Ivaldi’s Workshop is the 1st Favour (Side Quest) in the Realm of Niflheim in God of War 2018. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of Ivaldi’s Workshop Favor.
- Quest Giver: Sindri (in Niflheim Realm)
- Requirement: Unlocked Niflheim Realm (found 4 Niflheim Language Ciphers from Purple Chests)
- Reward: 1075 XP & next Favour “Ivaldi’s Protection“
This favour is an introduction to what Niflheim has to offer and requires you to unlock its secret center chamber.
Starting Location
The favour starts in the Realm of Niflheim at Sindri’s Shop. You can’t miss it – when you enter Niflheim, Sindri’s shop will be straight ahead. In order to unlock this realm you must open purple chests (the ones with a floating white “face” lock) and retrieve 4 Niflheim Language Ciphers from them. Talk to Sindri to start the favour.
Retrieve 500 Mist Echoes
Sindri wants you to get 500 Mist Echoes. They are a type of currency exclusive to the Niflheim Realm. The entire map is basically just a randomized labyrinth (random traps and enemy spawns). The Mist Echoes are obtained by opening chests in the Mist Labyrinth. These respawn infinitely when leaving the mist. However, if you die inside the Mist it will revert your progress to before entering the mist. It’s a high-level area meant for after the story. At the top of the screen is a red timer, indicating how much time you have left. If it depletes you die. The longer you survive, the more echoes you receive per chest opened. You can also sell materials dropped by monsters in the mist (at Sindri’s shop they give 1,000 – 2,500 echoes per material).
Luckily, getting 500 Echoes is super quick and only takes 3-4 chests, that’s around 2 minutes of work. Below is a picture of a chest in the mist (there are also red chests and small wooden boxes):
Craft the Entry Stone
After you gathered 500 Echoes, backtrack to Sindri’s Shop and exit the Mist alive. You must now craft the “Entry Stone” at the shop.
Open Shop > Buy > Resources > Niflheim Entry Stone > hold 
to buy.
Enter the centre chamber
Now head back into the mist. At the start of it, where the first group of enemies spawn, is a pedestal. You can use the Entry Stone on it to open the Centre Chamber.
This finishes the Ivaldi’s Workshop favour in God of War and immediately triggers the next favour “Ivaldi’s Protection“.
