Guardians of the Galaxy Chapter 8 contains 5 Collectible Locations. This walkthrough will guide you to all collectibles in Chapter 8 in chronological order. Everything that’s needed for trophies and 100% completion is included: Outfits, Guardian Collectibles, Compendium Items, Archives.
All of the Collectibles are missable, the reason being that your progress reverts in Chapter Select to the progress you had when you played the Chapter for the first time (except Outfits which do stay). Finding missing items in Chapter Select doesn’t add them to your save later in the game. In other words, whatever you find through Chapter Select doesn’t get saved and doesn’t count towards trophies & achievements. Because of this it’s recommended to save in a different Manual Slot at the start of every Chapter. If you miss something you can reload the save to replay the Chapter right away. Make sure you save in a different slot each time, because the autosave automatically keeps overwriting the active Save Slot.
Chapter 8 – The Matriarch
Outfit – Star-Lord: Bad-Lord
About 20-30 minutes into the chapter, after escaping the chamber where the first big enemy encounter takes place, you’ll come to a cutscene where Rocket warns the guardians of not stepping into the red Warp Drive Fluid, but Drax jumps in anyway. Follow Drax through the fluid down the tunnel. Immediately after, turn to the right to find a pillar and command Drax to put it at the tunnel exit where you just came from. Climb up to find the Outfit chest at the top.
Archive: RE: She Has Come!
After a cutscene where Rocket is trying to hack a console and the rest of the Guardians are discussing “The Promise”, you’ll be in a room with lots of green monitors and computer consoles. From where you are when the cutscene ends, the collectible is straight behind you on the edge of a computer desk.
Guardian Collectible: Deep Mine Device
From the previous collectible, enter the next room. There’s a workbench straight ahead. To the right of the workbench are big gears you can climb up and reach an area above. The Guardian Collectible is there on the floor.
Archive: Notice Malfunction
In the same room/area as the last collectible. You will need to grab a battery from a dead Inquisitor to advance (robotic enemy on the floor). To the right of this dead Inquisitor is the archive on the floor.
Outfit – Drax: Cage Match
You will come to a part where you are on a flying platform in a huge golden hall with thousands of people at the bottom, and enemies shooting at you from other flying platforms. In total you will ride 3 platforms (in between them you land for enemy encounters). After the third flying platform part, you will land in a circular area. Behind where you landed, hidden out of sight behind some crates, is this costume chest.
