Master of the Wilds
Complete all Hunting Challenges.
There are 10 Hunting Challenges. In them you have to track down and kill certain creatures.
All challenges can be done in free roam, but some of them won’t be possible till later in the game (for example Graugs only spawn after reaching the second map).
There are no missable monsters. You can still do everything after beating the story. The challenge progress is displayed on your world map.
Some of these creatures don’t always spawn in the shown locations! The Horned Graug is by far the rarest one. If the creatures aren’t spawning, then simply fast travel back to the nearest forge tower and check the location again. It can take up to 20 tries to get the Horned Graug to spawn. The others usually spawn within 1-3 tries.
The easiest way to kill Graugs and Caragors is to mount them and then use the “Dispatch” skill. It will immediately kill the monsters.
#1 – Kill 3 Spiders – 0:05
#2 – Kill 5 Flying Creatures – 0:40
#3 – Kill 3 Caragors – 1:13
#4 – Kill 4 Rats – 2:14
#5 – Kill 8 Ghuls – 3:20
#6 – Kill 3 Bats – 4:15
#7 – Kill 1 Graug – 4:50
#8 – Kill a Dire Caragor – 5:39
#9 – Kill a Ghul Matron – 6:23
#10 – Kill a Horned Graug – 7:21
Black Celebration
Poison a Captain at his own Feast.
Before trying this you must have beaten the Story mission called “The Outcasts”! This is one of the early missions and it will grant you the Poison ability. Without it you cannot obtain this trophy / achievement.
Feasts randomly show up on your map and are marked with a red icon. If no Feast is available then scroll over a Forge Tower on your map and advance the time. This will make new events spawn. Do this until a Feast appears.
There are multiple drinking bowls in each Feast. The Captain will walk from one bowl to the next. You must poison one of them without being seen and wait for the Captain to drink from it.
If you are detected you must quit the game to try the event again!
Height of Despair
Use Strike From Above while at least 60 feet above your target.
A great location for this is at the most eastern forge tower of Udûn (the map where the game starts). There are a couple of enemies roaming the area. Attract one Uruk by pressing R2 + Triangle (PlayStation) / RB + Y (Xbox). Lure the Uruk all the way to the tower, climb up and perform a Stealth Takedown from above (R2 + Square on PlayStation / RB + X on Xbox).
The Uruk may not be in combat mode when doing this! You must stay undetected, or else you will only knock the Uruk down instead of performing a stealth kill.
A New Master
Brand a Captain while in combat.
To be able to do this you must first beat the story mission “Queen of the Shore” and buy the “Combat Drain” ability. Beating the mission will unlock the Brand ability and buying “Combat Drain” allows you to brand enemies during combat, without having to grab them.
Captains spawn randomly all over the map, but each one of them works for this. Bring down their health until the skull symbol turns green, then unleash your Combat Drain finisher several times.
No Power in Numbers
Help a Captain survive a Recruitment Power Struggle, and then kill him and all his new recruits.
Before you can do this you must play till the end of the story where you get the ability to command Uruks. You need to brand a Captain and command him to infiltrate a Warchief. This does not always unlock a recruitment mission though. It’s random what type of mission you get, so just keep commanding captains until a recruitment mission shows up on your map.
In this mission you need to defend your captain and kill other Uruks. After successfully beating the mission you need to kill your Captain and all his recruits.
Iron of Death
Issue a Death Threat, and then successfully kill the target.
To do this you must buy the “Death Threat” ability. Now dominate any enemy you want and press Square (PlayStation) / X (Xbox) to issue a death threat. Mark the Uruk you have chosen, hunt him down and kill him.
The White Rider
Liberate 30 slaves in 180 seconds while riding a caragor.
A great location for this is on the left side of the second map (“Sea of Núrnen”, where the second half of the story takes place). If you have the Shadow Mount ability you can easily mount any Caragor from a distance.
Fast travel to the Forge Tower in the south-west. This will be your starting point. Also make sure it’s daytime in your game! This is very important because the slave locations are different at night. You can advance the time by scrolling over a Forge Tower on your map.
The slaves are accompanied by one or two Uruks. Take them out to liberate the slaves.
Burning Vengeance
Perform an Execution on a flaming Berserker.
Berserkers are the enemies with two Axes. To make them burn you have to push them into a campfire. Then you have a couple of seconds to land an execution finisher (Triangle + Circle on PlayStation / Y + B on Xbox).
Any stronghold works great for this. There is one on the far right side of Udûn. Look for a campfire and let an enemy set off the alarm. Now lots of Uruks will come running to your location. Although the enemies are absolutely random, there is almost always a Berserker in the group. Build up a combo streak, then throw him into the fire. You can throw enemies by pressing R1 (PlayStation) / RB (Xbox). Perform the finisher as soon as the Berserker starts burning.
The campfire can only be used once. So if you don’t land a finisher quick enough, or if no Berserker spawns, then fast travel back to the nearest Forge Tower to try it again.
Stinking Rebels
Brand 5 Bodyguards of a Warchief, turning them against him in combat.
This can only be done after getting the ability to command enemies. You will earn this skill automatically towards the end of the story. The trophy / achievement won’t be possible until the end of the game.
Step 1: Command 5 different Captains to betray / infiltrate one and the same Warchief. You need to dominate the Captains in combat, then press triangle (PlayStation) / Y (Xbox) to command them.
Step 2: Complete all the infiltration missions of your Captains (blue symbols on the map).
Step 3: Go to Sauron’s Army in the pause menu and click on your target Warchief. 5 of the Captains under your control must be connected to him as bodyguards.
Step 4: Fight the Warchief and press ↑ to activate your Captains.
A Mighty Doom
Acquire a level 25 Rune.
Rune levels are based on points. The following requirements must be met to get a level 25 rune:
+20 for the enemy being level 20 (let him kill you for level-ups)
+2 for the enemy being a Warchief
+1 for performing a revenge kill (the Warchief killed you before, he must have a red triangle above his head in Sauron’s Army overview)
+1 for knowing the weaknesses of the Warchief (interrogate Captains to obtain this information)
+1 for exploiting the Warchief’s Fear / Hate (these can be viewed in Sauron’s Army, e.g. fear of burning, fear of caragors or hate of defeat, hate to see bodyguards suffer etc.)
=25 points that equal a level 25 rune.
Do not cast a death threat on the target warchief! Death Threats will make epic runes drop instead of level 25 runes.
Also back up your save game before fighting the level 20 warchief! If he drops an epic rune you can get back your previous save and try it again. He drops something different every time.

Note for Repaid in Blood trophy, the online services for Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor will be shutting down on December 31, 2020. So if you didn’t earn the trophy after that said date, you will not be able to obtain the Platinum trophy for it. So just do a Vendetta mission and complete it to get the Repaid in Blood trophy before December 31, 2020 if you wish to obtain the Platinum trophy.
