God of War – Second Hand Soul Favour Walkthrough

Second Hand Soul is the 1st Favor (Side Quest) for Brok in God of War 2018. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of Brok’s Second Hand Soul Favour.

• Quest Giver: Brok (at one of his shops)
• Requirement: Must have completed The Light of Alfheim up to when you return to Midgard.
• Reward: Rare Pommel and 3290 XP
• Availability: After returning from story quest in Alfheim Realm (the favour is still available after the story)

Starting Location

Once you get back to Midgard from Alfheim you will be able to start this quest at any of Brok’s shops. Speak to him and accept this quest. Here is the location of Brok’s Shop in Midgard:

Enter the Völunder Mines

Once the quest has been accepted head into your Goals tab of your start menu and move over to the favours tab and track the favour to get the waypoint to show on your compass. Follow the compass into the Völunder Chasm. Dock your boat and head down the path and through the crevasse in the wall. Read the lore and gather the chest on the other side and continue down the path until you get to Brok. Use the pedestal to open the door next to Brok.

Find the dwarf with a green ring

Continue through the caves until you get to the cutscene. Drop into the valley below and take out the horde of enemies. Head through the gate and head to the left in the next room and follow that path ahead until you get to the cutscene with the Soul Eater again.

Defeat the Soul Eater

You will have to double back and destroy 3 Rune Seals to open the door to the next area. Here are the three seals:

In the room where you fought the horde of enemies following the Soul Eater cutscene:

In the room where the cutscene triggered (room with a chest in it):

The third relic is actually hidden and you will need to throw your axe at a bomb suspended in the air in the Southeast corner of the area:

Once you have destroyed all 3 relics, head through the rune door on the East side of the room. Once through the door you will go down a hallway and into an arena like room to fight the Soul Eater. This boss is relatively easy to dispatch. You will want to fight him at long range by throwing your axe at his opening when he fires fireballs at you. If you are having issues you can take the cheap route and hide behind a pillar like so:

He will not be able to hit you but you will be able to throw your axe at him still. Once he is defeated it will trigger the next step.

Retrieve the severed hand

Simply walk up to the loot of the Soul Eater and pick up the Alchemist’s Ring.

Return to Brok

Finish looting the area. Once looted head to the North side of the room and send your son up to throw you down the chain to climb. Head through the corridor and down the rope into a small fight. Take out the enemies and head West. Continue down the path and out of the tunnels to Brok’s camp. Speak to him to finish this quest.

This completes the Second Hand Soul quest in God of War.
