COD Black Ops 4 Zombies: IX Pack a Punch Guide

October 11, 2018 by PowerPyx 9 Comments

This guide shows how to unlock the Pack a Punch Machine (PaP) on IX in Call of Duty Black Ops 4 Zombies. The Pack-a-Punch machine lets you upgrade your weapons for more damage. You must kill 4 champions in IX and then put their heads on spikes in the Temple room.

In order to make the champions spawn you must interact with 4 gongs around the map. Then one of the four bosses spawns randomly. Kill them, pick up the head, repeat for the remaining champs. We’ll go through them step by step below. The gongs / champs are all in the rooms where the perk statues are!

All of these areas are accessible from the beginning. You don’t need to activate anything else, just buy the doors leading to the areas. You can do these in any order you like but the recommended order is fastest. In the top left corner of your screen it always shows what area you are in, we’ll use these to show the path.

Video Walkthrough

This video walkthrough shows the entire path in one take from the starting point to all 4 champs and to the Pack-a-Punch room! Refer to the video if you get stuck at any point.

Champ #1 (Ra Altar Room)

The first champ is in Ra Altar Room.

Path: ARENA > RA TOWER: ENTRANCE > RA ALTAR ROOM.

From the starting area, go through the first door on the right of the arena. Then go upstairs (immediately on the right side when you enter the Ra Tower).

Champ #2 (Danua Altar Room)

The second champ is in Danu Altar Room.

Path: RA ALTAR ROOM > DANU ALTAR ROOM.

This is the next room after Ra Altar room. You open the path leading over the bridge and then find another perk statue with a gong nearby.

Champ #3 (Odin Altar Room)

The third champ is in Odin Altar Room.

Path: DANU ALTAR ROOM > DANU TOWER: ENTRANCE > DANU TOWER: ARBORETUM > DANU-RA TEMPLE ENTRANCE > THE COLLAPSED TUNNEL > FALLEN HERO > THE PIT > ODIN TUNNEL > ODIN TOWER: CAULDRON > ODIN TOWER: ENTRANCE > ODIN ALTAR ROOM.

This one is on the other end of the map. From the last altar room, go downstairs and then all the way through the underground tomb. It’s a very confusing layout and hard to explain in words, refer to the video walkthrough at 1:56.

Always stick to the left side of the path and you should be good. Remember you can see the area names in top left corner of the screen and compare to the path listed above. If you always stick to the left you should find it easily. The best orientation point is the FALLEN HERO statue along the way, which is a big white statue of a man, but it’s broken. If you’re coming from The Collapsed Tunnel, then always stick to the left until you see Odin’s shield (wooden shields) hanging on a wall with stairs leading up to the Odin Tower.

Champ #4 (Zeus Altar Room)

The fourth champ is in Zeus Altar Room.

Path: ODIN ALTAR ROOM > DRAW BRIDGE > ZEUS ALTAR ROOM

This is next to the Odin Altar Room. Open the bridge passage and you just need to walk a few meters / yards over the bridge to get there.

Pack a Punch Location

Now that you have all 4 heads it’s time to go to the Temple room and put the 4 champion heads on the spikes. This unlocks the Pack-a-Punch machine.

Path: ZEUS ALTAR ROOM > ZEUS TOWER: ENTRANCE > ZEUS TOWER: BATH HOUSE > ODIN-ZEUS TEMPLE ENTRANCE > THE CRYPTS > FLOODED CRYPT > TEMPLE.

From the last champion room, head downstairs and go back down into the underground tomb. See the path described above or refer to the video at 4:22.
You’ll want to look out for a big circular room with a big pillar in the middle of it. There are 4 spikes in front of the pillar. Put the heads on them that you got from slaying the 4 champions. Then wait a few seconds and the pillar transforms into the Pack-a-Punch machine. Punching your weapons costs 5000 points. Re-packing them costs 2500 and adds an elemental effect, but does not give you any ammo.

And that’s all there is to getting the Pack a Punch on IX. Enjoy your upgraded weapons.

You can make a custom game and put 50,000 starting points in the settings. But you can’t earn trophies / achievements in custom game.

The shotgun in the wall by ra tower, when you pack a punch that weapon it convert to a sort of granade launcher that kills everyone in a large ratio

No they are modifiers, green is acid for example, red for fire, etc. Different modifiers do different damage to different zombies you will need to switch modifiers in later levels.

What does pack-a-punching a gun multiple times do in black ops 4

It changes the colour which changes the modifier and the modifier changes the amount of damage you do to different zombies.

Can anyone explain to me the bone chilling chant while the pack a punch machine is going from blue to red sounding incredibly demonic..?
