Introduction

Welcome to the Shadow Warrior 3 Trophy Guide! Lo Wang returns in his third instalment of yokai-slaying fun. Shadow Warrior 3 draws inspiration from the modern Doom games, with the gameplay having a heavy focus on traversal sections, arena-style combat and rewarding you with resources for killing enemies creatively. The game is relatively short and can be completed in about 6-10 hours, completing everything needed for platinum in one playthrough.

Shadow Warrior 3 is an extremely linear game, and as of update 1.09 the game has Chapter Select, which makes nothing missable. If however you play the game without updates, there will be no Chapter Select or New Game+, so be aware of this. The game will have collectibles in the form of upgrades, combat challenges to complete that also reward upgrades, as well as several miscellaneous trophies you will have to work towards. If anything is missed during your playthrough, you can simply load any chapter and all upgrades will carry over.

Glitch Note: 2 Challenges – namely Mr. Doctor and Run & Gun – are known to frequently break and stop tracking. This can be fixed by simply quitting out to the main menu and continuing from there. Because of this it is recommended to regularly check the progress of these 2 challenges, and quit out at the start of combat arenas if they stop tracking.

There are several reports of Shadow Warrior 3 crashing and corrupting saves, so it is highly recommended that you back up your save regularly.

Step 1: Complete the game, collect all upgrades, complete all challenges and miscellaneous trophies

Play through the game, making sure to collect all upgrades along the way and work towards combat challenges, which unlock during Chapter 2. Chapter Select was added with Patch 1.09, meaning that if you miss anything during a chapter then you can come back and clean it up later, however it is still recommended to try and get what you can to save yourself from having to do full chapter playthroughs later. Make sure to also work towards all miscellaneous trophies, as some of these won’t actively be done while working on challenges.

Specifically, you will want to make sure you are actively using Finishers every chance you get. You will need to perform 100 Finishers in one playthrough, which is a lot to perform without actively going for it. You will need to perform finishers on larger enemies for a decent portion of the game while getting 100 kills with Gore Tools and obtaining each type of Gore Tool, but otherwise you should try and use finishers on the smaller enemies that only take one finisher bar until this is completed. Once again however, these can be cleaned up with Chapter Select.

While working towards challenges or miscellaneous trophies, you can farm these during combat arenas if you desire as dying will retain your progress. Restarting checkpoint however will wipe the progress you made during that combat arena, so always make sure to die if you want to farm anything in a particular area. This can be useful if you find an environmental hazard in a prime location or just want to knock out certain challenges or trophies early on.

Below is a list of everything you will want to do while playing:

  • Collect all Upgrades
  • Complete all Challenges
  • Obtain all Gore Tools
  • Perform 100 Finishers
  • Put 50 enemies on spikes
  • Explode 50 explodeables
  • Kill 100 enemies with Gore Tools
  • Set 25 enemies on fire
  • Electrocute 50 enemies
  • Freeze 75 enemies
  • Kill 150 enemies with environmental hazards

Step 2: Clean Up via Chapter Select

As of Patch 1.09, Chapter Select is available in the game, meaning that if you happen to miss any of the collectible upgrades, fail to complete any of the challenges or miscellaneous trophies, now is your chance to clean them up via Chapter Select.

Complete the sixth chapter to earn this. This chapter will introduce you to a new enemy type, Hattori. You will also face your first proper boss, Ancient Cock.

The first phase of this boss fight is very easy, as Ancient Cock will only use two attacks: a laser beam which you can simply strafe to avoid, and a charge attack which you can dash sideways to avoid. Don’t stop shooting and the phase will be over very quickly.

For the second phase the Ancient Cock will split in two and attack you with both halves, with the inclusion of missile attacks, stomp attacks, and the laser can now sweep across the floor. While there’s an increase of attacks to avoid here, you can still handle it all by strafing around both targets, dashing to avoid incoming attacks, and focusing all your ammo on the top half.

For the third phase you will need to wait for all the platform to rise into the air, at which point you can shoot a vine near the entrance of the arena to reveal a grapple point. Grapple up and traverse across the platforms while avoiding the lasers, which will break the platforms. Once you reach the Ancient Cock, grapple onto it to finish the fight.

Shadow Warrior 3 Trophy Guide & Roadmap
Automatic story-related trophy, cannot be missed.

Complete the twelfth chapter to earn this. At the end of the chapter you will fight the final boss, Guardian of the Heart.

In order to hurt the boss, you will need to attack the eyeballs that appear either on the tentacles or the body mass. For the first phase, it will slam and swipe with the tentacles, as well as do a body slam attack. Dash out of the way of the slams and jump over the swipe attacks.

In the second phase, the boss will attach itself to the roof. Focus on attacking the eyeballs at the top to make it fall down quickly.

In the third phase, weak spots will appear on the tentacles alongside some grapple points, while tentacles will constantly sweep around below. Make sure to stay on the grapple points and attack the weak spots. The Basilisk is very good for this phase.

The fourth phase is a combination of everything in phase one and two, with more aggression. A combination of The Outlaw and Sidekicks for fast fire rate, and The Basilisk for targeted shots on the larger weak spots, is best. When the body mass gets covered in eyes they will all drop health so this is your best time to heal if there are no health pickups available.

The fifth and final phase is a simple traversal section, complete the wallrunning and grapple points to finish the boss and complete the game.

Simply acquiring all of these is not enough, you must fully upgrade all weapons and character skills before the trophy will pop.

If any are missed, you can collect them through chapter select, which also shows how many of each upgrade type are available in each chapter.

2 Challenges – namely Mr. Doctor and Run & Gun – are known to frequently break and stop tracking. This can be fixed by simply quitting out to the main menu and continuing from there. Shadow Warrior 3 Trophy Guide & Roadmap Executioner
Perform Finisher 100 times
Shadow Warrior 3 Trophy Guide & Roadmap
Finishers are killing moves you can perform on enemies with :l1: + :r1: costing 1, 2 or 3 finisher bars, depending on the enemy. You can restore your finisher bars with finisher orbs, which are obtained by killing enemies. Performing 100 finishers may take some time to complete, so you will want to actively try and use your finisher bars every chance you get.

Work towards getting 100 Gore Weapon kills (Gore Master :gold: ) and obtaining all Gore Tool types (Show Me What You’re Made Of :bronze: ), but otherwise try and use your finishers on the basic enemies that only cost 1 finisher bar, so you can complete this sooner. I unlocked this during the second last combat arena in the game.

If you want to grind this, find yourself a combat arena with a hazard that can kill you instantly, as well as having full finisher bars at the start of the arena. Get your finishers and die to the hazard, then repeat. Progress will save if you die, but it will not save if you simply restart checkpoint.

Shadow Warrior 3 Trophy Guide & Roadmap Show Me What You’re Made Of
Obtain all Gore Tool types
Shadow Warrior 3 Trophy Guide & Roadmap
There are 10 Gore Tools within the game, obtained from each of the unique enemy types. Gore Tools can be obtained by performing a finisher ( :l1: +  :r1: ) on an enemy, costing 1, 2 or 3 finisher bars, depending on the enemy.

  • Brain Tonic (Shogai)
  • Brain Freeze (Kugutsu)
  • Equalizer (Oni Hanma)
  • Disco Grenade (Laser Shogun)
  • Penetrator (Mogura)
  • Seeking Eye (Seeking Shokera)
  • Swarm Launcher (Slinky Jakku)
  • Blade of Hattori (Hattori)
  • Hungry, Hungry Heart (Chef Oboru Guruma)
  • Double Trouble (Gassy Obariyon)
Shadow Warrior 3 Trophy Guide & Roadmap Samurai
Kill 100 enemies with the katana
Shadow Warrior 3 Trophy Guide & Roadmap
The katana is your basic melee attack, performed with :r1: . You will be utilising your katana a lot to get ammo drops so this should come naturally.
Shadow Warrior 3 Trophy Guide & Roadmap Acupuncture
Put 50 enemies on spikes
Shadow Warrior 3 Trophy Guide & Roadmap
Throughout the game you will find spikes in combat arenas. You can push enemies into these by using your Chi Blast with :r3: . You will need to actively go for these kills, as you likely won’t get these naturally and they’re not a requirement for any of the combat challenges.

If you want to grind this, the best location is during the second combat arena in Chapter 6: Egg Express. There will be spikes and plenty of small enemies for you to push into them. Once you run out of small enemies, let a big enemy kill so you can repeat until you get 50. Progress will save if you die, but it will not save if you simply restart checkpoint.

Shadow Warrior 3 Trophy Guide & Roadmap Cool Guys Don’t Look at Explosions
Explode 50 explodables
Shadow Warrior 3 Trophy Guide & Roadmap
All combat arenas will have a variety of explodables, including dynamite, fire barrels (red), ice barrels (blue) and lightning barrels (yellow). In order to do this you will need to make sure you shoot these explodables, Chi Blasting these into enemies does not seem to count. You will need to get plenty of kills with the elemental barrels for combat challenges, so as long as you make sure to kill enemies by shooting the barrels you should get this without too much effort. You can also shoot any remaining explodables after finishing a combat arena.

Shadow Warrior 3 Trophy Guide & Roadmap Gore Master
Kill 100 enemies with Gore Weapons
Shadow Warrior 3 Trophy Guide & Roadmap
Gore Weapons are the tools you acquire from using finishing on any yokai that require either 2 or 3 finisher bars. The Gore Tools from the yokai that only cost 1 finisher bar are unable to get kills, thus do not count towards this. Getting 100 kills with Gore Weapons should come fairly naturally, as long as you make sure to utilise them when you get the chance. The Blade of Hattori from the Hattori yokai is by far the best weapon to use for this, as it can rack up kills very quickly. Below is a list of Gore Weapons in order of their efficiency:

  • Blade of Hattori (Hattori)
  • Double Trouble (Gassy Obariyon)
  • Swarm Launcher (Slinky Jakku)
  • Penetrator (Mogura)
  • Equalizer (Oni Hanma)
  • Hungry, Hungry Heart (Chef Oboru Guruma)
  • Disco Grenade (Laser Shogun)
  • Seeking Eye (Seeking Shokera)
Shadow Warrior 3 Trophy Guide & Roadmap Don’t Come Closer
Kill 200 enemies
Shadow Warrior 3 Trophy Guide & Roadmap
Simply kill 200 enemies by any means. This will come naturally.
Shadow Warrior 3 Trophy Guide & Roadmap Set the World on Fire
Set 25 enemies on fire
Shadow Warrior 3 Trophy Guide & Roadmap
In order to set enemies on fire, you can either shoot a red fire barrel in their vicinity (will automatically kill smaller enemies, may not count as being set on fire), or by rapidly shooting with the fully upgraded The Outlaw (revolver). When fully upgraded, this gun will set enemies on fire when shot in quick succession.
Shadow Warrior 3 Trophy Guide & Roadmap Baddies Go ‘BZZZZZ’
Electrocute 50 enemies (without Motoko’s help)
Shadow Warrior 3 Trophy Guide & Roadmap
In order to electrocute enemies, you can either shoot a yellow lightning barrel in their vicinity, or by using the upgraded Sidekicks (machine guns). With two upgrades, these guns will shock enemies when shot. When fully upgraded these enemies will also leave shock mines on the ground when they die. Motoko will kill enemies with lightning during the final combat arena of Chapter 3: Motoko’s Thunderdome, however these kills do not count.
Shadow Warrior 3 Trophy Guide & Roadmap -273 Kelvin
Freeze 75 enemies
Shadow Warrior 3 Trophy Guide & Roadmap
In order to freeze enemies, you can either shoot a blue ice barrel in their vicinity, use the Brain Freeze Gore Tool from Kugutsu, or by using the fully upgraded Basilisk (rail gun). When fully upgraded, the Basilisk will freeze all nearby enemies when an enemy is shot.
Shadow Warrior 3 Trophy Guide & Roadmap It’s Dangerous Out There
Kill 150 enemies with environmental hazards
Shadow Warrior 3 Trophy Guide & Roadmap
Environmental hazards are every form killing that isn’t directly from your katana or a ranged weapon: spikes, explodables, falling and interactable hazards (typically requing a button to be shot). Environmental kills are a pillar of the combat system and it is highly likely you will get this naturally.
Shadow Warrior 3 Trophy Guide & Roadmap Caution! Watch Your Head

Mogura are the drilling yokai, introduced during Chapter 3. Perform a finisher on one ( :l1: +  :r1: , costs 2 finisher bars) to obtain the Penetrator Gore Tool. This is a large drill that can kill enemies quickly but is hard to control.

Shadow Warrior 3 Trophy Guide & Roadmap Eye See You!
Obtain the “Seeking Eye” Gore Tool from Seeking Shokera
Shadow Warrior 3 Trophy Guide & Roadmap
Seeking Shokera are the flying mage yokai, introduced during Chapter 4. Perform a finisher on one ( :l1: +  :r1: , costs 2 finisher bars) to obtain the Seeking Eye Gore Tool. This is an eye that will automatically attack any enemy you look at.

Shadow Warrior 3 Trophy Guide & Roadmap New Year Has Come Early
Obtain the “Swarm Launcher” Gore Tool from Slinky Jakku
Shadow Warrior 3 Trophy Guide & Roadmap
Slinky Jakku are the slinky yokai, introduced during Chapter 4. Perform a finisher on one ( :l1: +  :r1: , costs 2 finisher bars) to obtain the Swarm Laucnher Gore Tool. This is essentially a fireworks launcher, which will explode at the end of its use.

Obtain the “Hungry, Hungry Heart” Gore Tool from Chef Oboru Guruma
Shadow Warrior 3 Trophy Guide & Roadmap
Chef Oboru Guruma are the bomb-dropping yokai on wheels, introduced during Chapter 8. Perform a finisher on one ( :l1: +  :r1: , costs 2 finisher bars) to obtain the Hungry, Hungry Heart Gore Tool. This is a gravity grenade that sucks in all enemies, doing damage and leaving them vulnerable to your attacks.

Shadow Warrior 3 Trophy Guide & Roadmap Size Does Matter
Obtain the “Double Trouble” Gore Tool from Gassy Obariyon

Gassy Obariyon are the giant yokai with miniguns, introduced during Chapter 10. Perform a finisher on one ( :l1: +  :r1: , costs 3 finisher bars) to obtain the Double Trouble Gore Tool. These are a pair of miniguns that can wreak havoc on groups of enemies. These are very powerful but also very costly at 3 finisher bars.

Anyone figure out a workaround for the wall run challenge? Im halfway thru this game already and it’s not tracking. At this rate I’m gonna have to do another playthru just to get everything maxed out because of one stupid non-tracking challenge.

I figured it out. For this challenge, if it’s not tracking get to an arena with a wallrun area; do a wallrun kill and check that it’s actually tracking. If it’s not tracking; quit back to the main menu and continue. Keep doing this until you see that it’s tracking and stay in the same arena until you can claim the reward.

Thank you for the trophy guide. Hopefully they fix any trophy tracking problems I’ve seen people mention.
This game is available on PlayStation Now from 1st March 2022 to 4th July 2022 so that’s how I would play this (if I ever do) since £39.99 for a 6 hour game is unreasonable to me.

What I said in my earlier comment works for ALL challenges. When you get to an arena and start murderin fools check your challenge tracker EVERY FEW KILLS (or whatever its supposed to track).

If you notice it NOT TRACKING; IMMEDIATLY pause and close to the main menu. DO NOT WORRY! Then click continue. You will reload into the arena you were previously in WITH your challenge tracker in tack. Now repeat whatever challenge that wasn’t tracking and check again in your challenge menu that its tracking.

DO THIS EVERY SO OFTEN BECAUSE CHALLENGES WILL STOP TRACKING FOR NO REASON WHAT SO EVER!!!

Do yourself a favor and get all the challenges out the way the first chance you get and follow a video guide for the hidden upgrade orbs. I got this plat within (I think) 3 days of release on PSNow.

Something worth noting though, Arenas don’t seem to have any spikes after chapter 6. I’m near end game and haven’t seen any for a while, shouldn’t take long to get do in a new game though

There are lots of chances for the spike trophy but I got it in the first arena. As for “Cool Guy” trophy if you’re following my previous advice when doing the challenges it will unlock naturally. Also, literally every ability you can get in the game will help with one challenge or another. Follow a video guide for upgrades. Txt guides are horrible.

Just in case people need to know this game is also like Doom Eternal in that enemy types classified as fodder (the ice ones and the humanlike ones that run at you) keep spawning infinitely during fights as long as there’s a heavy enemy type around, so you can just leave one of those alive and grind out challenges on the smaller enemies or achievements that require grinding. If you follow this method you should pretty much be able to have every challenge done by the end of Chapter 6. I want to say the smaller (not the big standard ones) explosive barrels respawn too, but that might just be the fodder yokai enemies dropping them.
