In the Shadow of the Mine is the thirty-seventh main quest in Hogwarts Legacy. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the In the Shadow of the Mine Main Mission.
Requirement: having completed Professor Weasley’s Assignment (Transformation), Level 22
Reward: 260 XP
Quest Info: Sebastian met me at the Overlook Mine. He realized it’s the location depicted in the triptych. We had to fight our way through the mine, past spiders and Loyalists, until we found a room with a sealed chamber. Once we cleared the webs, we discovered runes on the wall that matched the note from the triptych, as well as a journal entry and another canvas. I told Sebastian that I’d been working with Lodgok. He was enraged, unable to see that not all goblins are like the ones that cursed Anne. I’m afraid I must continue without his help.

Starting Location: In the Shadow of the Mine
We’ve learned Transformation, a spell necessary to proceed in our main quest which now has us head north, in the region Upper Hogsfield where Sebastian awaits us.
Meet Sebastian by the Overlook
Fly to the location of the quest marker and talk to Sebastian at night. During the conversation, choose either dialogue option.
Reach the Entrance to the Mine
Proceed downhill towards the mine and eliminate the enemies along then way with either stealth or melee. Then, enter the mine.
Search for the Rune Symbol
Continue along the tunnel until you reach an area with some Loyalist goblins. Defeat them all, then use the crate in here with Wingardium Leviosa to reach the ledge that gets you closer to the next quest marker. If you’d like, there are also some lootable chests in this area.
Again, use Revelio and loot as you go. Slide down the slope to reach a new area. Loot it and then use Reparo on the bridge to continue on.
Defeat the spiders and continue down the tunnels. At the split, head right first. Walk through the roots and crouch to the right for a chest. Turn around, crouch through the opening again and then climb up the ledge on the right for another chest. Go back to the split and immediately on your right is another alcove with another chest. Now proceed through the next two quest markers.
Defeat the Enemies
Defeat the goblin loyalists and spiders.
Investigate the Cavern
Now use Revelio to highlight points of interest, including the three rune switches. Two of them are hiding behind some cobwebs you need to burn through, then quickly hit them all with Basic Casts to open the door.
Explore the Chamber
Enter the chamber, looking as you go, specifically Isisdora’s Journal Entry 3/7 and the triptych canvas piece from the chest.
Check on Sebastian
Now talk to Sebastian.
Use the Magic Passageway
Now interact with the crystallized wall in the room to get back to the Undercroft at Hogwarts.
Place the Portrait Into the Triptych
Now place the new canvas piece into the triptych.
Talk to Sebastian
And finally talk to Sebastian.
This finishes In the Shadow of the Mine in Hogwarts Legacy.
