Final Fantasy 16 (XVI) Fastest Ability Points Farming Method

This guide shows the fastest way to farm Ability Points (AP) in Final Fantasy XVI. You need to fully upgrade all Eikon Abilities for the “Masterclass” trophy. It costs 118,400 Ability Points total to buy all ability upgrades.

Even after the 2nd playthrough in New Game+ you won’t have enough ability points to buy everything so some farming is required. You will probably need another ~30,000 AP after beating New Game+.

Step 1: Get The Wages of Warcraft II Accessory for +40% Ability Points

In New Game+, buy 2x “The Wages of Warcraft” Accessory from Charon’s shop in The Hideaway. Combine both of them at the Blacksmith to craft the improved “The Wages of Warcraft II”. Equip this to get +40% Ability Points.

This is only available after reaching Main Quest #37: After the Storm in New Game+ (2nd playthrough).

Step 2: Farm Hyenas in Kritten Hollow for 1,120 AP every 90 Seconds

Reach the end of the story in New Game+. In the very last area of Waloed you can farm a group of Hyenas that give 1,120 AP every time.

1. Fast travel to “Ravenwit Walls” obelisk in Waloed. It’s in the last area of the game.
2. From there head to the east corner of the area called “Kritten Hollow” on the map. There are 5 Hyenas close together.
   
3. Use one Zanetsuken Level 5 to instantly defeat all Hyenas in one hit. It’s the ability from Odin’s skill tree that activates by holding . You can quickly charge it by casting Odin’s “Dancing Steel” ability and hitting the Hyenas a few times with Odin’s Blade (press with Odin Eikon equipped to switch to the blade).
4. The 5 Hyenas give 1,120 AP each time with the +40% AP ring equipped. Fast travel back to the “Ravenwit Walls” obelisk. This immediately respawns all Hyenas. Call your mount and ride back to the Hyenas, defeat them again and repeat.

It takes around 90 seconds per run including travel times which works out to 740AP per minute. You will likely need to farm this for about 30 minutes to afford the last remaining abilities. Upon buying the last ability upgrade you earn the Masterclass trophy.
