Introduction

Welcome to the Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth Master Vacation Pack DLC Trophy Guide! The Master Vacation Pack is a day-1 DLC included with the Deluxe & Ultimate edition of the game, or available for separate purchase. It is set up similarly to the DLC that was released after the launch of the Japanese version of Yakuza: Like a Dragon and includes NG+, Hard/Legend difficulties, an extra post-story dungeon, and some minor extras such as new swimsuits, Sujimon, and Dondoko Island guests.

Trophy wise this DLC is much easier than it was in the initial release of the prior game. The added dungeon “the Big Swell” is balanced around being played in Premium Adventure after the two main game dungeons, with the recommended level in the last sector being level 65. Legend difficulty in NG+ is also not too bad, only requiring a bit of preparation in your first playthrough before starting NG+, and a bit of extra grinding in a few spots to meet levels for story fights.

Step 1: Complete the Big Swell in your first playthrough

The Big Swell is an extra dungeon added with the Master Vacation Pack, similar to the Hawaiian Haunt and Yokohama Underground from the main game. If you are worried this will be like the final dungeon in the prior game you don’t need to worry, as it is balanced much more fairly and doesn’t require setup or a ton of grinding. The recommended level maxes out at level 65 in the final sector, so you can complete this while working on the trophy from the main game for Kasuga reaching level 70.

Step 2 (Optional but Recommended): Preparing for NG+ Legend playthrough

After completing the dungeon you could jump right in New Game+, but there are some recommendations on how you can spend a bit of time in your first playthrough to make the Legend playthrough easier.

  • After completing the Big Swell dungeon, spend some extra time grinding it to be close to level 75. This will make the initial parts of the Legend playthrough easier, as well as give some time to easily level jobs.
  • While grinding this you want to try and craft/upgrade every character’s base job best weapon, and upgrade it to as close to +50 as you can. Due to the issue of drops not being adjusted in NG+ you’re not going to be able to upgrade anybody’s weapons during that playthrough, so it is much easier to just grind that before going into NG+ and make sure you’re set up. Prioritize the weapons for Nanba, Seonhee, Saeko, and Zhao.
  • Make sure you have somewhat leveled Kasuga’s Freelancer job if you didn’t use it anymore during the first playthrough, as you will be forced to use it for the first part of NG+ and having the extra skills is helpful.
  • Make sure every character has at least 1 healing skill on them. This will make the playthrough much easier and is more or less required by the end of the playthrough, so while grinding Big Swell you can get this done ahead of time. Male characters can use the healing skills from the Aquanaut job, and Females can use the healing skills from the Idol job.
  • Make sure you have a number of the Battle Items such as Rocket Launchers. You will want these for the fight early in the playthrough where Kasuga is changed to the Hero class through the story Events. If you’ve used these during your playthrough and don’t have many you can purchase some from the Aloha Links character Bill who walks around the park south of Sakura St., or from Qing Long Chinese Market located in the northwest corner of Hawaii.

Step 3: Complete NG+ on Legend difficulty, keeping a save before the final boss

Now when you’re ready, select New Game+ from the main menu using your Premium Adventure save and start a playthrough on Legend. Legend isn’t a huge jump-up that you need to overly grind before starting, just follow the above recommendations. You can check out some specific tips for the harder spots in the playthrough under trophy We’re Definitely the Best!.

Important: When you reach the end of the game make a save before the final boss, don’t overwrite that save when you complete the game.

NOTE: The requirement for this trophy is only actually that you beat the final boss on Legend, how you play through the rest of the game doesn’t matter, and you can raise and lower the difficulty as much as you want. It is still recommended you play through most of the game on Legend though, as  NG+ is not scaled aside from on Hard/Legend, and if you played through to the very end on normal you would need to do a bunch of extra grinding before entering the final dungeon as Kiryu to be leveled specifically for the final boss. To save time though you can drop the difficulty to normal in the Kasuga chapter’s after Kiryu leaves the party, as the levels of Kasuga’s party no longer matter at that point.

Step 4: Reload your save before the final boss, complete the ending on Hard difficulty

The difficulty trophies in this DLC don’t stack, but as long as you’ve kept that final save you can just reload it, drop the difficulty to Hard from the settings menu, and then complete the final boss once more to earn your final trophy.

The difficulty trophies in this DLC don’t stack, so if you are following the recommended Roadmap steps you will complete this after your Legend playthrough by reloading the save made right before the final boss. On Hard the final boss is level 75, so will be a pushover after completing your Legend playthrough.

This trophy is awarded for beating the final boss in a New Game+ playthrough on Legend difficulty.

As noted in the roadmap only beating the final boss on Legend is required for this trophy, and you can raise and lower the difficulty as much as you want during the playthrough. It is still recommended to actively play on Legend through most of the playthrough when Kiryu is in the party, as you still need to be leveled for the final dungeon to be able to beat the final boss. To save time you can drop the difficulty to Normal in Kasuga’s chapters when Kiryu is no longer in the party, along with the below-mentioned pain points as Kiryu aside from the final boss. If you are dropping the difficulty as Kiryu you will likely need to do a bit of extra grinding before the final dungeon, as you wouldn’t have done it during Chapter 10/12 for those bosses. Other recommendations are still the same if you are going this route.

The Legend playthrough is the hardest overall trophy in the game with the DLC, though it’s not too bad with a little preparation and then specific grinding at certain points. There aren’t any actual content changes in NG+/Legend, so you can largely use your knowledge of enemy weaknesses and strategies for the entire game.

Specific notes about NG+/Legend:

  • NG+ does not change any of the item drops or add any new gear to the playthrough. This means that enemies you were getting base-level upgrade materials from in the first playthrough will still give those in NG+, you just get more XP due to the enemies being higher level.
  • Legend is basically just a flat level increase over Normal difficulty with no added mechanics. This means that the only real change is that enemies can hit a lot harder.

Before starting the Legend playthrough:

  • Complete the Big Swell, then spend some extra time grinding it to be close to level 75. This will make the initial parts of the playthrough easier, as well as give some time to easily level jobs.
  • While grinding this you want to try and craft/upgrade every character’s base job best weapon, and upgrade it to as close to +50 as you can. Due to the issue of drops not being adjusted in NG+ you’re not going to be able to upgrade anybody’s weapons during your playthrough, so it is much easier to just grind that before going into NG+ and make sure you’re set up. Prioritize the weapons for Nanba, Seonhee, Saeko, and Zhao.
  • Make sure you have somewhat leveled Kasuga’s Freelancer job if you didn’t use it anymore during the first playthrough, as you will be forced to use it for the first part of NG+, and having the extra skills is helpful.

Pain points during the Legend playthrough:

Chapter 1: Kasuga Hero job switch – When this occurs during the story Kasuga is forced to use the base version of the bat again, it doesn’t equip any other bat, which means you’ll do basically no damage with normal attacks or skills. This is the fight you want to have the battle items for to get through it. Immediately after the fight you can equip your leveled bat and be smooth sailing for over half the game.

Chapter 10: Sawashiro boss fight – This is the first part in the playthrough where you will likely run into trouble if you have just been railroading the story. Sawashiro is level 89 and hits hard, so it would be helpful to stop and grind the dungeon for a bit to make sure Kiryu and your active team’s levels are all above 80. You can use this opportunity to level alternate jobs if you haven’t already to get the extra stat boosts, as you can easily bump the jobs to level 30+ in a handful of fights. The Sawashiro fight itself can’t be extremely specifically prepped for because of his style switching which also changes his type weakness, but making sure you have a good spread of strong physical and magic moves of each type on your team should get you through.

Chapter 12: Tojo Legends group boss fight – This is the point where you will be hard-blocked if you hadn’t purposely leveled more. If you remember the gimmick of the fight is that you need to use Kiryu’s Awakened mode to knock out each of the bosses, but they still fight back during this section unlike normal enemies. If you are very underleveled here then the bosses will just knock Kiryu out during the Awakened activation or leave you with no health, so you’ll just get knocked out by one of the other bosses. Having Kiryu specifically leveled up here and then healing skills on the other party members to heal him as soon as possible is required.

Finale: Kasuga final boss – Bryce is level 95, so you may need to do a little bit of extra work with Kasuga, but isn’t super necessary. Make sure each character has a good Ice move as Bryce is weak to it. Make characters can use the skills from Aquanaut assuming you already had that leveled for the healing skills, Female characters can use Ice moves from Housekeeper.

Finale: Kiryu final boss – Ebina is also level 95, but is slightly easier overall than Bryce as he’s a solo fight, and does the same style switch as Sawashiro which changes his type weakness. He starts weak to Blade and Electricity so having a few more of those can be helpful.

Celebrated your victory over sector one of the Big Swell.
Bronze
The Big Swell is the extra dungeon added with this DLC. It functions the same as the two main game dungeons, being divided into 5 sectors with random floor layouts, and a vendor outside you can trade items with, though it also does include some extra minigame-esque scenes not present in the other dungeons. You also aren’t able to save before the boss fights like in the main game dungeons, so you only get one shot at each.

The dungeon is started by first going to Revolve during the day in Premium Adventure where there will be a new icon. You are then prompted to go to the beach after the scene at Revolve, then once the beach scene is finished you’ll be automatically taken over to the entrance of the dungeon on Sunset St.

Sector 1 of the dungeon has a recommended level of 55. The final boss of the sector is 3x level 57 Sawashiro enemies, each with a different weakness. Yellow is weak to fire, Blue is weak to electricity, and Purple is weak to ice. Make sure you’ve got at least one decent move of each type on your party members.

Sector 2 of the dungeon has a recommended level of 57. The boss of the sector is a level 60 Giant Shark.  The boss is weak to blade and fire attacks, so focus on those types of moves to deal with it effectively.

Sector 3 of the dungeon has a recommended level of 60. The boss of the sector is a duo fight against a level 62 Bryce & Ebina. Bryce is weak to gun & blade attacks, while Ebina is weak to all magic types.

Bronze
Sector 4 of the dungeon has a recommended level of 62. The boss of the sector is another duo fight, this time against level 65 Yamai & Majima. Yamai is weak to blade attacks, while Majima is weak to fire. Majima can spawn multiple clones during the fight, so focus on him first to prevent that. Kiryu’s Essence of the Dragon God skill is very helpful here for this reason, so make sure you have it on the inheritance slot or have him on his default job.

Silver
Sector 5 of the dungeon has a recommended level of 65. The final boss of this sector is a level 66 Game Master (same as the giant squid fight during the story).  Its body is weak to blade attacks, while the tentacles will reappear as with the story fight, and have differing weaknesses when they do. Make sure to have a good blade attack on as many of your party as possible, and a good spread of magic otherwise.

Thank you so much for this, if I may ask, what characters were in your main crew most of the time, and what skills and jobs did you spam/use the most? I’m excited to start this up!!

For the party members you can really use whoever you want, there’s enough variance in jobs and available skills that you can set up whoever is your favorite and it doesn’t require being as specific as 7. Both party leaders get a skill similar to the laser that you can use to blast through most fights in NG+.

Kind ridiculous they have NG+ locked behind a paywall, between the base game and the Master Vacation pack only the “We’re only the best” trophy might require an additional play through, everything else can ge earned during the post game or premium adventure. I already planned on getting the dlc, but it’s almost like the devs are forcing paid dlc on the fanbase when NG+ could have been implemented before release or added with a free title update.

No, the dlc isn’t required for the platinum. According to the trophy guide, nothing is missable everything can be completed during premium adventure. You don’t need the dlc trophies for the platinum, only the trophies from the base game.

I noticed in the NG+ Legend preparation part you said to upgrade “every character’s base job best weapon to +50”, does that mean you only used every character’s starter job the whole time in NG+ and just leveled the other jobs beforehand to transfer their skills? Can you give an example for a “base job best weapon” for one of the characters? Like do I upgrade Ichiban’s starter hero bat to +50 or craft/find the best one later on and upgrade that instead? I may be reading the wording wrong, I don’t want to waste crafting materials. Thank you.

I’m working on clarifying a bit. The best version for everyone’s base job weapon is crafted from the weapon you get for finishing the party member’s Drink Links, then leveled to +50. The + upgrades transfer if you “Craft” the weapon, just at a converted rate to the next crafting level so you can’t actually waste any crafting materials.

For most party members you can leave them on their base job when working through NG+, then only worry about leveling alt jobs for skills like healing before starting the playthrough, then any extra grinding you want during the NG+ playthrough. You can level the alt jobs extremely fast for the permanent stat boosts if you want to grind a bit extra in NG+.

Would it be possible to play NG+ on Hard, then make a save before final boss and switch to Legend and get the trophy that way?

I would appreciate it if someone can confirm this as well. I read somewhere that you can play the entire NG+ on Normal if you want, and you will still get both Hard and Legend trophies (if) you switch the difficulty right before the final boss, respectively.

      Can someone PLEASE confirm?

You could but the final bosses are level 95 and playing NG+ on hard won’t get you to 95 without a ton of unnecessary grinding.

So I got the platinum in the main game and finished big swell. However, I’m hesitant to start the NG+ run because my weapon levels are so low. To clarify, I have all of the best weapons for each class and money is not an issue because of big swell. What’s the best way to get luster steel and other weapon enhancement items in order to get weapons to +50? The drop rate is so bad, I’m getting like 1-4 steels per encounter just from street fights (at least those are quick because I just spam L2 to finish the fight quickly). Dungeons are much slower (at least big swell) because I have to actually fight in order to even roll for a change for 1-4 steels. And tips on getting more weapon enhancement items quicker? Thanks again for your helpful guides.
