God of War (2018): All Axe Pommels

This page contains all Axe Pommels in God of War (2018, PS4) including a showcase with images. Axe Pommels are an attachment to your primary weapon, the Leviathan Axe, and increase certain stats. More than that, they also add unique passive perks that can change the flow of combat. Each pommel visually changes the design of your axe. Knowing what pommels are in the game and what abilities they unlock can help you prepare and strategize for difficult encounters.

Axe Pommels are obtained from quests, from certain chests, bosses, and mostly through crafting. Around 70% of them are from crafting. All the epic ones (the best in the game) are from completion-based tasks later in the game. This list is in order of rarity.

Common Axe Pommels:

• Wooden Grip (Level 1 – 1 Strength): Family Heirloom, Crude wooden axe grip.
  
• Weighted War Handle (Level 1 – 4 Strength, 3 Luck): Executioner’s Strength, High Perk activation chance to grant a Gift of STRENGTH on any successful Executioner’s Cleave.
  
• Curved Runic Handle (Level 1 – 2 Strength, 6 Runic): Marksman’s Runic, Low Perk activation chance to grant a Blessing of RUNIC on any successful precision throw.
  
• Weighted Recovery Handle (Level 1 – 4 Strength, 2 Cooldown): Executioner’s Cooldown, High Perk activation chance to grant a Blessing of COOLDOWN on any successful Executioner’s Cleave.
  
• Curved Recovery Handle (Level 1 – 2 Strength, 4 Cooldown): Marksman’s Cooldown, High Perk activation chance to grant a Blessing of COOLDOWN on any successful precision throw.
  
• Versatile Warrior’s Handle (Level 1 – 2 Strength, 2 Defence, 2 Luck): Adept Warrior, Increases STRENGTH, DEFENCE, and LUCK. Upgrade to increase additional stats.
  
• Weighted Runic Handle (Level 2 – 4 Strength, 4 Runic, 2 Cooldown): Executioner’s Runic, High Perk activation chance to grant a Blessing of RUNIC on any successful Executioner’s Cleave.
  
• Curved War Handle (Level 2 – 8 Strength): Marksman’s Strength, High Perk activation chance to grant a Gift of STRENGTH on any successful precision throw.
  
• Curved Grip of Fury (Level 2 – 4 Strength, 6 Vitality): Marksman’s Rage Burst, Low Perk activation chance to grant a Rage Burst on any successful precision throw.
  

Rare Axe Pommels:

• Light War Handle (Level 3 – 4 Strength, 6 Runic, 6 Luck): Rising Strength, High Perk activation chance to grant a Gift of STRENGTH after launching an enemy into the air.
  
• Light Grip of Protection (Level 3 – 4 Strength, 4 Defence, 6 Vitality): Rising Protective Barrier, High Perk activation chance to grant Protective Barrier, preventing damage from enemy attacks, after launching an enemy into the air.
  
• Deadly Grip of Fury (Level 3 – 10 Strength): Slayer’s Rage Burst, Successful axe kills grant a Rage Burst.
  
• Deadly Grip of Vitality (Level 3 – 4 Strength, 10 Vitality): Slayer’s Health Burst, Successful axe kills grant a Health Burst.
  
• Weighted Grip of Restoration (Level 3 – 6 Strength, 8 Vitality, 6 Luck): Executioner’s Health Burst, High Perk activation chance to grant a Health Burst on any successful Executioner’s Cleave.
  
• Curved Grip of Restoration (Level 3 – 8 Strength, 10 Luck): Marksman’s Health Burst, High Perk activation chance to grant a Health Burst on any successful precision throw.
  
• Ymir’s Breath (Level 3 – 4 Strength, 10 Runic, 3 Luck): Ymir’s Vengeance, Low Perk activation chance to create a FROST explosion on any successful axe hit.
  
• Grip of Völunder (Level 3 – 6 Strength, 6 Defence): Warrior’s Protective Barrier, Very low Perk activation chance to grant Protective Barrier, preventing damage from enemy attacks, on any successful axe hit.
  

Legendary Axe Pommels:

• Grip of Tanngiost (Level 2 – 6 Strength, 6 Runic, 6 Luck): Fist of Thor, Low Perk activation chance to strike with an explosion of lightning that inflicts SHOCK damage to all nearby enemies on any successful axe hit.
  
• Forbidden Grip of the Ages (Level 3 – 8 Strength, 6 Runic, 6 Defence, 6 Vitality, 6 Luck, 6 Cooldown): Word of Ages, An ancient relic that increases all of Kratos’s Stats. Adds a concussive wave to the end of the combo.
  
• Hraezla Farmadr’s Grip (Level 3 – 2 Strength, 6 Vitality, 13 Luck): Warrior’s Health Burst, Low Perk activation chance to grant a Health Burst on any successful axe hit.
  
• Surtr’s Grip of Flame (Level 4 – 8 Strength, 13 Runic): Wrath of Flame, Low Perk activation chance to grant Wrath of Flame on any successful hit. Wrath of Flame greatly increasess STRENGTH, restores a small amount of Health, and fires a wave of energy on normal attacks.
  
• Grip of the Maze (Level 6 – 12 Strength, 8 Vitality, 18 Luck): Cleansing Light, Very high Perk activation chance to restore some protection against the Cursed Mist of Niflheim on any successful kill. Passively grants resistance to the Cursed Mist.
  

Epic Axe Pommels:

• Retribution (Level 6 – 12 Strength, 10 Luck, 15 Cooldown): Queen’s Wrath, axe throw and recall become incredibly powerful. Low Perk activation chance to strike with a massively damaging explosion on any successful hit.
  
• Wing of the Fallen (Level 6 – 16 Strength, 6 Cooldown): Power of the Valkyrie, Moderate Perk activation chance on any successful kill to grant Power of the Valkyrie, increasing RUNIC and STRENGTH. (Stacks up to 3 times max.)
  
• Valkyrie’s Might (Level 6 – 10 Strength, 10 Runic, 16 Luck): Strike of the Valkyrie, Moderate Perk activation chance on any successful Executioner’s Cleave to grant Strike to the Valkyrie, causing massive explosion on the next attack. Low Perk activation chance to cause an explosion on any successful hit.
  
• Blightbringer (Level 6 – 12 Strength, 8 Runic, 15 Defence): Curse of the Mist, Low Perk activation chance to strike with an explosive curse that inflicts WEAKNESS to enemies on any successful hit.
  
• Mistbourne (Level 6 – 12 Strength, 6 Defence, 15 Vitality): Healing Mist, Low Perk activation chance to grant Healing Mist on any successful hit. Healing Mist regenerates Health and increases RUNIC.
