God of War Ragnarok How to Get Hacksilver Fast

November 15, 2022 by PowerPyx Leave a Comment

Hacksilver is the currency, or money, in God of War Ragnarok. Hacksilver is used to purchase gear and materials at the blacksmith shop and to pay for any equipment upgrades.

The bad news first, in the early game there are no super fast farming methods to get large amounts of hacksilver. But in the late-game and after the story there are a few methods to get millions of hacksilver within a few minutes.

Method 1: Remnants of Asgard

Availability: Endgame after finishing the story

By far the best way to make the most amount of Hacksilver in the shortest amount of time is to defeat all 10 Remnants of Asgard. The downside is that they only spawn in the endgame, after finishing the main story.

They are groups of strong enemies, at each of their locations is a red “Remnant Chest”. These chests contain between 25,000 – 250,000 Hacksilver. The exact amount you get is slightly random each time you do it but all 10 of them can be done pretty quickly. If you find them difficult you can change to “Give Me Story” difficulty in the gameplay settings. From all 10 Remnants you should get around 1-2 Million Hacksilver total in just a few minutes.

Method 2: Wishing Well in Vanaheim Crater

Availability: After Main Quest 13: Creatures of Prophecy

The Wishing Well in Vanaheim is a hidden area. The requirement is that you finished Favor: Scent of Survival, which is available after Main Quest 13: Creatures of Prophecy. The Wishing Well is then accessed via either The Jungle (after making the water flow again) or The Sinkholes.

Around the Wishing Well is an interaction point where you can throw crystal shards in the water to get various crafting materials, armor pieces, and large amounts of Hacksilver. You must destroy and collect the yellow crystals found in the Crater area of Vanaheim. It will empty all the yellow crystals from your inventory in one interaction with the Wishing Well. The more crystals you have, the more hacksilver and crafting materials you get.

Method 3: Muspelheim Trials

Availability: After Main Quest 10: Forging Destiny (needed to get 2 Muspelheim Seeds)

The Muspelheim Trials give you between 1000 – 100,000 Hacksilver per Trial. The earlier Trials give only 1000 but can be done at lower equipment levels, while the later ones are best done after the story when you are stronger. The good thing is that the Trials are infinitely repeatable so this is a real “infinite hacksilver” farming method.

You can change the difficulty under Settings > Gameplay > Difficulty. Obviously, the easiest setting will make the farming process much faster. Try to farm higher-tier trials for more hacksilver. The stronger your equipment gets, the easier it becomes. Remember that the game uses your “equipment level” to determine how difficult an encounter will be (the number shown in top left corner of the weapons menu). If enemies have purple health bars they are 3 equipment levels above you and it’s a tough fight, purple means 2 levels difference, orange is 1 level difference, yellow is equal level, and green is 1 level below yours. On the lowest difficulty setting they are all quite doable even at equipment level 5 – 6.

See God of War Ragnarok Muspelheim Trials Guide for how to reach the secret Trials area and how to win them all.

Method 4: Sell Gear and Crafting Materials you no longer need

Availability: From the start, anytime

Not exactly a farming method, but it can be easily overlooked. At the blacksmith shops you can sell Resources and Gear you don’t need right now. Especially the low-grade crafting materials that can be bought back with Hacksilver can safely be sold, once you reach the endgame to make hacksilver quickly you can buy back more than you’ll ever need. So during the story this can be a good and fast way to make hacksilver to buy upgrades you do need. Selling Gear isn’t ideal but you can rebuy/recraft it later. So if you no longer like an armor but really want to upgrade another, this can be a decent option. Just don’t sell high-grade crafting materials that are hard to come by (anything that isn’t for purchase in the “Special Items” > “Resources” Tab at the blacksmith).

Method 5: Do Favors

Availability: From the start, anytime

Not really a “farming” method, but Favors (Side Quests) reward you with Hacksilver and XP. So do them as you go through the game. They don’t give a lot of Hacksilver but it is a straightforward way to make hacksilver early on.

See God of War Ragnarok All Favors (Side Quests).

That’s all the best methods for quick Hacksilver in GOW Ragnarok.
