Introduction

Welcome to the Thief VR: Legacy of Shadow Trophy Guide! Follow Magpie through the streets of The City as she loads her pockets up with goodies while uncovering secrets about the Keepers and Baron Northcrest.

Step 1: Complete all Missions in Immersive Mode and with Master Thief Status

Warning: The game has a game breaking issue where you’ll no longer be able to draw your blackjack or put items into your body to collect it. The only way to fix this is to delete the game and reinstall it. There are a number of things that can cause this to happen, such as the game crashing, the game freezing, or when closing the application while in a mission. It can also randomly happen while playing as well. As a precaution you should back up your save after every mission, so you always have a fallback save if it gets corrupted.

Before starting any missions, you’ll want to make sure in your settings you have the Microphone set to Immersive Mode so you can work on unlocking :gold: At One With the Shadows. You can then mute your microphone afterwards to completely negate Immersive Mode and easily earn the trophy while working towards Master Thief Status in each mission.

In order to get Master Thief Status for a mission, you’ll need to collect all gold and all collectibles, don’t alert the guards, and don’t kill any guards in a single run. If you kill or alert a guard, reloading a checkpoint will not negate that on the result screen therefore you won’t earn Master Thief. If this happens, you’ll need to restart the entire mission. Therefore if you’re about to alert a guard it’s recommended to reload the checkpoint before triggering the alert. You can refer to :gold: Shadow Incarnate for all 7 missions with Master Thief Status.

Step 2: Complete all Missions Without Using the Bow or Blackjack

Now that the hardest stuff is out of the way. you’ll want to work on completing all the missions again, but this time without using the bow or the blackjack. You can still use your bow for its utility, like rope arrows for example. You just can’t attack an enemy with your bow or blackjack. The tutorial of how to use the blackjack during the first mission doesn’t count against this trophy as it’s unavoidable.

Step 3: Miscellaneous Cleanup

With all the main runs completed, you’ll now want to clean up any of the miscellaneous trophies you missed.

Complete all bonus objectives in all missions
Gold
Each mission has 2 bonus objectives that you can complete. You can check what your bonus objectives are by pausing the game and swapping from your primary objective to your bonus objective. Most of the bonus objectives will lead you to more loot to get more gold which you have to do for :gold: Shadow Incarnate anyway, but some of them are for doing other specific things.

  1. Stonemarket
    1. The Trader’s Keep holds valuable goods overnight – unless I get in there!
      • Loot the Trader’s Keep, which can be found by going through the sewers in the main courtyard.
    2. Folks round here love leaving their windows open. I’ll give them a reason not to.
      • Steal all the loot from the 3 opened windows around the map.
  2. Somerville Observatory
    1. If I were City Watch, I’d stash supplies in those perimeter towers. Lucky for me, I’m not.
      • Loot the chest in the 3 perimeter towers.
    2. The Observatory’s got a rare collection on display. It’ll be even rarer once I’m through.
      • Loot all 6 items inside the locked glass cases. You can find the key for the glass cases on one of the shelves in the library, or you can just smash the glass with your blackjack.
  3. Ravencourt Manor
    1. One of Cassandra’s girls wants a set of rare perfumes – I can deliver that.
      • Collect the 5 perfumes around the map.
    2. Those repulsive red banners… Let’s burn every last one.
      • Using the fire arrows, shoot all 4 of the red banners on the outside of the manor. Make sure you don’t miss or use any as you can only find 4 fire arrows during this mission.
  4. New Quarter 1
    1. A corrupt guard hides his stash in an empty jail cell. Risky, but I can find it.
      • Down in the cellar area you can find jail cells being guarded by 2 guards. After knocking them out you can pick up the key off the nearby table and unlock the cells. One of them will have a few items inside to loot, which will be the stash.
    2. The sewers swallow more than filth – coin, trinkets, secrets. I’ll go dredge some fortune.
      • In the small courtyard that leads to the entrance to the tavern, there will be a sewer entrance in the center of the area. Drop down and go down the left path, which will lead to some loot.
  5. Dayport District
    1. Perch, a drunk pirate, claimed he stored his booty in Dayport. He owns a shack here somewhere.
      • At the start of the level, go through the window on your right and follow the balcony. If you look over the edge to your right, you’ll see a small ledge with a chest there. Go over to the balcony that has the patrolling guard and then drop off the side to a small wooden platform that leads over to the chest.
    2. Wieldstorm Museum’s missing a few display cases. Funny – they were last seen near here.
      • At the start of the level, go across the map on the left side and you’ll reach Dayport Iron. Once in the area, look to your left and climb up the ladder. Enter through the window and you can smash the cases inside.
  6. New Quarter 2
    1. The sootman swears he saw something shiny while sweeping the tavern chimneys. Worth a look.
      • When in the captain’s room on the 3rd floor (the room where you find the bow), you can enter the chimney and drop down to the middle section to find the loot. Be careful of the fireplace below you still be active, unless you’ve already shot it with a water arrow.
    2. Word is the Watch tried summoning gold with a ritual circle in the attic. Let’s see if they succeeded.
      • When in the captain’s room on the 3rd floor, interact with the books on the bookshelf on the right side of the room to go to the attic like you did in your very first visit to New Quarter. Once in the attic, place your hand on the table in the center and some loot will spawn.
  7. Somerville Observatory 2
    • Looks like the City Watch just got paid – I’m going to have to pickpocket them all…
      • You’ll need to pickpocket all 13 gold pouches from 12 guards located around the level. There are a total of 13 guards in the level, but one guard has 2 pouches and another guard only has a key.
    • Rumors of a stash in the study room – probably guarded, but that’s no problem.
      • In the main room of the building, there will be 2 guards patrolling around the 2nd floor. One of the guards will have a key on them. After taking it from them, go to the Study and there will be a locked door there you can open with it with a chest you can lockpick inside.
Relics of the Past
Discover all the lost relics to complete the Clocktower collection
Gold
Bugged warning: The lost relics need to be collected in one sitting. If you close the game and load your save, all the lost relics will disappear from the Clocktower. If you’ve already collected them before you can still collect them again.

Lost relics are collectibles that can be found throughout the game. There are a total of 8 lost relics to find. There is 1 in each level and the first one you find is story related. Collecting a lost relic will reward you with choosing an upgrade from Cassandra, which is required for :gold: Tools of Perfection. You’ll also need to collect these for :gold: Shadow Incarnate. You can track which lost relics you’ve collected by looking at the mission select tab and seeing if you’ve completed the challenge for finding the lost relic. You can also find them on display in the Clocktower. The trophy will unlock after you collect all 8, and then return to the Clocktower.

  1. Stonemarket
    • Medallion
      • Story related.
    • Staff
      • In the main courtyard near where you can exit the level to the Clocktower, stand in the gate leading to the exit and turn around to look into the courtyard again. On the first building on your right, there will be some wood planks you can climb up in order to get to the balcony. Lockpick the chest in the room and the staff is inside.
  2. Somerville Observatory
    • Hammer
      • In the Library section of the map on the section floor, you’ll see a small bookshelf in the walkway. You’ll need to pull books out in a specific order to move it. Pull out the middle book, the bottom book, then the top book. You can then grab the hammer inside.
  3. Ravencourt Manor
    • Horn
      • In the basement, go into the room past the sleeping guard and once the back left side of the wall you’ll see a protruding brick. Press the brick and a secret passage will open. Open the chest and take the horn inside.
  4. New Quarter
    • Bracelet
      • In the attic where you find the mask for the main story, look up and shoot a rope arrow at the pillars above. Climb up onto the rafters and pick up the bracelet.
  5. Dayport District
    • Cup
      • In the workshop when you teleport into the room behind the locked door, or enter from the rafters, look up and use a Rope Arrow on the beam. Climb up and lockpick the chest and pick up the mace head.
  6. New Quarter 2
    • Bangle
      • On the 3rd floor of the tavern, go through the vents in the bedroom until you get to a dead end. Lockpick the chest in the hallway and pick up the bangle.
  7. Somerville Observatory 2
    • Mask
      • At the start of the level, go through the sewers until you reach the second set of wooden beams, them climb across to the rope and slide down. The mask is as the bottom inside a sewer grate. Be careful not to follow off the rope.
A Perfect Heist
Complete a mission with Master Thief status
Silver
Refer to :gold: Shadow Incarnate.
Shadow Incarnate
Complete all missions with Master Thief status
Gold
Unobtainable: This trophy is currently unobtainable because in Mission 6, New Quarter 2, there is a banner you’ll need to shoot with a Fire Arrow to burn it away and reveal a climbable area. The flag will not burn when shooting it with a Fire Arrow and you can’t get up there any other way beside the handholds behind the banner, which you can’t use unless the banner is burned. Because of this, you can’t get to the locked chest above, which contains some gold required to get Master Thief.

In order to get Master Thief status on a mission, you’ll have to get all 3 playstyle accolades in a single run. This is easily the hardest part of the platinum as some of the levels can be really unforgiving with the layout of enemies and gold. Especially with enemies that are difficult to knock out. It’s not recommended to stack this with :gold: Real Thieves Don’t Use Weapons as it’s already hard enough to get Master Thief without making use of your weapons. Below are all the playstyle accolades and how to get them.

  1. Scavenger
    • Collect all gold and collectibles. This includes the lost relics. The amount of gold will be determined by which level you play, but you can track how much gold you’ve obtained versus how much gold is left by pausing the game and looking at the bottom of the menu. The best course of action to getting all the gold is to try and safely knock out every guard you can, without alerting them. This can be difficult, especially during later levels with the fully armored guards that you can’t knock out easily, so you’ll need to try and avoid them instead.
  2. Shadow
    • No Guards Alerted. To get this one, you need to keep the “Times Detected” stat at 0 on the results screen. If you get detected restarting the checkpoint WILL NOT reset this. If you get detected, you’ll need to restart the entire mission. If you feel like you’re about to get detected however, you can restart the checkpoint before you are and it won’t count as being detected still.’ The “Bodies Found” stat doesn’t matter for this accolade. A body you knocked out can be found and you’ll still get the accolade.
  3. Bloodless
    • No Guards Killed. This is the easiest one to do as most of the time you won’t be killing guards anyway unless you’re using the sharp arrows. Make sure you’re only knocking out guards instead.
  4. Master Thief
    • Everything in a Single Run. After getting the above 3 accolades in a single run, you’ll also get Master Thief.

The “Knockouts” and “Objectives” stats on the results screen do not matter. You can still get Master Thief without doing all the bonus objectives, depending on if the objective is related to gold or not, and knocking out guards doesn’t matter either.

Most missions can be done on your very first run of them, 3 missions will require you to get upgrades before you can complete them fully.

  1. New Quarter 1 requires the Reaching Higher upgrade, which will start you with 3 Rope Arrows. You need this upgrade because there are only 2 Rope Arrows located in the mission, but you need to use it on 3 different areas.
  2. New Quarter 2 requires the Playing With Fire upgrade, which will start you with 3 Fire Arrows. You need this upgrade because by the time you get Fire Arrows, you can’t go back to the tavern area. You’ll need to use a Fire Arrow in the tavern to burn a flag down to access a climbable area. (This is currently bugged and you cannot burn the banner.)
  3. Somerville Observatory 2 requires the Reaching Higher upgrade, which will start you with 3 Rope Arrows. You need this upgrade because there are only 2 Rope Arrows located in the mission, but you need to use it on 3 different areas.
Tricks of the Trade
Acquire your first upgrade.
Bronze

Tools of Perfection
All all upgrades.
Gold
There are a total of 14 upgrades to get throughout the game. In order to unlock upgrades, you’ll have collect a certain amount of gold in the level as well as find the lost relic in the level. Both of these are required to unlock :gold: Shadow Incarnate, so it’ll come naturally while working towards that.

You can check which upgrades you’ve unlocked by checking the rewards tab on the pause menu.

Silent Shadows
Complete a mission in Immersive Mode without being heard
Silver
Refer to :gold: At One With the Shadows.
At One with the Shadows
Complete all missions in Immersive Mode without being heard
Gold
Once you first boot up the game, you’ll be greeted with a settings menu. In the gameplay section there will be a microphone setting and you’ll want to set that to Immersive. In this mode, guards will hear you if you talk or make a noise into the microphone. You’ll need to complete all missions in this mode without any guards hearing you. This only counts for guards hearing you from your microphone, so you can still be heard from running or falling and still complete the mission without being heard.

You can of course do this as intended and just be very quiet as you play the game, or you can do it the easy way and after setting the game to Immersive Mode, press the :ps: button and scroll over to the microphone icon and mute your microphone. Guards will no longer hear you through the microphone but it will still count as clearing it in Immersive mode. When you do this however there are some things you can no longer do. Such as blowing out candles or calling the bird that gives you gold. The candle one isn’t as important as you can still punch the fire to put out candles, but if you’re stacking this with :gold: Shadow Incarnate you’ll need to call the birds over for their gold, so it’s recommended to knock out every guard in the area or at least make sure they’re far away, then quickly unmute your microphone and call the bird, then mute your microphone again.

Real Thieves Don’t Use Weapons
Complete all missions without using the bow or blackjack
Gold
The bow and blackjack are you 2 main weapons in the game and how you’d deal with most of the guards. However, you’ll need to complete all missions without using them. It’s not recommended to stack this with :gold: Shadow Incarnate and to do a new run of each mission specifically for this trophy as it’ll make both runs a lot easier. Below are some tips you can use to make the run a little easier.

  1. You can still use utility arrows during your run, such as Rope Arrows, that way you can get around easier.
  2. Ignore looting anything or completing bonus objectives, just go straight for your objectives while trying to avoid alerting the guards as you don’t have a means to fight back if they become alerted.
  3. You can use objects you find around the world such as bottles or a hammer to knockout guards instead of your own weapons if you absolutely need to knockout any guards in your way.
Beatings Will Continue Until Morale Improves
Wear a Captain’s helmet and knockout every subordinate guard in a level
Silver
Bugged warning: This doesn’t seem to unlock by doing the trophy normally, but will just unlock after you knock out the guard during the bow tutorial, even if you’ve never equipped or even picked up a Captain’s Helmet in your playthrough yet.

The easiest place to do this is during the Stonemarket mission as there are very few guards there and you have access to a Captain’s Helmet directly at the start of the mission. Put it on, and start going crazy against the guards.

Returned to Sender
Distract a guard with an item you pickpocketed from them
Silver
There are plenty of places to get this, but the Stonemarket mission is the easiest place to do it as there is a tutorial about pickpocketing where the guard will stand completely still for you to pickpocket him. After grabbing the pouch, you can throw it ahead of him.
Long Arm of the Outlaw
Knock out a guard from over 25 meters away
Silver
For this trophy you’ll need to knock out a guard using the blunt arrows from at least 25 meters away. The best mission to do this on is the Dayport District as there is a lot of open areas where you can shoot guards from. From the start of the level, you can follow the left side of the map and there will be a guard patrolling a balcony on the opposite side of the map that you can shoot.
Barehanded Burglary
Smash a glass cabinet with your bare hands
Silver
There are plenty of places to get this, but the Stonemarket mission is the easiest place to do it as you’ll come across a glass cabinet as part of your main objective. Once you reach the Medallion, you can punch the glass cabinet it’s located in instead of opening it. If you didn’t knockout the sleeping guard nearby this will alert him and you’ll take some damage from punching the glass.
If You’re Happy and You Know It
Make an unconscious guard clap their hands.
Silver
After knocking out a guard, you can grab their hands and start clapping them together until you unlock the trophy.
Taking In the Sights
Gaze out over the river from the Somerville Observatory overlook.
Silver
During the Somerville Observatory mission you’ll come across a balcony that has scaffolding on it that you can use to enter the building. While on the balcony, go up to the railing and look out over to the river. Stand there for a bit while looking around the river and you should unlock the trophy. If you’re struggling to unlock it, try moving to a different area of the balcony and look around.
Let’s Start a Bar Fight
Knock out a guard by smashing a bottle on their head
Silver
There are plenty of places to get this, but the Stonemarket mission is the easiest place to do it as there are a lot of guards that will stand perfectly still with their back facing towards you. Grab a bottle and go up to one of these guards and smash it over their heads to knock them out.

Good job on having the guide up that fast again!

One bug I noticed so far in the very first mission: I wasn’t able to loot the 3 opened windows. One of them worked fine, the other two were just black once I opened them so there was no loot to collect. Might be patched soon but I figured it might be worth noting if anyone else faces this issue.

There was a new patch today with the release that I haven’t been able to test yet that might have broken some more stuff, or has fixed some other issues as well. I personally never encountered this issue from my numerous runs of the first level, so I’d assume this is a newer bug

Not sure if i got this right. You need to collect all lost relics for the whole game in 1 session?

Yes, as they despawn whenever you reload into the game. I have yet to test if this issue has been fixed on the Day 1 patch however. You can collect all the relics pretty quickly however & shouldn’t take more than an hour to recollect them all after finishing the game

Thank you for creating the guide for Thief VR: Legacy of Shadows! We really appreciate the support.

We noticed you encountered some bugs and issues during your playtrough, we’re happy to inform you that an upcoming patch next Wednesday, December 10th, will fix all the listed bugs above.

That’s really great to hear. The game is fantastic, but just suffering from some pretty glaring bugs. It’s good to hear those are on the radar with an incoming patch as besides those, everything else is great

Today’s update didn’t fix the issue of the flag not burning in mission 6. I also had all rewards before the update and still no trophy unlock for all of the upgrades.

What if instead when we alert a guard, we close the game instead of “reloading checkpoint”. I wonder if this would work and stop the game from “saving” what just happened anyways

I will try this on a new save to test and if it works I will report back, unless someone already knows

It’d be the exact same as restarting the mission as closing the application mid-mission will boot you back to the Clocktower. This also has a very high chance of breaking the game like mentioning in Step 1 of the roadmap, which requires a reinstall to fix.
