Outlast 2 All Battery Locations

In Outlast 2 Batteries are used to power your camera so you can use night vision and the microphone. This guide shows all possible battery locations based on normal difficulty. Please note that higher difficulties have fewer batteries (but the ones that do spawn show up in the same places). Knowing where the batteries are is very useful for exploration and finding other collectibles.

There’s also a trophy and achievement “Them That Hath Ears” that requires you to use the microphone for 20 minutes. It will take many batteries to get this much microphone time.

Also keep in mind that there’s a limit to how many batteries you can carry. If your inventory is full they will stop spawning and no further batteries can be picked until you use another one.

This list is based on normal difficulty. Higher difficulties have fewer batteries!

Chapter: Genesis

Objective: Find Lynn

  1. When you reach the village check the first house on the right side. Inside you’ll find the first Outlast 2 battery location. There’s also a document nearby.
  2. After going through a dark cellar you have to crawl under a fence to progress to the next area. Here you’ll come to a wooden shack with a battery inside (same area where you encounter the witch boss)
  3. Same area as before – where you enter the witch there’s a house on the left side. Open the window of that house and climb inside to find a battery location and a bandage.

  4. After reuniting with Lynn and escaping the cultists you are teleported into a school building. After exiting the class rooms you come to a long corridor. There are signs hanging above the corridor. Look for the one that says “Kindness” and enter the room to the right side of it. There’s a TV on a cart that can be pushed out of the way to reach a battery.
  5. Still in the same school building – go out to the corridor again but this time look for the sign that says “Self-Esteem”. On the right side of it is a class room with a battery on the teacher’s desk.
  6. Same corridor as before – look for the sign that says “Confidence”. To the right of it is a women’s room. On the floor by the toilet is a battery.
    Objective: Get to the chapel
  7. After the witch murders the peasant who took you in, check the right corner of the cottage before leaving.
  8. Immediately after leaving the cottage from the last battery location you come to a flooded rocky area with some street lamps. In the far left corner at the start of the area is another battery.
  9. Exact same area as before, just a few meters in the different direction. There’s a little wooden bridge with a street lamp. Here on a bench is a battery.
  10. When you go through the cornfields (where many enemies are searching for you with flashlights) there’s a windmill in the middle of the area. Under the windmill is a battery and bandage.
  11. There’s yet another battery in the cornfield area by a broken handcart. It’s on the outer edge of the area. There are multiple broken handcarts, the one you’re looking for is at a fence facing a chasm. Just go around the edge of the cornfield until you run into it.
    Objective: Get through the barn
  12. On the lower floor of the barn, there’s a side room with a battery and bandage location inside.
    Objective: Find a path to the village
  13. After the flash of light kills all birds (unmissable story event) there’s a corpse in the water with a battery next to it (just before climbing up the rocks).
  14. Just after the last battery you climb up the rocks and slide down into a cave. There’s a big straw effigy hanging on the wall and underneath it is a corpse with a battery next to it.
    Objective: Get to the chapel
  15. A little while after the last battery you reach a building (which you must enter by crawling under a broken staircase). You’ll exit this building by jumping off the balcony. Turn around and search for a battery under the balcony.
    Objective: Find a way to start the elevator
    *During this objective you must go through a little village. Each house contains a battery. For the next 6 batteries go around the village in a circle, starting with the houses to your right side and ending with the house on the left side.
  16. In the first house on the right side. There’s a battery on the cupboard.
  17. One house further up the road (with an enemy inside). Enter through the window behind the house to get past the enemy unnoticed.
  18. In the next house, it’s on the ground floor.
  19. The door of the next house is barricaded, so you must climb through the window instead.
  20. Inside the house at the northern end of the village with an enemy patrolling near it, look for a radio on the top floor with a battery next to it.
  21. In the last house of the village, in the bedroom next to a corpse.
    Objective: Investigate the Well
  22. After using the elevator but before looking into the well, run to the far back of the area to find a camera battery by a corpse.
    Objective: Find a way out of here
  23. In the dark school corridor there’s a battery on a tiny ladder.
    Objective: Get to the chapel
  24. After escaping the crazy villagers you’ll arrive in the basement of a house which contains a battery in one of the side rooms.
  25. A little while later you reach a settlement. At the end of the settlement there’s an outhouse that has a battery in it. Near it is a barrel with fire coming out of it. It’s best if you shut off night vision and look for the barrel, the outhouse is near it.
  26. After escaping the witch in the village and climbing over the fence, search the first house on the right side.

  27. The cultists will chase you out of the chapel – after escaping them you end up on a tower where a battery is located.
    Objective: Find a way to stop the water mill
  28. In the water mill there’s a room where you need to grab a cogwheel. Next to the cogwheel is a battery.
    Objective: Find a path to the mine
  29. When leaving the watermill you are hunted by one of the crazy heretics. After sliding down some rocks and losing your pursuer turn left and investigate the wooden shack at the end of the area (in the direction of the cornfields where you came from).
  30. Now head in the other direction until you reach a well-lit barn with a murdered cow on the flow. There are some planks missing (just underneath the lamp) and you can crouch to enter the barn that contains a document, battery and bandage.
    Objective: Find a way out of here
  31. On the left path check the first room. There’s a TV that you can push out of the way (press Square on PS4 / X on XB1 to interact with it). This will reveal a battery.
  32. On the middle path after solving the hangman puzzle — after being attacked by the demon a door on the right side of the corridor opens up. It leads to a computer desk with a battery on it.

    Chapter: Job

    Objective: Cross the bridge

  33. Scalled Bound: After the school dream you’ll be teleported to a hilltop. On your descent you’ll reach a broken railroad bridge. Before crossing the bridge look behind the rock at the start of the bridge.
    Objective: Find a different path to the mine
  34. Inside the house where the sick miners live. You’ll run into them automatically after jumping down a cliff. Their house is by the water. One of them is standing at the campfire upfront (they are friendly and won’t attack).
  35. Same area as before — follow the path until you run into an enemy who’s attacking you (the only hostile in the area). There’s a house where you encounter him (it’s a little bit further up the hill than the last house). You can enter the house from the back by crouching under it. Inside is battery and document.
  36. Same area — in a house further up the hill. One sick miner is sitting by a tree in front of the house, another one by the door, two are at the campfire to the right of the house.
  37. This is in a new area. After a ghoul pushes you down a mountain during a climbing section you will land by a campfire and some tents. Check the empty tent on the right side (must crawl to reach the battery).
    Objective: Find a way out of here
  38. This is during the next school dream. Exit the locker, go to the end of the hallway and take a right turn, then there are 4 rooms close together than can be explored. In room 112 B is a battery (it’s the room on the opposite side of where you interact with the computer).
  39. After interacting with the computer proceed to the next hallway that is now unlocked. Check the first room on the left (Room 114 B).
  40. Same hallway — room 119 B.
  41. Same hallway — room 122 B.
    Objective: Not available
  42. This is after surviving the crucifixion. Heal yourself with a bandage and climb up the rocks. Now follow the path until you drop down – then there’s a campfire with a bandage and battery.
  43. Same area — just a few meters from the last battery location. Check inside the hut.

  44. After surviving another school visit you are teleported back into the real world. The room you spawn in has a document, two batteries (#44 + #45) and a bandage.
  45. (See 44.)
  46. Same are as the last two batteries but in a different house.
  47. In yet another house of the same area.
  48. After being buried alive there are two batteries in the same spot near your casket (#48 + #49).
  49. (See 48.)
  50. Same area (where you were buried alive) but further up the hill. Between tall grass and some bigger stones in the middle of the uphill path.
    Objective: Find a rope to go down
  51. After the room with the missing rope (where you’re supposed to rappel down but the rope is missing), there’s a house with two enemies patrolling around it. Inside the house is a battery.
  52. Same area, in the third house (on the right side).
  53. Same area, in the fourth house (it’s a little bit to the left after the third house).
    Objective: Find a way out of here
  54. During the school visit look for a hatch on the left side of the yard (outside area, look for it on the floor). After using the hatch two batteries are on a cupboard in the short underground corridor (#54 + #55)
  55. (See 54.)
  56. There’s another hatch in the school yard, on the right side. Open it and go through the long underground corridor. At the end climb up a ladder and in the next room (cafeteria) there’s a battery.

    Chapter: Lamentations

    Objective: Find a different path to the mine

  57. After escaping the school, go downhill and look for a porch with a battery on the left side.
    Objective: Find a way to cross the lake
  58. When you reach the lake / beach check the dock on the right.
  59. Same area — this one is really well hidden. Look for a house on the left side of the area. Now huge the wall and take a swim to reach an island on the far left side of the lake. There’s a battery here.
  60. Same area — in the house by the middle dock. The door is locked so you must enter through another house and approach from the other side.
  61. In the next area where you are supposed to use the raft, there are two houses by the beach. The house on the left has a document and battery.
    Objective: Get back to your raft
  62. Immediately after your raft crashes you’ll be standing next to a tree trunk. In the tree trunk is a battery (must crawl to reach it).
  63. Shortly after the last location you must push a tree. Walk over the trunk and you’ll see a stone with blood writing saying “LOVE SET US FREE”. In front of this stone is a battery.
    Objective: Find a way out of here
  64. During the school dream, in a computer room where you can pick up a hangman drawing (after the demon has hunted you 2 times).

    Chapter: Judges

    Objective: Find a way out of here (next school visit)

  65. This is a little while after the last school visit, after you entered the mine facility. You will spawn in the school’s library. The battery is in a room on the left of the spawn point.
  66. In a side room of the big computer room (where you must interact with a PC).
    Objective: Find the mine entrance
  67. Once you leave the school, head into the next building (back in the real world) and look in the right corner of the room (very dark).
    Objective: Find a way out of here
  68. Yet again you’re inside the school. Look in the men’s room.
  69. In room 110 D.
  70. In room 207 B.
  71. In the library (while navigating through the maze of bookshelves).
    Objective: Find the mine entrance
  72. After the school sequence in the first building you are in (back in real world). At one point you’ll have to squeeze through a gap between two shelves. BEFORE squeezing through it there are two batteries in the room. They are well hidden on top of a shelf. You must climb up some wooden pallets to reach them.
  73. See last location (2 batteries in same spot next to each other).
  74. Same area as before — but AFTER squeezing through the aforementioned gap between the shelves. After that there’s a battery in the next room.
  75. After the next school sequence – the one where the demon is chasing you through the corridors and you climb out a window to save yourself. When you go back to the real world you must make some jumps and interact with a container to push it out of the way. There’s a battery in the room where you pushed the container.

    Chapter: Leviticus

    Objective: Find Lynn

  76. After entering the mine (after the elevator comes crashing down). Immediately after exiting the elevator it’s in the left corner (“Sancti Sepulchri” trophy / achievement unlocks here).
  77. After climbing down the first ladder in the mines the path will split up and you can go left, right or straight ahead. Go left and you’ll find the battery.
  78. Same area — take the path on the right. Go past the campfire with the skinned man and crouch through the next tunnel. You’ll walk straight into this battery.
  79. Just after the last battery, in the next cave section (before unlocking the door).
  80. While trying to escape from the cultist boss lady you come to a flooded area where you’re supposed to turn off some electric cables hanging in the water. Near the cables is a battery and bandage.
  81. Same flooded area — near the second power switch on a table.
  82. After escaping the cultist boss by disabling the power you have to push another mine cart. Before pushing it turn around and look for the battery at the other end of the mine.
  83. Push the aforementioned mine cart out of the way. The path behind it leads to a battery and bandage.
