Introduction

Welcome to the Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores Trophy Guide! Aloy is back, heading to the southern Burning Shores region after learning of a looming Far Zenith threat. To start the DLC you must have finished the story in the main game. If you started a New Game+ playthrough you must finish the story again. You must also have purchased the DLC and downloaded the most recent patch that makes it playable. Then, the title screen will show the Burning Shores logo. Upon loading your finished story save, you will get a message that the Burning Shores DLC has been installed and you get a new main quest called “To the Burning Shores”. To achieve 100%, you’ll have to do everything the DLC has to offer. This means every main story and side quest as well as scanning the 4 new machines, finding all collectibles and unlocking all 18 new Skills.

Step 1: Complete the Main Story, Scan all 4 New Machines

For your first Step, play through the 5 main story quests. These are relatively quick to complete and will earn you the Specter Gauntlet necessary for :silver: Specter Gauntlet Upgraded & :bronze: Killed Machines While Gliding. As you play through each main story quest, you can check :bronze: All New Machines Scanned for the main story quests they appear in. You will meet all new machines during story quests.

Step 2: Side Quests, Cauldron THETA and Reaching Level 60

Now focus on completing the side quests. You can refer to :gold: All Quests Completed for a list of all side quests and their starting location. During this Step, complete the Cauldron THETA, where you will most likely get closer to killing 50 Stingspawns and reaching level 60.

Step 3: Collectibles, Miscellaneous Trophies, All Skills

As for your final step, focus on grabbing all collectibles and unlocking the miscellaneous trophies. Check the relevant trophy descriptions for all collectible locations and how to unlock all miscellaneous trophies. Once you’ve unlocked every other trophy, you should have enough Skill Points to unlock all 18 new Skills.

Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores Trophy Guide
Horizon Forbidden West: The Burning Shores DLC features 18 new Skills (12 Skills and 6 Valor Surges), all listed at the bottom of each respective tree. To unlock this trophy, you must buy them all for a total of 72 Skill Points. If for whatever reason, you’re still missing some Skill Points to buy the remaining skills, make a manual back-up save and then reset all skill trees. Now use some of the points you received from the reset to acquire the DLC skills and then reload the manual save to get all skills back.

Reached Level 60
Reached player level 60.
Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores Trophy Guide
Provided you’ve finished Forbidden West’s main story, you’ll be level 50 when you start the DLC, regardless of whether you completed NG+ or not. In the DLC, you’ll be able to reach level 56 by the end of the main story. The remaining levels can be farmed by completing side content, with a special focus on side missions, all of which are needed anyway for :gold: All Quests Completed. No need to grind for this trophy as most side content gives you plenty of XP to reach level 60 before you even reach 100% in the DLC.
Used Brimshine
Used Brimshine to purchase 1 outfit and 1 weapon.
Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores Trophy Guide
Brimshine is a new and quite rare lootable yellow crystal found all over the Burning Shores, needed to buy legendary weapons and outfits. To be able to purchase one outfit and one weapon with Brimshine, you need a total of 16, 8 for an outfit, 8 for a weapon. Once you have 16 Brimshine, head over to the Hunter and the Stitcher at Fleet’s End to purchase a legendary weapon and outfit that require Brimshine. The fastest and easiest way to gather 16 Brimshine is by finding all 7 Delver Trinkets. Once you’ve found them all, you can dig up the final treasure which earns you 15 Brimshine. At this point, you only need one more, which you might even have already. Check Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores – All Delver Trinket Locations.
Equipped an Elite Coil or Weave
Equipped an elite coil on a weapon or an elite weave on an outfit.
Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores Trophy Guide
Elite Coils and Weaves are new types of loot that can be respectively equipped on your weapons and outfits to increase Aloy’s stats. You can simply buy these from merchants and sometimes they are dropped by enemies. After buying or finding an Elite Coil press :touchpad: > Inventory and choose any outfit. Now press :square: to edit your Weaves and :x: to edit a slot. Lastly, equip the Elite Weave you’ve just picked up (orange color) to unlock this trophy.
Specter Gauntlet Upgraded
Fully upgraded the Specter Gauntlet.
Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores Trophy Guide
The Specter Gauntlet is a new weapon automatically obtained during Main Quest #3: The Stars in Their Eyes. To find and craft its one and only upgrade you need to complete side quest “In His Wake”, which you can start by talking to Otosu at Fleet’s End.

Towards the end of the side quest, you’ll have to kill an enemy wielding a railgun standing on a ledge. Once you’ve killed him, you’ll have to loot his body to pick up the upgrade as part of the side quest, making it unmissable. Once you’ve looted the railgun upgrade, return to Fleet’s End and interact with the workbench to slot the upgrade and unlock this trophy.

Cauldron THETA Core Overridden
Reached the Core of Cauldron THETA and accessed its information.
Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores Trophy Guide
Cauldron THETA can be found in the eastern side of the map (see map location screenshot below). This Cauldron’s layout is very similar to the ones in the base game, with the slight difference that from time to time you’ll have to shoot chillwater canisters from overhead drones to drop them into solid lava and create geysers for your Shieldwing. This is the only way to get to otherwise unreachable ledges. At the end of the Cauldron, simply defeat the Apex Bilegut to access the core that gives you the ability to override said machine and unlock this trophy.

All New Machines Scanned
Encountered and Focus scanned every new machine in the Burning Shores.
Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores Trophy Guide
Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores DLC features 4 new machines: the Bilegut, the Stingspawn, the Waterwing and the Horus. Each new machine can be encountered during main story quests and are all unmissable, specifically during:

  1. To the Burning Shores (Bilegut and Stingspawn)
  2. For His Amusement (Waterwing)
  3. His Final Act (Horus)

Simply scan them the first time you encounter them and this will immediately add them to the Machine Catalogue, allowing you to learn their elemental weaknesses. If Horus is the last machine you scan, you will unlock this trophy as you fight against it during His Final Act main story quest.

If you somehow forgot to scan these machines during the story, below you can find map screenshot locations for all of them. Please note that the Horus cannot be found in the wild after completing the story, but scanning it is required as part of the His Final Act main quest. As such, you won’t miss it.

Used Grapple Strike on Machines
Used Grapple Strike on 5 unique machines.
Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores Trophy Guide
First, you must unlock the Machine Grapple Strike skill from the Hunter tree (costs 2 Skill Points). To make this even easier, we suggest unlocking the Knockdown Shot skill from the Hunter Tree if you haven’t done so yet. Then, in your Weapon Wheel, equip any Hunter’s Bow, choose the Knockdown Shot skill and start a fight with a relatively weak machine such as a Grazer, Charger or Lancehorn. Now hold :l2: and press :r1: to land a Knockdown Shot that will immediately knock down the machine. When the machine is in a temporary knockdown state, a grapple prompt will appear on their body, allowing you to perform a Grapple Strike. To land the strike, successfully complete the :r1: QTE. Just remember that you need your stamina to recharge a little bit before landing another Knockdown Shot. Do this 4 more times on another 4 unique machines to unlock this trophy. This is best done in the areas surrounding Chainscrape (main game’s map) where you can find different kinds of very weak machines.
Killed Machines While Gliding
Killed 5 machines with the Specter Gauntlet while gliding.
Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores Trophy Guide
To unlock this trophy, you first need to play through and complete Main Quest #3: The Stars In Their Eyes.

Once you’ve unlocked the Specter Gauntlet, you must buy the Glide Targeting skill (costs 2 Skill Points) from the Hunter tree to be able to use it while gliding. Then, equip it from your Inventory menu. Then, you need to find a location with weak enough machines to go down relatively quickly. A great spot where you can unlock this trophy is the Charger Mount Site south of Chainscrape (main game’s map), a very small and weak machine that will stand no chance against your Specter Gauntlet. Get to the mount site, select the Specter Gauntlet from your Weapon Wheel and then mount your Waterwing. Get some altitude, then hold and release :square: to jump off the Waterwing. Now activate your Shieldwing with :square: and aim at one of the Chargers below to shoot them down with your Specter Gauntlet. Rinse and repeat until you’ve killed them all. If you need to, there’s even a second Charger Mount Site a bit more to the south. Once you’ve killed 5 machines, you’ll unlock this trophy.

Note: for some players the trophy progress counter gets stuck, in this case try killing 5 machines in one single glide, and try reinstalling the game.

Killed Bileguts and Stingspawn
Killed 5 Bileguts and 50 Stingspawn.
Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores Trophy Guide
Bileguts and Stingspawns are two machine types uniquely found in the Burning Shores regions. You will first encounter these machines halfway through main quest To the Burning Shores. By the end of the story, you will most likely have killed around 3 Bileguts and 30 Stingspawns. You can farm the rest at Bileguts sites, one of which is shown in the map screenshot below. Here, not only will you find Bileguts, but also Stingspawn eggs. Keep heading from one Bilegut site to the next until you’ve got the required amount to unlock the trophy and advance the time at campfires if you need to reload the areas. Alternatively, you will find lots of Stingspawns inside the Cauldron THETA, which is required for :bronze: Cauldron THETA Core Overridden anyway.

Just an FYI, you can just manual save and reset skills points then allocate the minimum to unlock all new skills and then reload manual save. This might helpful if you really want to use new skill points in one category.

Killed 5 machines while gliding: there is a good spot on the DLC map near a Bilegut spawn with a campfire on top of a skyscraper. Simply glide down and kill 5 of the Stingspawn in the process, repeat until trophy unlocks.

I must have killed 50 Stingspawn at this location gliding from the campfire on the skyscraper. For some reason, my kill count for the “Killed 5 machines while gliding” trophy is stuck at 3 out of 5. Doesn’t matter how many machines I kill while gliding, it stays at 3 out of 5. Tried different locations, different machines, no change. Uninstalled and reinstalled, same. Let Guerilla Games know, but I’m sure it will be a while for them to look into it. It’s my last trophy for 100%…

There is an exploit in the Arena that I used in the main game. I did not want to play Machine Strike which meant I was short of skill points (11 in total for Machine Strike) So go to the Arena, speak to Kalla and start the Amature Challenge, I used bombs to wipe out the machines quickly, after the crowd cheering finishes, there is a choice of Retry or Continue, choose Retry, wait for the start animation to finish, press the option button, choose Quit, when the game resets, choose Continue, you will notice that you now have 1 Skill Point, speak to Kalla and start the process again. Each time you do this you will get 1 Skill Point, you do not have to save between each try. I used the exploit again in Burning Shores because of the problem with Aerial Captures, which I’m happy to say has now been fixed. Happy Plays

You need to get the attention of the Storm bird hiding in the clouds. That’ll bring it down to the island where you can eff it up.

Does the DLC grant champion medals in NG+? Is it worth doing to unlock everything for the NG+ trophy list?

on PC the all skills trophy does not work for me by respecing your skills, I was 21 skill points short and had to do an arena challenge again and again to get my points.
