Dragon’s Dogma 2 How to Change Vocation (Character Class)

March 21, 2024 by PowerPyx Leave a Comment

In Dragon’s Dogma 2 you can change your vocation (character class) at any time. This can be done at the inn in Melve, or at Vocation Guilds found in the major towns. You can also change the Vocation of your Main Pawn, the ally that follows you around. However, some of the late-game vocations are only usable by you and cannot be equipped to the pawn.

For unlocking all vocations refer to How to Unlock All Vocations.

How to Change Vocation in Dragon’s Dogma 2

  • Option 1: At the Inn in Melve. This town is found early in the game. The main story will force you to go to the inn where you are introduced to changing vocations.
  • Option 2: At Guild Hall in Vernworth. This is the big capital city in the northern half of the map. The Vernworth Vocation Guild is the next building west from Stardrop Inn.
  • Option 3: At Guild Hall in Bakbattahl. This is the big capital city in the southern half of the map. You go there for story purposes.

Note that you can change your actively equipped skills at any campfire too if you have a camping kit (can be bought from merchants or found in the world). However, you can’t unlock new skills at campfires and can’t change your vocation.

You unlock new skills for your vocation by ranking up. This is done by simply playing as one vocation and defeating enemies which will earn you “DEP”, the currency with which you buy new skills. The higher your vocation rank, the more skills you will have available at the Guild Halls. The first time you unlock a new vocation it will cost a small fee of 100-200 DEP. But you only need to pay the fee once and get a the full starting set for that class in return. Note that all weapons/armor are bound to certain classes, so don’t just sell everything. If you don’t plan on continuing with a class, put its gear in storage, this way you can grab the gear again later if you want to change back to that class. Almost every town has an inn that offers you to access your storage, the contents of the storage are shared worldwide at all inns.
