Cremains of the Day is a Side Quest in Dead Island 2. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the Cremains of the Day side mission.
Starting Location: Venice Beach
Counts Towards Side Quest Completion in Region: Venice Beach
Quest Giver: W.O. Rodriguez
Requirement: Having Finished Main Quest: Plumbing the Depths
Reward: 3000XP, $500, Rare Ranged Cremator Mod
Mission Info: It took three burning pits if melted zombie corpses, but it seems Warrant Officer Rodriguez is starting to like you. You, uh, think? At the very least, she’s willing to let you in the Venice Tower for shelter and supplies now.
Objectives:
- Prepare to assault the death pits: rally at the rear exit
- Fire up the death pits x3
- Eliminate the fire-spewing hostile!
- Report back to Warrant Officer Rodriguez
- Debrief with Warrant Officer Rodriguez
Starting Location: Cremains of the Day
Prepare to assault the death pits: rally at the rear exit
Once you talked to W.O. Rodriguez you have to exit the tower.
Fire up the death pits x3
You have to fire up three death pits. The first one is right when you get out of the tower. Just throw a Molotov cocktail into each death pit.
The other two death pits are to the left and right of the first death pit.
Eliminate the fire-spewing hostile!
Once you fired up all death pits, a fire-spewing zombie will appear, just kill it.
Report back to Warrant Officer Rodriguez
Once you killed the fire zombie, get back into the tower.
Debrief with Warrant Officer Rodriguez
Just talk to W.O. Rodriguez.
This finishes Cremains of the Day Side Quest in Dead Island 2.

I completed everything for this quest on PS5, but I can’t turn it in to W. O. Rodriguez. She either disappears or is there with no ability to talk to her (the button prompt disappears).

Just so everyone knows, the requirements for obtaining this quest are inaccurate. I was able to start “cremains of the day” immediately after completing “beach offensive.” All you have to do is enter the tower to speak with W.O. Rodriguez instead of immediately moving on to “the final gauntlet.” She didn’t offer her next side quest when I completed this one though. ( although I was able to complete the quest ) You might need to complete “plumbing the depths” before she offers “diaries of the dead.”
