Dead Island 2 Fool’s Gold Walkthrough

Fool’s Gold is a Lost and Found Quest in Dead Island 2. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the Fool’s Gold Lost and Found mission.

Starting Location: The Pier (Santa Monica)
Counts Towards Quest Completion in Region: The Pier (Santa Monica)
Requirement: Finished the Main Story (potentially available a little earlier but after story it will work for sure)
Reward: Blood Rage (Unique Dagger), 2000XP
Mission Info: Dante (RIP), Randy, and their buddies tried to bury a stolen murder weapon in a safe. Follow the four fools’ sloppy paper trail and dig it up.

Objectives:

• Ransack Randy’s Locker
• Follow the paper-trail to Dante’s Meet-up Point
• Find Randy’s Burner Phone
• Following the idiots’ trail got you the code. Now find their buried safe!
• There’s too many zombies to enter the code safely. Defeat them all!
• Dig up the buried treasure!

Starting Location: Fool’s Gold

Fool’s Gold is started in The Pier (Santa Monica) by defeating a unique Crusher called Dante. He won’t spawn on 1st visit during the story. You can come back for him after the story, he will then spawn at a fixed location below The Pier Lifeguard HQ, the building where the fast travel map is. You can recognize him by his unique name. He drops Journal: A Totally Legit Letter, loot it from him to start the quest. For the rest of the quest we must find 3 more journals to then open a buried safe which gives a weapon reward.

Ransack Randy’s Locker

In the same area where Dante spawned, just a few steps away you can find Randy’s Locker. It’s at the very end of the building where some workout equip is. Interact with the left locker to get Journal: Deep Shit.

Follow the paper-trail to Dante’s Meet-up Point

Head to the south-east corner of the pier. At the very end of the path, in the corner near the water, you find a little bench with Journal: Meeting of the Minds on it. It’s at the very edge of the map along the blue railing.

Find Randy’s Burner Phone

In the north-west corner of the map you find an alley with trash next to some restaurants. Between the trash on the ground you must pick up Journal: Flaws in the Plan. This will finish following the Paper Trail and finding Randy’s Burner Phone. Now you have everything you need to find and open the buried safe.

Following the idiots’ trail got you the code. Now find their buried safe!

The buried safe is located east of the Lifeguard HQ (fast travel point). Immediately outside the Lifeguard HQ is a small path behind the building, roughly in the middle of that path is the buried safe in the sand. It will get marked on the map when you go near it, see the image location below.

There’s too many zombies to enter the code safely. Defeat them all!

As soon as you arrive at the safe, a few waves of zombies will spawn. You must defeat them first.

Dig up the buried treasure!

After the zombies are dealt with, interact with the buried safe to dig it up. This will reward you with the Blood Rage legendary weapon.

This finishes Fool’s Gold Lost and Found quest in Dead Island 2.
