Introduction

Welcome to the Metal Gear Solid 3 Delta: Snake Eater (PS5 Remake) Trophy Guide! This is a full remake of the original PS2 game released in 2004. The trophy list is almost identical to the PS3 version and the PS4/PS5 Master Collection Remasters at its core, but with several minor changes, including some new trophies, a few trophies removed, some changed descriptions, and some individual trophies combined together into one. Gameplay has been enhanced and some new useful items have been added, this makes for a slightly easier trophy experience compared to the master collection version, but still harder than the PS3 version.

Step 1: Very Easy difficulty, Non-lethal Playthrough for all Collectibles and Missable Trophies

For your first playthrough it’s recommended to play on Very Easy and get all collectibles and missable trophies. On this difficulty you start with the overpowered EZ Gun which gives you 80% camo when it’s equipped and has infinite tranquilizer ammo to put enemies to sleep. Also don’t kill anyone (including bosses) so you can get the camo from each boss as well as the respective trophy. If you are already familiar with the game and want to practice for the Foxhound rank you could try getting no alerts, but this is optional as you’ll have to do it during Step 2 anyway.

Follow the Metal Gear Solid 3 Delta Collectible Guide for all collectibles and missable trophy locations in a single playthrough. It’s critical you shoot all 64 Ga-Ko in this playthrough, as this will unlock the very useful ghillie suit for your foxhound run.

Step 2: Foxhound Rank Playthrough on Extreme difficulty in New Game+

This is where the real platinum difficulty is. You need to achieve the Foxhound ranking which must be done on either of the Extreme difficulties. In this mode enemies see you from much further away, you have less health, ammo capacity, and bosses take and deal much more damage. This has been made easier than the master collection version with new items and gameplay changes, no limits on saving and you can start on New Game+. Refer to trophy FOXHOUND.

Metal Gear Solid 3 Delta: Snake Eater (2025 Remake) Trophy Guide

Endless Battle
Collect all trophies
Platinum
Earn all other Trophies in Metal Gear Solid 3 Delta: Snake Eater (PS5 Remake) to unlock Platinum. DLC items (camos from Deluxe Edition etc) aren’t required for trophies.
Young Gun
Stun Ocelot
Bronze
Story related, cannot be missed

Automatic story-related trophy, cannot be missed. This will unlock in Rassvet area during the Virtuous Mission, after the cutscenes with Sokolov. Afterward he is seen knocked out on the floor among other enemies.

Pain Relief
Seize victory against The Pain
Bronze
Story related, cannot be missed

Automatic story-related trophy, cannot be missed. The Pain is the 2nd boss you will fight. The Pain uses a wide variety of attacks using his hornets, such as hornet grenades (you can shoot it as it floats towards you), covering you in swarms, clouds of hornets, bullet bees and so on. You can temporarily remove his bee armour by using smoke grenades, regular grenades and shooting him with the shotgun. This gives you time to aim for headshots with the Mk22. You can also jump in the water to avoid his attacks.

Defeating him non-lethally will reward you with the Hornet Stripe camo.

If It Bleeds, We Can Kill It
Seize victory against The Fear
Bronze
Story related, cannot be missed.

Automatic story-related trophy, cannot be missed. The Fear is the 3rd boss you will fight and is a complete pushover using a certain trick. The old trick where you could stun him and shoot him with the AK-47 no longer works. You have to fight him normally. Stun grenades with the grenade camo and the Mk22 are the way to go, use the thermal goggles to track him, stay in cover when he stops to shoot at you. Throw down any rotten or poisonous food you have so will eat those when he gets hungry, then just focus on wearing him down.

The End
Seize victory against The End
Bronze
Story related, cannot be missed.

You will unlock this at the same time as trophy The Early End if following the Collectible Guide. First make sure you have the SVD weapon from Ponizovje West. This is found by taking the left exit in Ponizovje South (at the end of the long river go left, a few areas after The Pain boss). This leads to a hidden side area, go through the yellow door into the weapon storage building to find the SVD. Now backtrack to Ponizovje South and this time take the exit straight at the end of the river to Ponizovje Warehouse Docks and SAVE YOUR GAME HERE. Once the cutscene ends, aim and shoot at The End to kill him, earning both trophies. Then reload your game as this obviously counts as a lethal kill and you will miss out on a camo and a very useful weapon later.

If you don’t kill The End early, you will still unlock this automatically during the regular boss fight against him, in Sokrovenno South. The End is the 4th boss you will fight. It takes place across 3 different areas in Sokrevenno. The End will take point at various vantage points across these areas, you can see him more easily using the thermal goggles and by the reflection from his sniper rifle scope. To get his moss camo, you need to sneak up to him from behind by holding :l1: to silent sneak, aim your gun at his back so he holds up his hands on lies down on the floor. Then aim at him and aim away, repeat 3 times until he starts to shake his body and drops his Moss Camo. Sneaking up to him from behind also unlocks trophy You Snooze, You Lose. After getting his Moss camo, equip it and lay down in a patch of moss to get the trophy for 100% camo index. You can then shoot him with the Mk22, in which case he will run away to another area, you can stop him with stun grenades to do more damage.

You can track his footsteps using the thermal goggles to find out where he went. Then repeat the same process and defeat him non-lethally to be rewarded with the Mosin-Nagant non-lethal tranquilizer rifle.

Houston, We HAD a Problem
Seize victory against The Fury
Bronze
Story related, cannot be missed.

Automatic story-related trophy, cannot be missed. The Fury is the 5th boss you face. He will attack you with a flamethrower aggressively if he sees you. Equipping a box will allow you to run over any fire left over on the ground from his attacks, it will also prevent you from being set on fire if he hits you, equipping it if set on fire will also put the flames out. The best weapon to use on him is the Mosin-Nagant from a distance, it does a lot of damage to him. Having a higher camo index also helps him not spot you as easily. Keep on the move and avoid his flames while picking him off, especially in his 2nd phase as he becomes much more aggressive and erratic.

River of Pain
Seize victory against The Sorrow
Bronze
Story related, cannot be missed.

Automatic story-related trophy, cannot be missed. The Sorrow is the 6th “boss” you will fight. You will be in a river that you need to make your way across, keep moving forward avoiding the occasional projectile attack by moving to the left or right that he will fire at you. Since you’ll be playing non-lethally you shouldn’t see anyone in the river apart from the previous cobra unit bosses, but don’t worry as they don’t count as kills.

Once you reach the end of the river snake will ‘die’, during the orange “Continue” screen hold :left: and use your revival pill to trigger a cutscene. Doing this will reward you with the Spirit camo when you reach the next cutscene with EVA behind a waterfall. You can end this fight quickly by drowning snake and using the revival pill straight away, however doing so will not reward you with the Spirit camo, so do not do this on your collectible playthrough, must reach the end of the river for the camo.

Grounded
Seize victory against Volgin
Bronze
Story related, cannot be missed.

Automatic story-related trophy, cannot be missed. Volgin is the 7th boss you will fight. The fight encourages you to use CQC and you should do so for the most part. Volgin will electrify his body and attack you close up with punches, you can CQC slam him after his attacks as long as he is not electrified, when he is on the ground, if you are quick enough you can shoot him a couple of times in the head with a non-lethal weapon. You can equip the mask disguise to get a free hit as Volgin will think you are Raikov, remove it afterwards as this causes him to get aggressive for a short time. In the 2nd phase of the fight he will start using other attacks on you, such as firing bullets, the large area-of-effect bullet attack you can simply prone to avoid. Continue using the same strategy to defeat him.

Shagadelic
Seize victory against The Shagohod
Bronze
Story related, cannot be missed.

Automatic story-related trophy, cannot be missed. The Shagohod is the 8th boss you will fight. This is a two phase fight. The first phase is against the Shagohod itself while EVA is driving you around on the bike. The aim is to shoot the treads of the Shagohod with the RPG which will immobilize it for several seconds, giving you a window to shoot the weak point at the back of it.

In the 2nd phase, Snake will be on foot and Volgin will be on top of the Shagohod driving it around. You need to once again shoot the treads with the RPG to immobilize it, then shoot Volgin in the head with the Mosin-Nagant to defeat him non-lethally, repeat until he is defeated.

The Patriot
Seize victory against The Boss
Bronze
Story related, cannot be missed.

Automatic story-related trophy, cannot be missed. The Boss is the 9th and final boss you will fight. The Boss will start off by running straight at you to use CQC attacks, she will say “get ready” or “here I come” usually. You can counter her CQC attacks by pressing :r2: when the game slows down and you hear a ‘woosh’ sound. When she is on the ground you can shoot her in the head with a non-lethal weapon if you are quick, then run away.

Her only other method of attack is using her Patriot weapon, when she is firing, any shots you fire at her will be deflected, so if she is shooting you should run straight for cover. If you let her catch a glimpse of you and stay relatively close to her position you can keep baiting her into rushing you for CQC attacks, which you can keep countering, slamming, then shooting her, you have to time it right though. Otherwise if you have a high camo index, you can pick her off with the Mosin-Nagant. You can also hide in the grass behind the logs, use thermal goggles to spot her from afar and shoot at her. After a few hits she will stop taking damage, but just go prone again behind the logs to get out of sight and repeat.

Mama Said
CQC Slam a guard and knock him out
Bronze
*MISSABLE*

First either have no weapon equipped or one with CQC enabled (red text on the weapon icon in bottom right of screen). When close enough to a guard, preferably from behind, hold the left stick in any direction and briefly hold :r2: to grab and slam them into the ground. This will knock out the enemy and unlocks the trophy. If you don’t press the left stick in any direction it will instead perform a grapple and hold the enemy instead of slamming him.

Tell Me Where the Bomb Is
CQC Interrogate an enemy
Bronze
*MISSABLE*

For this you need to approach a lone guard from behind, press :r2: without pushing the left stick in any direction to grab and hold him. When the guard is in a choke press :l3: to interrogate him and unlock the trophy. It’s important that you do not press the left stick while grabbing the enemy as this would perform a CQC slam instead.

Like He Just Doesn’t Care
Hold up an enemy
Bronze
*MISSABLE*

To “hold up” an enemy, slowly sneak up behind a guard with your weapon drawn on him. Snake will say “Freeze!” and the guard will put his hands up, thus unlocking the trophy. You can silent-sneak by holding :l1: , otherwise enemies will hear you coming.

Don’t Touch the Sides
Use a knife to remove a bullet
Bronze
*MISSABLE*

Bullet injuries are rare if playing on Very Easy. The best places to unlock this are against Volgin or The Boss, as even on Very Easy they have a high chance of inflicting a bullet injury on you. When you get a bullet injury go in to the Cure menu, use a Bandage, Disinfectant, Styptic and then the Knife to remove the bullet, this will ensure the trophy unlocks. If it doesn’t unlock, make sure you use the knife as the last step in the cure menu.

Ocelot Always Gets His Man
Spot Ocelot in the background when Snake is shaking the President’s hand
Bronze

*MISSABLE*

This is unlocked in one of the game’s final cutscenes, after defeating The Boss (endboss). After The Boss you will get a bunch of cutscenes in the airplane and fire a revolver. After this don’t skip any more cutscene. During the ending cutscene when Snake is in the White House, the President will say “You are a true patriot”. After this hold :r1: and look left using the left analog stick, you will see Ocelot in the window to pop this trophy. Easy to miss this so keep a manual save during The Boss fight.

Prince Charming
Attack a Kerotan for the first time
Bronze
*MISSABLE*

See :silver: It Ain’t Easy Being Green for finding all Kerotans.

Ugly Duckling
Attack a GA-KO for the first time
Bronze
*MISSABLE*

See :silver: It’s Duck Season for finding all Ga-Kos.

Ralph Called
Make Snake throw up
Bronze
*MISSABLE*

For this trophy you can either eat lots of food at once, forcing snake to throw up, or go into the Camo menu, press :r3: for the model viewer, then push the right stick for about a minute to spin snake around, unpause the game and Snake will throw up. Another place to unlock this almost automatically is the Volgin boss fight. If he hits you a couple times with his electric punches, you will throw up.

Can I Keep It?
Capture any animal alive
Bronze
*MISSABLE*

For this trophy you need to capture any small animal alive. Simply shoot one with your Mk22 and collect it to unlock the trophy.

Snake Eater
Eat a snake of any type
Bronze
*MISSABLE*

For this trophy you must capture and eat any snake. You can do this right at the start of the game in the first area, where you retrieve your backpack. Capture or kill the snake at the exit of the first area, go in to the Food menu and then eat it.

Foodie
Record any food item into your Food Collection
Bronze
*MISSABLE*

Collect any food item in the game, quit to the menu main and go in to Extras > Food Collection and the trophy will unlock. It only pops after you go into the Food Collection menu, not when collecting the first food.

A Good Man Is Hard to Find
Achieve a Camo Index of 100%
Bronze

*MISSABLE*

The best way to unlock this trophy is to obtain the Moss camo from “The End” boss, find a green patch of ground and prone in it, you will achieve a 100% camo index. During The End boss fight, sneak up to him from behind (hold :l1: to silent-sneak), aim your gun at his back so he holds up his hands and lies on the floor. Then aim away and aim back at him 3 times, he will shake his body and drops his Moss Camo. If you somehow missed this you can unlock the stealth camo by beating the game with 0 alerts (which you must do for Foxhound Rank anyway) and equip it for a 100% index as it renders you invisible.

I Can Totally See You
Achieve a Camo Index of 90% or higher
Bronze
*MISSABLE*

You can get this trophy straight away in the first area of the game. Equip the Leaf camo and Woodland face paint and prone in some grass to achieve a 90% camo index.

Time Paradox
Create the Ocelot Time Paradox
Bronze

*MISSABLE*

In Rassvet, during the Virtuous Mission, after meeting Sokolov and the cutscenes that follow, Ocelot will be knocked out on the ground. Save your game and kill him, you will be chastised for creating a time paradox, unlocking the trophy. Make sure to reload your save afterwards.

Taste the poison!
Throw a poisonous creature at an enemy
Bronze
*MISSABLE*

You can get this in several areas in the game. You need to capture a poisonous animal alive and then throw it at a guard, some examples are:

  • King Cobra
  • Cobalt Blue Tarantula
  • Coral Snake
  • Poison Dart Frog
  • Taiwanese Cobra
  • Emperor Scorpion

Once you have one of the mentioned animals, equip it in the weapons menu, select it and throw it at a guard to poison him. Make sure to save before going for this and reload your save afterwards as the poison will kill the guard, voiding your no kill playthrough.

The earliest opportunity for it is the 2nd story visit to Dremuchij North (when it’s night). After a cutscene you will be without your equipment and two guards come running at you. Catch the King Cobra from the first patch of grass where the guards came from (use Mk22 to capture it alive). Then select it from your “weapons” menu and throw it at one of the guards. You can also find Poison Dart Frogs at Chyornyj Prud. Cobalt Blue Tarantula is found in Ponizovje Warehouse: Exterior (the docks where you can kill The End early).

Cinephile
Listen to Para-Medic talk about movies after you save
Bronze
*MISSABLE*

You can get this right at the start of the game. After acquiring your backpack in the Virtuous Mission and some codec calls, call Para-Medic to save your game, after saving she will talk to you about a random movie which will unlock the trophy. This is technically missable if you were to never manually save.

Friendly Fire
Call in fire support
Bronze

*MISSABLE*

This can be done in several locations, the earliest opportunity is in Bolshaya Past South. You must silently sneak up to guards from behind (hold :l1: to silent sneak), then CQC grab them by holding :r2: but don’t tilt the left stick in any direction as to not CQC slam them. While holding them in CQC, press :l3: a few times and one of them should give you the fire support radio frequency for the respective area. Try this on every guard in the area until one of them tells you the Fire support frequency. Once you get the respective frequency from them, call it to unlock the trophy. Below is a list of locations and frequencies you can get from guards on each difficulty. Note that the frequency will only work AFTER you got it from interrogating an enemy. If you try to call the frequency without getting it from interrogation it won’t work.

List of areas that have fire support frequencies where you can earn the trophy:

  • Bolshaya Past South
  • Bolshaya Past Base (only on Hard/Extreme)
  • Ponizovje West
  • Ponizovje Warehouse: Exterior

Beekeeper
Use bees to harass an enemy
Bronze

*MISSABLE*

There are two spots in which you can achieve this trophy, they are in fact the exact same spot but in Virtuous Mission and Operation Snake Eater. When you reach Dolinovodno, there is a guard under a Hornet’s Nest in front of the long wooden bridge. Shoot the nest and it will fall on the guard who will run away from the bees, unlocking the trophy. You can also collect a nest and throw it at a guard to achieve the same result.

Just Because
Blow up an armory or provisions storehouse with TNT
Bronze

*MISSABLE*

Storehouses can be found in multiple locations. The first one you will find is in Bolshaya Past Base which conveniently contains some TNT. Enter the building in the north-east corner of the area, grab the TNT. You place it with :l2: + :r2: then exit the building and blow it up with :l2: + :x: .

Mostly Dead
Use the Fake Death pill
Bronze
*MISSABLE*

The Fake Death Pill is used from your inventory. Open your items using :left: , select the pill, press :x: and Snake will ‘die’. Make sure to wake yourself up using the Revival Pill to avoid dying for real.

You Snooze, You Lose
Sneak up on The End and hold him up to make him drop an item
Bronze

*MISSABLE*

First, you are not allowed to kill The End early at Ponizovje Warehouse: Exterior. Only then you get to fight him later at Sokrovenno South where this trophy takes place. During this fight you will be in the Sokrovenno woods and “The End” will be sniping you from vantage points. Equip camo to blend in with the environment. Now silently sneak up to him from behind (hold :l1: to silent sneak). Get close to him and aim your gun at his back. Then he will raise his hands and lies on the floor. Aim away from him and aim back at him 3 times until he wiggles around and drops his Moss Camo. Pick it up to unlock the trophy. You only need to catch him once from behind and can then aim 3 times at him in the same spot. It’s important you hold :l1: to silent sneak, otherwise he will hear you coming.

The Early End
Kill The End before the boss battle
Bronze

*MISSABLE*

A few areas after defeating “The Pain” (bee boss), you will reach Ponizovje South. It’s the area with the long river. At the end of the river take the left exit, not the exit straight ahead. This leads to the hidden side area Ponizovje West. Here enter the weapon storage building to find the SVD sniper rifle. Now return to the previous area and take the exit at the end of the river to reach Ponizovje Warehouse: Exterior. SAVE YOUR GAME HERE. Once the cutscene ends, aim and shoot at The End to kill him early. Then reload your game as this obviously counts as a lethal kill and you will miss out on his Moss Camo and Mosin Nagant weapon later.

Mud Scientist
Get dirty while wearing the Scientist uniform
Bronze

*MISSABLE*

First, you need the Scientist Camo. It’s an automatic story unlock early in the game, during the second visit to Rassvet. You get it during the cutscene with EVA. It’s the area where a group of soldiers searches the area afterward. You can do the trophy right after this, in the next area “Chyornyj Prud”, which has a big lake. Equip the camo and roll through the mud at the lake shore with :triangle: or crawl through it until the scientist outfit gets dirty.

War Has Changed
Start a game in New Style
Bronze
When starting a new game you will be prompted to select a Play Style, choose New style, start the game and the trophy will unlock.
Old Snake, New Tricks
Start a game in Legacy Style
Bronze
When starting a new game you will be prompted to select a Play Style, choose Legacy style, start the game and the trophy will unlock.
Paparazzo Snake
Use Photo Mode for the first time
Bronze
Photo mode can be accessed at any time, during gameplay and cutscenes by pressing  :opt: and selecting Photo Mode. Once you exit photo mode the trophy will unlock.
Wax On, Wax Off
Parry all of The Boss’s CQC attacks
Silver

*MISSABLE*

Parrying the Boss’s CQC attacks is much easier in the remake, she has 2 types of attacks she can do. The first one is right at the start of the fight, she will run up to and grapple you, the game will slow and you will hear a ‘woosh’ sound, immediately press :r2: to counter and throw her to the ground. Later in the fight when she drops to less than half health/stamina, get close to bait her in to CQC, this time she should do a longer combo which requires 2 different :r2: inputs, again the game will slow and you will hear a ‘woosh’ sound each time, once you have countered both attacks in the fight the trophy will unlock. You do not need to parry every single CQC attack she does, just both 2 different types once in a single fight.

Believe It or Not
Catch a tsuchinoko
Silver

*MISSABLE*

Tsuchinoko is a unique animal (snake) that you can catch. It is found in the area Graniny Gorki South immediately after “The Fear” boss (guy who jumps between trees). In Graniny Gorki South, place at least one Mousetrap at the exit to Ponizovje Warehouse. If you don’t have Mousetraps, you can find one inside Ponizovje Warehouse (down the first set of stairs and through the left door). Now go back and forth between Ponizovje Warehouse and Graniny Gorki South until your Mousetrap catches an animal. If it catches another animal, collect it, discard it from the food menu, crawl over your Mousetrap to recollect it and place it again. Keep doing this until you catch a Tsuchinoko. It’s random and luck-based, can take a few tries. If you have more than 1 Mousetrap, place all of them to make it go faster.

Note: For the Infinity Face Paint you must finish the game with a Tsuchinoko in your inventory. However, you must also eat it for the Food Collection. After catching it, make a save, eat it, reload save and keep it in your food inventory (don’t discard it). After reaching the Torture Room you will temporarily lose your inventory but don’t worry. After The Sorrow boss proceed until the next cutscenes with EVA in a cave behind a waterfall. There you get your equipment back. Backtrack to the previous area outside the waterfall to find the Tsuchinoko slithering on the ground near the river by the waterfall. Shoot it with the Mk22 to capture it alive and keep it till the end.

Like a Boss
Clear the game on any difficulty
Silver
Story related, cannot be missed.

You will unlock after completing your first playthrough. Playing on Very Easy will suffice for this and you are allowed to use special weapons such as the EZ Gun.

PEACE WALKER
Clear the game without killing anyone
Gold
*MISSABLE*

You will unlock this naturally as part of the :gold: FOXHOUND trophy as it’s one of the requirements for the rank. You should get this on your all collectibles very easy difficulty playthrough as you need to defeat all bosses non-lethally anyway for camos. There’s no benefit in killing any enemies in the game at all. Remember that you are not allowed to kill bosses either. You must deplete their stamina by shooting them with the Mk22 or EZ Gun. During gameplay you can check under :opt: > Records & Titles > Humans Killed = 0. This must remain at 0 until end of game. Killing animals is fine. During the motorcycle chase you are allowed to shoot enemies with non-lethal guns, they will crash their motorcycles but don’t count as a kill. During Shagohod boss in the final phase remember to not shoot Volgin with the RPG and use non-lethal guns on him.

Gastronome
Achieve a 100% for your Food Collection
Gold
*MISSABLE*

For this trophy you must find AND EAT all food items in the game. Unlike previous iterations, this is NOT for acquiring the Markhor rank, as plants are not required.

You can check your progress under Main Menu > Extras > Food Collection. The progress in the top right corner must show 100%. Eating food also increases the progress and is mandatory for the trophy.

It’s best to keep a manual save every 2-3 areas. Food progress is shared across all manual saves and carries over between playthroughs. If you missed a food or forgot to eat it, you can load the nearest save and grab it from there. You can also jump between saves and it will count retroactively in the Food Collection menu.

*MISSABLE*

This is the hardest trophy in the game. However, compared to the PS4/PS5 Master Collection (2023), this is a fair bit easier as there’s no save limit, you can do it in New Game+, and shooting all 64 Ga-Ko collectibles unlocks a ghillie suit (AT-Camo) that doubles your camo bonus to render you nearly invisible. Foxhound Rank is awarded in the results screen at the end of a playthrough if you meet specific requirements and play on Extreme difficulty.

Foxhound requirements:

  • Difficulty: Extreme (or European Extreme)
  • Play time: 5 hours of less
  • Continues: 0
  • Alert Phase: 0
  • Humans killed: 0
  • Serious injuries: 20 or less
  • Total damage taken: 5 LIFE bars or less
  • LIFE Medicine used: 0
  • Special items used: No (Stealth Camo, EZ gun, Infinity facepaint)

At first glance this might sound daunting, however with updated gameplay, new item additions, use of NG+, the generous time limit and removal of save limits, this is actually a fair bit easier than the master collection. All of the changes create opportunities for different strategies in the remake.

Extreme Difficulty differences:

  • Enemies see you from much further away, especially with a low camo index
  • More guards in every area
  • Bosses deal and take much more damage
  • Fewer animals and other food sources
  • Less ammo capacity and not given as much from drops
  • If playing on European Extreme difficulty only, an alert causes a gameover

General tips:

  • New Style vs Legacy Style control schemes – New to the remake is the ‘New Style’ control scheme. This effectively lets you play the game like a modern third person shooter. Such as over the shoulder aiming, crouch running, and a free moving camera. This makes the game feel much easier to play for the most part. I recommend playing New Style, the only disadvantage is having to deal with bullet drop on the Mk22, compared to Legacy style, meaning it’s only effective from a short to medium range.
  • Ghillie Suit (AT-Camo) – If you shot all 64 Ga-Ko on your first playthrough, you will be awarded the Ghillie Suit, this is a very overpowered item that doubles the advantage of camos worn, for example if wearing the leaf camo would give you 10% extra camo, it would be instead give you 20%. It is extremely useful for almost every area in the game. You can reach 90-95% camo when crawling almost anywhere, meaning you can easily sneak past lots of enemies. Do not start your attempt without this invaluable item.
  • New Game Plus – Unlike previous iterations of the game, you can start NG+ on any difficulty. This allows you to carry over all camos you found on your first playthrough, including boss camos and all the ones that unlocked upon finishing the game from the “I like” choices. This allows for some different strategies in some areas and also combines with the Ghillie Suit quite effectively as well.
  • Stats tracking – In the remake you can track all stats for your current playthrough, so you can see how many kills, alerts, injuries and so on. Check this regularly by pressing :opt: > Records & Titles to view this information. This is very useful to make sure you haven’t accidentally killed someone or triggered an alert without realizing.
  • Skip all cutscenes and radio calls – You need to skip all cutscenes and radio calls as these count towards your time.
  • Timer – The time can be paused whenever you like by going into the pause menu with :opt: . The timer does NOT pause if you use the weapon, codec, camo or radio quick menus mapped to the D-pad, or when in the backpack, food, and cure menus.
  • Save limit – There are absolutely no save limits in the remake, this means you can save in every area and also rely on autosaves. If you make a mistake you can re-load your save in the same area and try again.
  • Take your time if needed – Take it slow if needed but bear in mind that guards will catch a glimpse of you or spot you entirely even if you are at 50% camo from a fair distance, although the ghillie suit helps to alleviate some of this. Remember that the 5 hour time limit is very generous, it can be done in under 2 hours.
  • Spider Camo and food – There are no meal limits in the remake, so if you wanted to combine the Ghillie Suit with the Spider camo, you can do this much more frequently if you want. It drains stamina quickly but gives you a very high camo index at all times while worn, which can let you pass through some areas much more easily. Combined with the ghillie suit, you can run around in any area when stood up with 80% camo, crouch walking at 90-95%. Even on extreme you’ll almost never be spotted even when close to enemies this way, just make sure to have plenty of food on you if you want to rely on this more.
  • Mk22 Suppressors – This isn’t as important this time around, as being able to carry over camos and use of the Ghillie Suit makes sneaking past guards easier, meaning you won’t need as many suppressors, but you should at least grab the 2 in the Ponizovje Warehouse both times you come through it, just in case.
  • Ammo Management – The game has dynamic ammo drops, if you are low on Mk22 ammo, the game will drop more Mk22 ammo. Don’t pick up any unnecessary lethal weapons apart from say, the M37 for the The Pain respectively. This way you won’t get any drops for weapons you didn’t pick up, and therefore won’t take the place of potential Mk22 ammo drops.
  • Tactical Reload – There is a mechanic in the game that lets you skip reload animations. For example weapons such as the MK22 and Mosin-Nagant, you have to load after each shot is fired. You can avoid this by tapping double tapping  :right2: after firing a shot, this quickly un-equips then re-equips your weapon, letting you fire again quicker than what it would take to ready or reload for the next shot normally. This is especially useful with the M37, Mosin-Nagant and RPG.

Some specific area and boss tips:

  • Dolinovodno (virtuous mission) – Shoot the hornets’ nest above the guard and he will run across the bridge and the rest of the guards ahead will run with him out of the area, meaning you can just run through the area unseen with ease.
  • Ocelot Unit – At the start, you can run out of the door, crouch next to the crate in front of you, and throw a stun grenade when they appear at the doorway to take out 3 or 4 of them. If you don’t want to use that riskier method, then hide under the bed and shoot their feet with the Mk22 when they come in, and they’ll eventually all fall asleep. You can then use the hatch and shoot some others from the crawl space that are moving around outside, just be wary of the sniper on the roof when you come out. With use of the Ghillie Suit you can get closer to them to offset the bullet drop of the Mk22, carefully take out the rest of them this way.
  • Ocelot – The grenade camo and stun grenades can make this fight extremely quick and easy with some luck. At the start of the fight, shoot him once with the Mk22. When he’s stood around while his men try to shoot you, nail him with a stun grenade, headshot him again. You can keep trying to throw stun grenades safely from cover on the left, make sure to shoot down the hornets’ nests to distract him, this allows for more easy headshots or stun grenades. You can also shoot him while he’s reloading, sometimes he’ll accost his men for interfering, giving you another chance to shoot him.
  • The Pain – Make sure to pick up the M37 Shotgun just before this fight or have smoke grenades. This fight is trickier than the master collection, due to the bullet drop on the Mk22 making headshots a bit harder to hit. For his bee armor use smoke grenades with the grenade camo if you have them, or the M37 shotgun to remove it temporarily, if you don’t use smoke, make sure to equip the sneaking suit. You can go into the water to avoid his attacks. For his bullet bee attack, the trick of going into first person to avoid it no longer works, so dive into the water when you see it coming. When he uses a bee grenade, you can shoot it with the M37 and it will drop next to him, explode and damage his armor. His attack pattern is random and can be very annoying, just try hit him with headshots when he is vulnerable, you can find M37 and Mk22 ammo on the far end platform when you run low.
  • Ponizovje South – If you have the croc cap you can just swim all the way to the end, with the Brown face paint you won’t have to come up for air.
  • Ponizovje Warehouse Docks – This area is tricky, if you can knock out the first guy on the pier quickly, you can shoot the 2 barrels, one next to the other guard in view and the one on the right, this will blow up the guards but will NOT count as lethal kills. This will also lower The End’s stamina slightly for the boss fight later.
  • Graniny Gorki – Use the scientist uniform in the outer walls and you’ll be taken inside by the guards, this is faster. Make sure to grab the Cig-gas Spray. Scientists will not detect you in box so you can make use of this, they just stare right at you. If you didn’t grab the box you can quickly run past them or cig spray them to knock them out.
  • The Fear – Remember the trick to use the fake death pill, a stun grenade, then gunning him down with a legal lethal weapon? This no longer works so he must be fought normally. This isn’t too bad with use of the grenade camo and stuns. Start by using the fake death pill, revive when he turns around, nail him with a stun grenade and then a headshot, use the thermal goggles to keep track of him, stay in cover behind trees and shoot him when he stops moving. Throw down any poisonous or rotten food sources you may have. Eventually he will get hungry and run for food, he will prioritise any food you have thrown down, if he eats anything rotten or poisonous, it will stop him from recovering any stamina, he is also vulnerable while doing this, try to hit him with stuns and then the Mk22. You’ll likely be low on Mk22 ammo after this, you can replenish it on your way back through the warehouse, from the boats on the docks, and also from guards in the upcoming area before The End, make sure you have plenty of ammo going into that fight.
  • The End – Save in the area, but make sure to beat him before going to sleep or anything else. If you turn off the game here and come back after several hours and load your save, The End will have found you, put you to sleep and you will be placed a few areas back. This means you will have to backtrack all the way back to the fight area. For the fight itself, make use of your ghillie suit for stealth and the thermal goggles to track him down. Once you get close and at an angle where he can’t see you, stand up and equip the white tuxedo, this silences your footsteps as long as you keep it clean so don’t prone or roll with it equipped. With this you can run right up to him at full speed and hold him up, then use the Mk22 to damage his stamina. Use the goggles to track him down again and repeat this process until you defeat him, just change out of the tuxedo after he runs away as it has a terrible camo index, if you run out of ammo, use the cig gas spray instead. In the remake you can’t loop him with stun grenades when he runs away, so don’t even try doing this. Make sure to beat him normally and WITHOUT advancing your consoles time so he dies of old age or he won’t drop his weapon afterwards. Pick up the Mosin-Nagant after the fight as it is vital for The Fury, Volgin, Shagohod and The Boss fights.
  • Krasnogorje Mountain areas – Equip the animals camo and desert face pain, combined with the ghillie suit you will have 90% camo when crouch walking, so you can just quicky sneak through all of the mountain areas, only taking out guards in your direct path. Make sure to grab the Mk22 ammo from crawling through the rock in the middle of the first area if you are low after The End fight.
  • The Fury – The Mosin-Nagant is the key here, although it does a bit less damage to him than in the original game. I recommend using the black camo with the ghillie suit, he’ll have a much harder time seeing you. Shoot him 3 times using the tactical reload, it doesn’t matter where you hit him as body shots do the same as headshots. After 3 shots, roll away and quickly move down to the opposite end of the area. He should lose track of you, so peak down each corridor until you find again, repeat the same thing. At half health he becomes much more aggressive and the fight can quickly spiral out of control, but you can still avoid him finding you if you keep moving with high camo, but you might need a bit of luck here, switch to the flame camo if things get too hectic. Keep moving and get ready for an opening, usually when he charges his jetpack is the best time during the latter part of the fight.
  • Groznyj Grad Weapons Lab: East – Put on the scientist camo and go up the stairs, immediately knock out the guard here with your cig-gas spray and move him away from the door. wait for Raikov to come out and spray him too. Then you can easily drag him across the walkway to the locker room.
  • Torture Room (Prison Cell) – Grab the fork and use it in the cure menu to remove the fake death pill and more importantly, the transmitter. When the guard makes rounds he will throw you some food, throw it back at him and wait for him to come around again. Repeat this 2 more times for a cutscene, he will give you the cig-gas spray. Wait until he comes around once more and throws you food (grab it) and is looking at you, knock him out with the spray then open the door by calling frequency 144.75 on your radio. Shake him down for smoke grenades and ensure your stamina is high (use a healing radio frequency) for the next section.
  • Groznyj grad Southeast – The grenade trick no longer works in the remake. So the next few areas are tricky. As soon as you come out of the door, there is a guard on the left round the corner, wait for him to turn around, immediately hug the wall ahead whilst crouch rolling until you reach the boxes, a guard will be on the other side, if you were quick he shouldn’t have seen you. Wait for him to turn away and then roll to the crawlspace, this may take several tries.
  • Groznyj Grad Northwest – Run forwards and towards the bottom row of tanks, crouch walk to the other tank and a guard should have noticed you, he will come over, when he does creep around the tank, run up with his back turned and immediately use your cig spray on him, if you are quick he won’t cause an alert before you spray him. Do the same with the other guard near the tanks who should be walking away from you, run up and spray him. Move further up near the car after the tanks, you will see a guard on the right near the searchlight. Throw a food item down to lure him closer to you, run up behind him and spray him. After this, move further up but watch out for the dog, throw smoke grenades to obscure the dog and hopefully the guard near the exit, if you didn’t smoke the guard, quickly run up to him and spray him, he should have his back turned if you followed these instructions and the guard on the upper left should also be too far away to see you properly. Then quickly go under the pipes and exit the area.
  • Tikhogornyj: Behind Waterfall – Grab Cardboard Box B here just before the ladder room. It’s lets you take a shortcut in the next area.
  • Groznyj Grad Northwest (revisited) – Use the splitter camo and your ghillie suit, sneak up to the truck near the exit you took earlier. Climb in to the back of the truck and equip Cardboard Box B, this will take you straight to Groznyj Grad Weapons Lab: West. You can backtrack to the locker room where you stashed Raikov earlier to get the Maintenance suit, but with a normal camo and the ghillie suit, you can opt to sneak around the weapon lab instead if you want.
  • Groznyj Grad Weapons Lab: Main Wing – Equip the Maintenance camo and plant the C3 on all 4 fuel tanks. Stay clear of the mechanics, if one is too close to a fuel tank the use the cig-gas spray to knock him out. Equip the sneaking suit before planting the last of the C3.
  • Volgin – This can be a tough fight, equip the sneaking suit. Previous strategies in the original game involving the cig spray seem to be ineffective, spamming stun grenades also doesn’t work very well as he will jump around a lot. In the first phase start off with a stun grenade for a bit of damage. Then you want to keep baiting his electric beam attack he does almost every time you equip a gun, bait the attack, un-equip your gun so the beam doesn’t follow you, and CQC slam him once the attack is finished and roll over him for a bit more damage. Repeat this until you reach the 2nd phase where things get more complicated. He will start off by using a wide area-of-effect bullet attack, prone to avoid this. You can make this a lot easier though. First equip the Mask, Volgin will say “ivan, is that really you?”, try to get 3 headshots with the Mosin-Nagant using the tactical reload, then remove the mask quickly before he goes berserk, this will put him down to one bar. Do not bait the electric attack, he fires 3 beams at once now and it seems harder to avoid in the remake. If he starts absorbing electricity from the panel you can score a quick headshot. For his other bullet attack where he fires them rapidly at you, try to roll in to him to interrupt the attack, it’s very difficult to dodge this otherwise and it inflicts heavy damage. When he is on low stamina, use a fake death pill, Volgin will approach you and then turnaround, revive yourself and you can then headshot him a few times for free with the Mosin-Nagant, hopefully finishing him off.
  • Escape sequences – Equip the Cold War camo. This has the special property of making it so when facing enemies with the soviet side of the camo, they won’t shoot Snake. Make sure to face the few RPG enemies in Groznyj Grad and try to take them out, otherwise they might fire and kill you in one shot. Use your Mk22 and Stun Grenades to take out enemies, anything you do with them will not count as a kill, even if the bikes or floating platforms crash and explode as a result. Just keep facing enemies and taking them out and you’ll get through most of the escapes with little to no damage received.
  • Shagohod – This is essentially the same regardless of difficulty, it just has more health. Shoot the treads with the RPG and then its weakpoint while it’s immobilized. Shoot down any missiles with the Patriot. When on the ground, shoot the treads with the RPG and then quickly headshot Volgin with the Mosin-Nagant, it takes 7 headshots to defeat him.
  • Eva Escort – These sections are not very difficult. Grab a few food items for EVA at the start as you will need to feed her a couple of times. In the first area move to the branching paths, crouch at the first tree here, turn around and wait for enemies to show up. Once they do throw a stun grenade at them and quickly take the right path across the log bridge all the way to the end of the area, you shouldn’t get spotted. In the 2nd escort area, just take your time, utilise a high camo index and the thermal goggles to pick off guards. Take the left branching path and take out all the hidden snipers in the grass using the thermal goggles to spot them, there are several of them here.
  • The Boss – This fight is a pushover with the Mosin-Nagant and ghillie suit. Start off by countering her CQC attack, pressing :r2: as soon as you hear the ‘woosh’ prompt, the timing is stricter on extreme. When she is on the ground score a quick headshot on her. Equip the snow camo, snow paint and the ghillie suit, with such high camo you can basically just hide in cover and she won’t ever be able to see you, just keep getting headshots on her with the Mosin-Nagant from a distance, hiding in cover when she starts shooting back at you, then repeat the process. If you lose track of her, switch to the thermal goggles to find her, it’s an easy fight this way even on extreme.

Thanks for the guide. I hope that Konami will release Mgs 4 on modern consoles. P.S. Will there be a guide for Dying light the beast, or is this game worse than dying light 2?

Thank you for the trophy guide. I’m glad this remake’s Platinum trophy is easier than the 2023 remaster, but I’d have preferred it to be as easy as the HD PS3 version (I’ll probably just need to use a video walkthrough to earn the Foxhound trophy). Also, I love that there is not even a single trophy for that irrelevant multiplayer mode (which is releasing in late 2025).

It easily can be added later. So?
Obviously, they will not add trophies for MP mode, which maybe will be released in few months after.

Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption II have multiplayer trophies required for the Platinum trophy, but those modes were not available at launch. I expect the same for GTA VI. I’m just grateful that Konami is not doing what modern Rockstar Games does with their trophy lists (at least when it comes to earning the Platinum trophy).

So to be clear I can play the game on normal and new game plus switch difficulty to extreme??

I am asking for this distinction due to the fact that in the original (PS2) HD collection and Master Collection new game plus is restricted to the difficulty.

example you play extreme new game plus is only extreme no other difficulty.

Correct, you can play first playthrough on whatever difficulty. Then New Game+ lets you select any difficulty you want. I did 1st playthrough on Very Easy. Then New Game+ I switched to Extreme to qualify for Foxhound rank.

Frankly if it weren’t for the trophy for simply starting the game we be looking at a 7 or 8 hour platinum but hey thanks for the guide it was handy for a couple of spots for sure!

I did want to point out, both War Has Changed and Old Snake, New Tricks say to play/start the game in Legacy style. I think this is a typo as shouldn’t one have the New Style start and one have the Legacy start?

In my experience, you’re better off using the shotgun or RPG for any GA-KO/Kerotan targets in the #53–61 range that appear during the escape driving segments. Some are snipe-able, but for some trying to snipe these – especially the ones whilst moving – is going to be insanely tricky. Splash damage from the RPG (or in some cases M37) made things far more manageable, especially for the ones on the Groznyj Grad Runway and Lazorevo. Plus, if you accidentally kill someone (I never did) you can reload the checkpoint. The moment you collect a GA-KO/Kerotan, it’s permanently saved, even if you revert to an earlier save. I’d recommend making a save in every new screen whilst in the vehicle, prioritising getting the collectibles regardless of no-kill methods, and then re-loading if you accidentally kill someone en-route to a collectible.

Snake camo + AT camo (ghillie suit) gives you around 90%-95% camo index while prone/crawling in every environment, as far as I can tell. You can crawl by everyone right in front of them without an alert.
