Kingdom Come Deliverance: Ginger in a Pickle Main Quest Walkthrough

Ginger in a Pickle is the 9th main Quest in Kingdom Come: Deliverance (KCD). This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the Ginger in a Pickle Main Quest.

It triggers automatically after completing Main Quest “The Hunt Begins”.

Question the Charcoal-Burners in the South

The first group of charcoal burners is found south of Neuhof. Talk to the Charcoal Burner Spokesperson in their camp. If they’re sleeping skip time until 10:00 AM. He does not have any info on Ginger’s location. No matter what dialogues you pick, he won’t know anything. He will point you to the next charcoal camp.

Question the northern Charcoal-Burners

After talking to the spokesperson in the first camp you will get a huge search area for charcoal miners in the woods near Talmberg. The screenshot below shows the charcoal miner location. They are in the clearing in the south of the search area. Talk to their spokesperson again, he will point you to the next camp.

This camp gets marked for you automatically. It’s near Talmberg. Just follow the river towards Talmberg and you’ll run into them. Talk to the charcoal-burner twin.

This is a defining moment in the story! If you want the “Merciful” trophy/achievement for not killing anybody you must have a high speech stat and lie to the charcoal workers that you already killed the bandits (dialogue “(Lie) the bandits are dead”).

You have two options. The faster, easier and recommended option is to lie and pick dialogue “(Lie) the bandits are dead”. I had speech level 9 when I did this. But if you don’t care for the Merciless trophy and your speech stat is too low to do this, then you must agree to kill the Bandits and do the next step.

(Optional Step) Kill the Bandits

This is an optional step if you did not lie to the coal workers. See the screenshot below for the bandit camp location. There are two bandits there. You can simply sneak up to them from behind and knock them out with / . However, you have to actually kill them / take their life. Just knocking them out will not complete the quest objective.

Find Ginger, the Missing Neuhof stableboy

If you lied to the coal miners about killing the bandits you can do this step directly. If you went to kill the bandits then return to them and tell them about it.

Either way they will tell you where to find Ginger. He is hiding in a small hut, roughly 100 meters north of the the third coal-burner camp (just run up the hill through the woods).

When talking to Ginger you must again decide whether to lie or not about having killed the bandits. Just lie to him. Dialogue “(Lie) It’s all over with them”. When Ginger asks you to go back to Neuhof to make sure people aren’t angry at him, feel free to ignore his request, he will give up the info either way and it doesn’t matter.

This is a defining moment in the story! If you want the “Merciful” trophy/achievement for not killing anybody you must lie to Ginger and tell him you already killed the Bandits! This is the easiest / quickest option. If you want to kill them, check the screenshot from the last optional step for their location.

Go and tell Captain Bernard what you found out from Ginger

Head back to Captain Bernard in Neuhof and tell him all you have found.
