Release is the 31st main story quest in Final Fantasy 16 (XVI), and a subquest of The Gathering Storm. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the Release main scenario chapter.
- Starting Location: Glademond Abbey, Rosaria
- Requirement: Occurs during The Gathering Storm
- Reward: 50 XP, 600 Gil, 5 Renown, 1 Black Blood
- Quest Info: Having dealt with the immediate threat posed by the Black Shields, Clive and Jill turn their attention to searching the abbey for any who might still be alive. There, amidst the slaughter, Jill discovers a lone surviving Bearer who, with his final breath, warns them of the Black Shields’ reach.
Clive collects the remains of the fallen Bearers and takes them to a nearby river where they can be consigned to the tides, as is custom.
Objectives:
- Make for Riddock’s Jump
- Return to Martha’s Rest
Make for Riddock’s Jump
At the start of this quest, you’ll need to head to a spot nearby to the south along the river. Follow the objective over there.
Along the way, you’ll run into the first Notorious Mark of the game, Ahriman. Notorious Marks are another name for Hunts, which you can check out from a board in the Hideaway that will be available the next time you back there for story purposes. These aren’t required for the main story progression but are required for a couple of trophies, and there are Hunts that are related to some side quests, so you will need to do them all eventually anyway.
Whether you opt to deal with the hunt target now or not, continue on towards the bridge and interact with the spot near the water to.
Return to Martha’s Rest
You can now travel back to Martha’s Rest, and speak with Martha in the inn to complete the subquest.
This finishes Release Main Quest in Final Fantasy 16 (XVI).
