Introduction

Welcome to the Sea of Solitude Trophy Guide! Loosely based on the biography of its creator, Cornelia Geppert, in Sea of Solitude you play as Kay, a young girl who has seemingly fallen into depression after experiencing many negatively defining moments in her personal life. As you navigate through a submerged city reminding us of Berlin, Kay retraces her life to find out why she has turned into a red-eyed monster. Chronicled by Kay’s family members, Kay, and the player, learn about the power of empathy through a story that gives hope to everyone struggling to find the light at the end of the tunnel.

Step 1: Play through the Story & get All Collectibles (Seagulls, Bottled Messages)

In Sea of Solitude, nothing is missable thanks to Chapter Select. In addition to some story-related and miscellaneous chapter-specific trophies, the game also has collectible types: Seagulls and Bottled Messages. In order to spare yourself from a lot of chapter replays, you should get all of these collectibles on your first playthrough – this is the priority on your playthrough and the fastest way to platinum!

Follow the Sea of Solitude All Collectible Locations Guide as you play through the game (this is an all-in-one guide with everything in chronological order).

Also make sure to be killed 20 times by the monster whale, 10 times by the water hands, and to shoot at least 30 flares.

As you play through the story keep this page and the collectibles guide on two separate tabs and keep switching back and forth to know what to do for the next trophy or collectible. The best way to go about this is to give the trophy guide a read first, then you’ll remember what to do when you reach the trophy-related sections. After this simply follow the collectible guide, and if you do miss a trophy it’s no big deal as you can quickly get it via chapter select.

(Optional) Step 2: Clean-Up

This step is optional. In case you missed a trophy or collectible you can use Chapter Select to mop up what you have left. Congratulations on your new Platinum!

Fire!
Fired the first flare
See trophy “Seeker”.
Connected
Connect with mirror Kay for the first time
Automatic story-related trophy, cannot be missed.
Comfy
Respawned on couch in Skyscraper
In Chapter 6 you will have to climb a skyscraper where Dad’s office is and where Dad is waiting for you in the guise of a chameleon. At some point you will have to go down some long ladders and then climb up a stony path. To its right is a couch. Climb up the stony path and let the ventilation shaft blow you away. You’ll get killed and respawn on the above-mentioned couch, then the trophy unlocks.
Raver
Got grabbed by waterhands 10 times
At the beginning of Chapter 3, you will be greeted by hands coming out of the water. To unlock this trophy, simply jump into the water and have the hands kill you for a total of 10 times.
Deep dive
Jumped headfirst into the water from a high point
Automatic story-related unlock. This trophy should unlock early in Chapter 1. To jump down a tall building headfirst, simply press and hold :x: while mid-air.
Seeker
Fired 30 flares
Immediately after meeting with Glowy, you will be able to fire flares using :l2: . Firing a flare is really quick, so you can get this trophy out of the way immediately if you so choose. No need to grind this either, since you will have to fire loads of flares throughout the story, so this trophy may actually unlock naturally. If you haven’t unlocked it by the time you reach Chapter 12, keep pressing :l2: until the trophy pops. Remember that firing flares is also the most effective way to know where to go next.
Human Bait
Eaten by Whale 20 times
When the world around you gets dark, it means that the monster whale is around in the water. You can work on this trophy in unison with :gold: Danger Swimmer. Shortly after the beginning of Chapter 1, you will come across the monster whale. Jump in the water and start swimming (you can swim faster by holding down :x: ). The whale will eat you shortly after, unless you make it safely to land. Rinse and repeat until you get both trophies. It should be noted that there is no need to necessarily grind this as soon as you meet the whale. You will encounter the whale on multiple occasions throughout the game and you will probably be killed a couple of times (the whale swims faster than Kay), so this trophy may very well unlock naturally. If not, reload Chapter 1 and get killed by the monster until you unlock the trophy.
Mermaid
Swam a very long distance
One of the way Kay can traverse through each chapter is by swimming. You will most likely unlock this trophy naturally. However, if by the time you’ve reached Chapter 12 you haven’t unlocked it yet, swim for a while in the water. It should pop shortly after.
Runaway
Travelled very far by foot
One of the way Kay can traverse through each chapter is by platforming. You will most likely unlock this trophy naturally. However, if by the time you’ve reached Chapter 12 you haven’t unlocked it yet, run on the beach for a while. It should pop shortly after.
Sailor
Travelled a long distance by boat
One of the way Kay can traverse through each chapter is by steering a motorboat. You will most likely unlock this trophy naturally. However, if by the time you’ve reached Chapter 12 you haven’t unlocked it yet, reload the first act in Chapter 4 wherein you can freely use the boat. Use it for a while and it should pop shortly after.
Danger swimmer
Swam long distance while whale was around
When the world around you gets dark, it means that the monster whale is around in the water. You can work on this trophy in unison with :silver: Human Bait. You will encounter the whale on multiple occasions throughout the game and you will have to swim past it as well, so this trophy may very well unlock naturally.
School’s out
Made it through school
Automatic story-related trophy, cannot be missed. The trophy will unlock after getting rid of the bullies at the end of Chapter 3.
Moses
Opened a path through water
Automatic story-related trophy, cannot be missed. The trophy will unlock halfway through Chapter 2.
Sunny
Finished Level 1
Automatic story-related trophy, cannot be missed. The trophy pops when you finish Sunny’s story arc.
Lonely at the top
Reached top of the Skyscraper
Automatic story-related trophy, cannot be missed. The trophy pops when you reach the top of the skyscraper at the end of Chapter 6.
Mama and Papa
Finished Level 2
Automatic story-related trophy, cannot be missed. The trophy pops when you reach the end of Mama’s and Papa’s story arc.
Breakdown
Finished Level 3
Automatic story-related trophy, cannot be missed. The trophy pops when you reach the end of Jack’s story arc.
Resolve
Finished the game
Automatic story-related trophy, cannot be missed. The trophy pops when you reach the end of the game, after walking past the acknowledgments and climbing up the beach stairs. This also concludes Kay’s story arc.

For Danger Swimmer if you load up Chapter 2: Danger Water and turn around there is a small section of water surrounded by buildings you can swim around in where the whale can’t reach you but is close enough to count towards the achievement.
