Chapter 3 in Black Myth Wukong contains a secret side quest for a Prisoner NPC. To finish this, you must collect all 4 Captain Spirits throughout Chapter 3, then deliver them to the prisoner.

Quest Start:
The prisoner is found in the second prison cell at the start of Pagoda Realm (before “Lower Pagoda” shrine). You can talk to him through the locked gate. However, this is optional, the Captains spawn regardless. Now you must collect the 4 Captain Spirits.
Captain Spirit Locations:
- Captain Lotus-Vision: Pagoda Realm > Upper Pagoda: From this shrine turn around. Directly across from the shrine, drop down the cliff and you’ll reach this hidden boss in a prison cell. Collect his golden spirit afterward.
- The Spirit of Captain Wise-Voice: Dropped by Captain Wise-Voice, automatic story boss at Pagoda Realm > Mani Wheel.
- The Spirit of Captain Void-Illusion: Valley of Ecstasy > Longevity Road – From this shrine turn to the right to find the corpse of a colossus at the edge of the area, interact with it to get this item. This isn’t dropped by a boss, must be collected in the world.
- The Spirit of Captain Kalpa-Wave: Dropped by Captain Kalpa-Wave, automatic story boss at Valley of Ecstasy > Longevity Road.
Quest End & Rewards:
Return to the NPC in the prison cell at Lower Pagoda and give him the 4 Captain Spirits. He gives you the “Chubai Spearhead” material for weapon crafting. Also pull out the sword from the dead animal next to him to get the Transformation Spell “Ashen Slumber“.

For some reason the dead rat captain would not be in this cell, but you can find him and fight him in the middle pagoda, it’s my fourth play-through and I finally get the fickle forms trophy done

This Happens If you finished the Prisoner’s quest before telling the rats in the house at the Village in Chapter 2 it’s okay to leave(after killing First Prince). its makes sense because Third Prince is the one that kills the rats so if he’s dead they will still be alive.
