It says April 16 1913 instead of June 16 1913.
PowerPyx says
What platform / patch are you on? Was April 16 for us. Wondering if it’s a difference between platforms/patches.
Rahim says
The story talked about in the newspaper was dated in April. But the name of the collectable is June.

It is Techland who messed up. They made this mistake in Patch 1.3, back in October 2025. They changed the newspaper date from April 16, 1913, to June 16. But only in text!! The picture is still showing the actual date: April 16.
Rais Kenni says
Also in the same patch they fixed a mistake in the 2015 newspaper from Pembroke: there, Baron was called Baron Fischer (which strange, since he is either Baron or Marius Fischer), and they made his first name consistent there. But why did they add a new mistake? Who knows!
They dropped two major patches since then, and the mistake is still present in the game. They are planning to drop Patch 1.6 on March 26, 2026, featuring the permadeath mode, so let’s see if they fix the mistake there. I doubt it, though.

Patch 1.6 (Restored Land Edition) is out.
The April 16, 1913 newspaper still features the wrong “June 16, 1913” date in the title only; not in the picture, not in the description. So they didn’t fix it.
I stumbled upon it by chance on my second attempt to beat the game in Restored Land mode on Brutal difficulty with the One Life option (R.I.P. March 27–28).
“Baron Fischer” in the picture of the June 22, 2015 newspaper wasn’t fixed too. It seems they made that newspaperin early stages of development, and Baron Fischer was the first name change of Baron Krolock from the cancelled New Frontier DLC. Then, it seems, they changedit to Marius Fischer, with the Baron being just a moniker of sorts.

I was just trying to make sense of all the lore from these notes in the game. And I finally figured out why, in Patch 1.3 (October 2025), they changed the date from April 16 to June 16, 1913!
The thing is, Dr. Peter Paulaner worked at the mental asylum for three months under Heinrich Fischer: from March 1 to May 15, 1913 (the last entry in the third diary).
• During the first two months, out of immense respect for his supervisor, he came to the conclusion that the man was insane, having witnessed all the horrors of his unethical methods for “unlocking hidden power” from the mentally ill’s minds in practice.
• On April 28, he wrote that Heinrich Fischer “watches me closely now, as though he knows my every thought”.
• In May, Paulaner began to uncover the Fischers’ secret: on May 5, he found Eleanor Fischer’s medical chart; on May 12, he found a newspaper clipping from October 31, 1693 (by the way, even in the current Patch 1.6, the incorrect year 1893 is mentioned), which recounts Eleanor’s burning at the stake in a cage for witchcraft and reveals her final words about her heirs, who will continue her work and bring darkness upon this world — a revelation that clearly influenced Heinrich’s motivation (to fulfill Eleanor’s prophecy), and on May 15, when Heinrich is already fully suspicious of him, Paulaner intends to retrieve something hidden behind the false wall, from the safe with the 1693 code (likely the dagger used to stab Eleanor before her burning or something else?).
You have to admit, the newspaper clipping from April 16, 1913, looks strange against this backdrop. A newspaper clipping that names the person who took hidden documents from the asylum, shedding light on the Fischers’ dark past.
But the problem remains! The problem is that the developers only changed the newspaper’s name!!! The text (description) and the image (!!!) still show the old date, April 16, which clearly doesn’t match the narrative in Paulaner’s diaries. Like look: a guy dug up documents about the Fischer family’s occult origins, snitched on his employer, it was published, the source of the documents was named, and Heinrich Fischer (a smart guy) supposedly didn’t start suspecting anything until May 15??? HAHAHAHAHAH! No.
TLDR. Dr. Peter Paulaner’s diaries (kept from March to May 1913) describe his terror at Heinrich Fischer’s unethical practices at St. Valentine Asylum. By May, he begins to dig hard under his employer, whom he once admired, and from May 5 to 15, he first learns about Eleanor Fischer, her burning, and the evil prophecy, and then steals documents from the asylum and gets them published. Furthermore, Heinrich Fischer begins to suspect something as early as April 28, which would have been impossible if the truth about his family had come to light on April 16, 1913. So the change makes sense, but I’d like to ask Techland to also correct the newspaper description and the image (it still shows April 16 instead of June 16).
