Kingdom Come Deliverance: Questions and Answers Main Quest Walkthrough

Questions and Answers is the 15th main quest in Kingdom Come Deliverance (KCD). This walkthrough will guide you through all the objectives of the Questions and Answers Main Quest, including how to cure all the sick in Merhojed.

Questions and Answers triggers automatically after completing Baptism of Fire Main Quest.

Before you start

Before going on this quest you should bring the following things. They are needed later in the quest to cure a village from a sickness:

• 1 x Valerian (Herb) – bought from apothecary in Rattay (needed to produce the cure).
• 2 x Thistle (Herb) – bought from apothecary in Rattay (needed to produce the cure).
• 1 x Charcoal – bought from any blacksmith/forge (needed to produce the cure).
• Learn how to read by completing side quest “Mightier than the Sword”. You get this quest by talking to the bailiff in Rattay, he lives with the Scribe (Scribe icon is shown on the map, the house above the armorer shop). You need to be able to read to fight the cure for the sickness fast before anyone dies! If you don’t have the reading skill some people might die and you will miss the “Plague Doctor” trophy/achievement.
• (Optional) Saviour Schnapps (because there is a tricky step to brew a potion)

Go to the hall of the Upper Castle

From where you wake up, simply follow the waypoint to the upper castle of Rattay. There you will get a cutscene.

Find out what happened to Matthias

Travel to Merhojed and talk to any of the villagers on the streets. They will tell you where to find Matthias. He is laying on the floor inside the stables (northern-most building of the village). Go talk to him.

Ask the local bailiff about the situation

Your next stop is the bailiff (Melichar) who lives in the building just south of the stables (across the street from the stables). He will be marked on the map. Talking to him unlocks the side quest “Pestilence” which ties in with the main quest. Go do it now.

By talking to Melichar you get a side quest called “Pestilence“. Go do that quest now. The people of Merhojed, including the captive you want to interrogate, are sick and you must help them as soon as possible.

Interrogate the captive in Merhojed

After delivering the cure (the cause of the sickness was poisoned water), go talk to Melichar again. You can do this close to the end of Pestilence Side Quest, the waypoints during the side quest will guide you back to Melichar so everything goes hand in hand.

Melichar will be thankful that you delivered the correct cure in time and grant you access to the captive who is inside a barn just across Melichar’s house. Melichar will walk you there. Alternatively, see the location circled in red below for the captive’s location:

Give the cure against water-poisoning to the captive. Then advance time for 6 hours. He will be cured and you can interrogate him.

(Optional) Find out where the counterfeit coin is coming from

Be sure to interrogate the cured captive and exhaust all dialogue options. Ask him about the counterfeit coins.

After the interrogation, an angry villager called Straw will come storming in and wants to kill the captive. Pick dialogue “Let’s talk about this” –> (speech-icon) “You don’t want to be a murderer”. Straw has speech stat 0, so picking speech option will always succeed.

Take the Captive to Rattay Jail

Talk to the captive again and tell him you’ll take him to Rattay jail. Watch the fast travel sequence. Afterwards, leave the jail to get an autosave point and new objective.

Go and report to Sir Radzig at the lookout point by Talmberg

Fast travel back to Radzig in his camp. This concludes the Questions and Answers quest and triggers the next main quest “All That Glisters“. Enjoy a nice cutscene with Radzig.
