GTA Vice City Definitive 100% Completion Guide & Checklist

November 22, 2021 by Archavia 26 Comments

This Grand Theft Auto Vice City 100% Completion Guide & Checklist will show all the requirements for getting 100% completion within the game, which is required for the Done it All trophy/ achievement (updated for GTA Vice City Definitive Edition Remaster on PS5, Xbox Series X, PC). Nothing required for 100% completion is missable, thus you can complete everything on this list in any order you desire without fear of missing anything.

Cheats will disable all trophies, so you will need to meet all requirements normally. The game very rarely can crash, so it is recommended to save regularly to avoid losing progress while doing stuff like Rampages or Hidden Packages. A good way to do this is by utilizing a Vehicle Mission such as Paramedic or Taxi Driver, as the game will autosave both upon starting and finishing one of these missions, so you can simply start and end a mission if you want to make an autosave quickly.

Getting 100% completion will unlock the following:

  • 200 Health
  • 200 Armor
  • Replenishing ammo in all weapons
  • Double vehicle strength
  • Frankie outfit at Vercetti Estate
  • Ability to recruit up to 3 bodyguards at Vercetti Estate
  • Done it All trophy / achievement

100% Exploit: The mission “Checkpoint Charlie” for the Boatyard asset can sometimes glitch in a positive way. There are 6 variants of this mission, each with less time to complete and more money as a reward. However sometimes when you get in one of the boats at the Boatyard after first completing it, it will instead replay the initial mission (you can tell if it is the glitched initial mission if you start with a time of 3:00). If you complete this glitched mission, you will complete the Boatyard asset again, which will spawn a duplicate revenue pickup at the Boatyard as well as give you another 1% Completion. In order to repeatedly do this glitch, you simply need to save the game after completing a glitched run of it, and the next time you get into a boat at the Boatyard it will be the glitched mission. If you don’t save and try to do another run immediately, it will simply progress to the second variant of the mission. If you decide to utilize this glitch you can effectively skip certain content that is normally required for 100% and isn’t tied to other trophies / achievements, such as the Rampages or Taxi Driver mission.

Asset Missions

There are 20 Asset Missions in the game, and you must complete them all. These missions will appear on the map with the asset symbol when they are available. In order to unlock Asset Missions, you must first buy the respective asset first, which you can do after completing the mission “Shakedown”. There are also miscellaneous tasks to be done for Sunshine Autos and The Pole Position Club instead of regular missions. Upon completing a set of Asset Missions, you will begin to generate daily revenue at the respective asset. For a list of all asset property locations, please see GTA Vice City Purchasable Property Locations.

Boatyard

  • Checkpoint Charlie
    • To start this mission you must enter either of the speed boats at the boatyard. This is a simple checkpoint race, in which you must collect 26 checkpoints within a time limit. Upon completing it for the first time you can repeat it 5 more times for harder variants that have stricter times and different weather, but this is not necessary for completion, only for more money. This mission can potentially glitch and let you complete the initial mission multiple times instead of doing the optional harder variants, which will grant you an extra 1% completion for each time it glitches. See the glitch note in the introduction for more details.

Cherry Popper Ice Cream Factory

  • Distribution
    • To start this mission you must enter the Mr Whoopee at the factory. This is effectively a vehicle mission, in which you must deliver 50 ice creams in one go. Turn on your ice cream jingle and pull over by civilians to attract buyers. Every 4 ice creams you deliver will get you 1 wanted level, plus selling in gang territories will make them hostile. The best place to do this is in Vice Port just south of Cherry Popper, as there are no gangs here, a Pay’N’Spray, and plenty of people walking around. Simply drive around the block stopping at any civilians, and whenever you get a wanted level stop into Pay’N’Spray.

InterGlobal Studios

  • Recruitment Drive
  • Dildo Dodo
  • Martha’s Mug Shot
  • G-Spotlight – Not my First Time trophy / achievement can be done on this mission

  • The Driver
  • The Job

Phil’s Place

  • Gun Runner
  • Boomshine Saigon

Print Works

  • Spilling the Beans
  • Hit the Courier

Sunshine Autos

Instead of regular missions, Sunshine Autos has 4 Import Garage lists that must be completed, which require delivering certain themed vehicles to Sunshine Autos.

  • Street Cars
  • Expensive Cars
  • Sports Cars
  • Unique Cars

For a complete list of the Sunshine Autos Import Garage lists, please see GTA Vice City Sunshine Auto Import Garage Locations.

The Pole Position Club

Instead of regular missions, The Pole Position Club simply requires you to spend $300 on the Dance Rooms in the back of the club.

Vercetti Estate

  • Shakedown
  • Bar Brawl
  • Cop Land

Gang Missions

There are 13 Gang Missions in the game, and you must complete them all. These missions will appear on the map with the gang symbol when they are available.

  • Naval Engagement

  • Hog Tied

Assassination Missions

There are 5 Assassination Missions in the game, and you must complete them all. These missions will appear on the map with a phone symbol when they are available, and can be started at particular payphones around the map. As the name implies, these missions simply task you with assassinating targets, either within a time limit or under certain conditions.

  • Road Kill
  • Waste the Wife
  • Autocide
  • Check Out at the Check In
  • Loose Ends

Vehicle Missions

There are 5 Vehicle Missions in the game, and these can be started at any time by pressing  while in the respective vehicle type (or started automatically in the case of Pizza Boy). These require you to drive around the map completing a certain objective. While these can be done at any time (once available), it is recommended that you at least do Paramedic, Firefighter and Vigilante as early as possible, as the rewards from these are very beneficial throughout the game.

Firefighter

Firefighter missions will require a Fire Truck, and the only Fire Station can be located in Downtown on Vice City Mainland, meaning you will need access to the second island before you can do this. In order to complete it, you will need to reach and complete level 12 in one go. Each level will increase the number of fires to put out by 1, with level 1 starting with a single car on fire, and level 12 having 3 cars on fire, all full with passengers. When you put out a burning car the passengers will get out and start running around, and you must put them out. You will receive time with every fire put out and quickly have an excess of time, so the only thing to be careful of while doing this is making sure you don’t ram into any burning cars or run over any burning passengers, as this make you fail the mission.

Upon completing the Firefighter mission, you will become fireproof.

Paramedic

Paramedic missions will require an Ambulance. In order to complete it, you will need to reach and complete level 12 in one go. This mission tasks you with picking up injured civilians around the map, and returning them to the hospital, granting time both on pick up and (sometimes) on drop off, with the number required to rescue going up by 1 every level. The Ambulance has very poor handling and can flip very easily, so while doing this it is recommended to drive cautiously, and brake with :r1: when going around corners to avoid flipping. As the Ambulance can only hold 3 people at once, you will want to use your map to plan out your route each level so that you’re picking them up in an effective manner. Be careful not to run over any injured civilians or crash while moving them, as this will fail the mission.

Upon completing the Paramedic mission, you will unlock unlimited sprint.

Vigilante

Vigilante missions will require any law enforcement vehicle, including the Police Car, Rhino and Hunter (in the case of the Hunter the mission is called Brown Thunder, but it still counts as the same thing). In order to complete it, you will need to reach and complete level 12 in one go. Each level will increase the number of criminals to kill by 1, with level 1 starting with a single criminal in a car, and level 12 having 12 criminals split across 3 cars.

The easiest way to do this is either with the Rhino or Hunter, but these will require you to collect Hidden Packages to get easily. The Rhino will be available at the Fort Baxter Air Base after collecting 90 Hidden Packages, and the Hunter will be available at the same location after collecting 100 Hidden Packages (or alternatively at Lance Vance’s house after both completing the game and collecting 100 Hidden Packages). These vehicles will make Vigilante a joke, as the Rhino is effectively indestructible, destroys cars on impact and has a cannon, whereas the Hunter can cover ground incredibly quickly, has lock-on guns as well as rockets.

If you want to do this without collecting packages, you will need to use a regular law enforcement vehicle, of which the Police Car is the easiest to access. With this method you will want to use any variant of SMG (preferably with 2000+ bullets to ensure you don’t run out during the mission) and drive-by the criminals until they either get out of their cars or they blow up. Be careful when they get out as they can sometimes have shotguns or rifles which will destroy your vehicle very quickly. You will inevitably get a high wanted level while doing this method, meaning you will either need to find police bribes or quickly grab another vehicle to use a Pay’N’Spray. You will also likely need to change law enforcement vehicles several times during the course of this.

Upon completing the Vigilante mission, your armor will be upgraded to 150.

Pizza Boy

Pizza Boy will start automatically upon getting on the Pizza Boy bike that is parked behind any of the 3 Well Stacked Pizza Company restaurants around Vice City.  In order to complete it, you will need to reach and complete level 10 in one go. This mission tasks you with delivering pizzas to people around your area, starting with 1 pizza at level 1 and 10 pizzas at level 10. Pizzas can be delivered by aiming sideways with :circle: / :square: and throwing with :l1: . Your bike will be able to hold 6 pizzas at a time, and it will be restocked whenever you return to the restaurant with no pizzas. Because of this, the best way to do this mission is at the end of every level when you return to the restaurant, simply dump all your pizzas so that you receive a full set of 6 pizzas for the next level, allowing for more delivery mistakes and fewer trips back to the restaurant.

Upon completing the Pizza Boy mission, your health will be upgraded to 150.

Taxi Driver

Taxi Driver missions will require either a Taxi or Cabbie. You will need to complete an overall total of 100 fares to complete this, and it does not need to be done in a single sitting. This will simply require driving from point A to point B, picking up fares, and dropping them off. The game will autosave every time you start or end the Taxi Driver mission, so if you are worried about losing progress to a crash, you can simply end and restart the mission whenever you want.

Upon completing 100 total fares, all Taxis will have their horn replaced with a boost jump.

Off-Road Missions

There are 4 Off-Road Missions in the game, and these can be activated by getting into the respective vehicle. These do not appear on the map at all, but their locations can be found via the link below. These missions will require you to drive through a set of checkpoints that grant you extra time.

For a complete list of Off-Road Missions, please see GTA Vice City Off-Road Mission Locations.

RC Missions

There are 3 RC Missions in the game, and these can be activated by getting into a parked Toy Fun van at their respective spawns. These do no appear on the map at all, but their locations can be found via the link below. These missions will be checkpoint races with the 3 different RC vehicles. The first two will require you to win the race, while the third will simply require you to collect all checkpoints.

For a complete list of RC Missions, please see GTA Vice City RC Mission Locations.

Street Races

There are 6 Street Races in the game, and these are available from a board at Sunshine Autos after buying the asset. You must win these races for these to count. Each race will have small entry fee, and require you to find a car and head to the start line. These races aren’t difficult, simply use any sports car (which are absolutely abundant around Vice City) and you should be able to get a lead in every race very easily. Focus on getting a lead early, and then just take caution to avoid crashing, spinning out or flipping your car.

  • Terminal Velocity
  • Ocean Drive
  • Border Run
  • Capital Cruise
  • Tour!
  • V.C. Endurance

Hyman Memorial Stadium Events

There are 3 Stadium Events available at the Hyman Memorial Stadium, which can be located at the far northwest corner of the map in Downtown. These events rotate through each day (Hotring > Bloodring > Dirtring) and can only be started between 20:00 and 00:00 (8PM to midnight). You can tell which event is currently available as the sign above the entrance will display the event for the night. Sometimes the same event will be listed several days in a row, in the event this happens simply go forward days until it changes. You can quickly advance time by saving at Hyman Condo nearby, as saving advances time by 6 hours.

Hotring

Hotring is a stock car race where you must race around in a circuit for 12 laps, and you must finish first for completion. Your car will have a health bar, and the track will have a repair bay that you can stop in to repair your car if it gets too damaged. The other vehicles will drive very recklessly during this, often causing you to spin out. This can be quite annoying at times, but as long as you take caution and make sure to repair your car whenever it gets too damaged, winning this shouldn’t be too difficult. Don’t bother trying to destroy other cars, as more will come to replace them.

Bloodring

Bloodring is a destruction derby. For this event your goal is to reach the target time of 1 minute by collecting checkpoints around the arena. You will start with 30 seconds and every checkpoint you collect will give you 15 seconds. While this sounds easy, the other cars will both try and ram you as well as collect checkpoints themselves, making it a battle of attrition. This can be a little random, as you will likely need a few checkpoints close together without other cars around to complete it, but as long as you focus on the checkpoints and keep an eye on nearby cars it shouldn’t take too long to complete.

Dirtring

Dirtring is a checkpoint mission, where you must collect 32 checkpoints around the arena using a Sanchez dirt bike. These checkpoints will be spread around jumps, ramps and other obstacles. You don’t have a time limit for this, so you can take as long as you need to collect them all. While most of these are a simple case of driving around and collecting them, a few of them are located up thin ramps barely wide enough for your Sanchez to drive up, so you will need to take these slowly to make sure your bike doesn’t fall off.

Chopper Checkpoints

There are 4 Chopper Checkpoints in the game, and these can be activated by getting into the Sparrow at the respective locations. These do no appear on the map at all, but their locations can be found via the link below. These simply require you to fly through all the checkpoints at your own pace. The first 3 Chopper Checkpoints will become available after completing “Rub Out”, while the 4th one will become available after completing “G-Spotlight”.

For a complete list of Chopper Checkpoints, please see GTA Vice City Chopper Checkpoint Locations.

Rampages

There are 35 Rampages in the game, and these are timed missions that require you to to kill a certain number of gang members within 2 minutes with the provided weaponry. These can be started by picking up a floating skull icon at certain locations. Most of these are very easy as the gang members will spawn in large quantities around you, and only a few should cause issues.

For a complete list of Rampages, please see GTA Vice City Rampage Locations.

Unique Jumps

There are 36 Unique Jumps in the game. These are specific jumps off makeshift ramps that require you to land in a specific zone or area to complete. When you initiate a Unique Jump, your camera will slow down and go into cinematic mode, and if you are successful there will be a text notification on screen indicating this. These are best done with the PCJ-600 bike, as many jumps are off small ramps, and bikes can’t flip like a car can.

For a complete list of Unique Jumps, please see GTA Vice City Unique Jump Locations.

Hidden Packages

There are 100 Hidden Packages in the game, and these are your typical collectibles. Every 10 packages you collect will unlock a weapon/item at your safehouses. Many of these are hidden in obscure or hard to access areas.

For a complete list of Hidden Packages, please see GTA Vice City Hidden Package Locations.

Miscellaneous Tasks

Earn at least 45 points at the Rifle Range

The Rifle Range becomes available to you at Ammu-Nation in Downtown after completing the mission “The Shootist”. The Rifle Range is a timed shooting mission where you are given 2 minutes and 100 bullets to score as many points as possible on the three moving targets. Each target has five segments to it, and destroying all five will give you 1, 2 or 3 points. The closest target will give 1 point, the middle one 2 points and the furthest target 3 points. In order to complete this, you must get 45 points.

The best way to do this is to simply ignore the closest target and focus entirely on the back two targets to maximize points. If you destroy the back target 10 times and the middle target 10 times you will get 50 points, meaning you can afford to miss 10 shots/1 of each target and still meet the requirement. The time is pretty lenient so you will want line up your shot and let the target move into you reticle to make sure you don’t miss your shots.

Upon getting a score of 45 or higher, your reload speed for all weapons will be increased.

Purchase all 7 Safehouses

There are 7 safehouses spread across Vice City, 5 on the first island and 2 on the second island. You will need to purchase all of these for a total of $41,500.

For a complete list of Safehouses, please see GTA Vice City Purchasable Property Locations.

Rob all 15 Stores

There are 15 stores spread across Vice City, and you can rob these by aiming a gun at the clerk behind the counter. Doing so will give you a 2-star wanted level. These stores are the only enterable stores in the game aside from Ammu-Nations and Well Stacked Pizza Company restaurants.

For a complete list of Stores, please see GTA Vice City Robbable Store Locations.

For the trophy ‘Take the conolli’:

I popped it by doing Crazy Cone 19 times so I would get over 100m dollars. The first 7 times finish it with 0 seconds left. From the 8th time and so on with 1 second extra. For example 8th time with 1 second left. The 9th time with 2 seconds left. Every time your money should double. You can save your game inbetween. No need to do the boat glitch etc. There is a Youtube video showcasing this method.

I got this achievement by grabbing the fire truck and parking in front of the vercetti mansion, turning on the firefighter missions and then proceeding to drive in and out of the main entrance at the top of the stairs, every time you do so will complete 1 level. I did it to 177 and got £93,000,000 aswell.

The only gang that will ever become hostile are the Haitians, who are only located in Little Haiti on the second island. There should be no issues with any gangs, unlike in 3.

A major note on the Boatyard asset mission Checkpoint Charlie; be sure you complete it with the Fidelity setting on Performance, not on Fidelity. While on Fidelity, I’ve completed Checkpoint Charlie for the first time, then my game crashed. Did it two more times, crashed again both times too. So on the 4th time, I switched to Performance (the 60 FPS setting), did the race once more, and no crash. I don’t know if others had this issue where beating Checkpoint Charlie on Fidelity results in a crash before and after the patch that fixes the Cannoli trophy and that God awful rain, but I have to warn you about this issue.
TL;DR – Only clear Checkpoint Charlie while on the Performance setting to ensure that your game won’t crash afterwards.

I know this is like two years on, but try doing the boatyard race a second time. I got stuck on 99% last night, then just on a whim tried it again today, and that’s what ticked it over to 100%. I think it’s related to the glitch mentioned in the guide; if you don’t act on the glitch it doesn’t count the first go towards completion. After doing it a second time, I ended up with a second money collect icon, and all the goodies that come with 100%ing it.
