Song of the Sands is a Favor (Side Quest) for Kratos in God of War Ragnarok. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the Song of the Sands Side Quest. For an overview of all quests in the game see God of War Ragnarok All Favors.
Requirement: Access to The Forbidden Sands (complete Main Quest 6: The Reckoning & Favor: Secret of the Sands)
Reward: 1500 Kratos XP, 375 Freya XP, Clears the storm in The Forbidden Sands
Objectives:
- Find the Hafgufa cave entrance
- Reach the Hafgufa
- Destroy the Hafgufa’s bindings
- Open the hive cage
Starting Location: Song of the Sands
Song of the Sands is automatically started after arriving in The Forbidden Sands in Alfheim, which can be accessed after completing Main Quest 6: The Reckoning.
Find the Hafgufa cave entrance
Head north to the cave and climb down.
Reach the Hafgufa
Break the soundstone and grapple to the right.
Continue grappling through the area until you reach some dense hive matter, which can be broken by bouncing your axe on the crystal.
Destroy the wretch nest and continue. Deal with all the Grims and read the Rune Read on the wall.
Descend further down and clear the dense hive matter to continue.
Clear another room of Grims and Light Elves, then climb the wall. Before you continue, turn around and throw you axe to destroy some dense hive matter, and climb that wall all the way to find a Legendary Chest.
Go through to the next area and drop below to clear the hive matter, then head towards the Hafgufa.
Destroy the Hafgufa’s bindings
Break the dense hive matter and cross the gap, then use sonic arrows and your axe to cut the first set of hive matter.
Grapple back to the previous spot to clear the second set of hive matter, then go back to hit the third set.
Open the hive cage
Go through the new passage, kill the Bergsra and grab the Artefact and Legendary Chest.
Climb up and use the purple crystals to destroy the dense hive matter.
Head to the surface and travel slightly west to destroy the hive cage.
This finishes Song of the Sands Side Quest in God of War Ragnarok.
