elixir is beyond his area of expertise. There’s a book, though, the Sanguinis Itinera, that contains the knowledge to prepare such elixir.

However, Lucas says it’s nearly impossible to get your hands on the book, as it’s sealed away in the University of the bordering town. He advises Amicia against this “suicidal” mission, but Amicia is more than determined, ready to take advantage of the current chaos to easily gain access to the university and give Hugo a chance to survive. Melie knows how to get to the placed is willing to help us once more.

Join Melie in the Great Hall to Leave With Her

Before joining Melie in the Great Hall, there’s one last collectible (Herbarium 5 – St John’s Wort) we need to grab. After the cutscene, you’ll find Hugo sitting next to it. When you’re ready to leave, talk to Melie to conclude this chapter.

This concludes Chapter 8 “Our Home” in A Plague Tale: Innocence. Now Chapter 9 “In The Shadow of the Ramparts” starts.
