Starfield New Game+ Explained

August 31, 2023 by PowerPyx 1 Comment

Starfield offers multiple cycles of New Game+. Whenever you finish a playthrough, a new playthrough automatically starts without warning.

  • Finishing Main Quest “One Giant Leap” will finish the story. There is no “Point of no Return” warning. It’s recommended to make a Manual Save at this point. If you don’t, you can still go back by reloading the oldest Autosave immediately when starting New Game+.
  • New Game+ resets ALL your progress except level and skills (it resets all missions, side quests, inventory items, relationships, starships, outposts, exploration progress, discovered Systems/Planets, crewmates etc).
  • You get a new spaceship at the start of New Game+ and a new armor set that’s not available on the first playthrough.
  • In New Game+ you will be given dialogue options to completely skip some main missions.
  • Some dialogues are different, people will react differently to you than before (it’s as though they have never met you), especially while traveling in the NG+ spaceship and wearing the new spacesuit.
  • Certain main quests are shortened or combined. You will need to collect all Artifacts again but when first visiting The Eye it will mark multiple artifacts right away so you could immediately go for them and skip much of the story. This makes the NG+ playthrough shorter.
  • Finishing New Game+ starts another cycle where everything resets.
  • On each playthrough the Artifact Locations are randomized (different for every player on every playthrough). They aren’t in a fixed spot, it’s randomly generated on each playthrough. The available “Landing Sites” you see on planets are also randomly placed on each playthrough (only major cities and some story locations are in fixed places).
  • If a Companion died or you destroyed a relationship they can be met again and it’s like you never met them, can retry building a relationship.
  • Finishing a playthrough also wipes out all bounties you had. So if you want, you could go wild at the end of your playthrough and cause some havoc, it all gets reset in the next run and nobody will remember any crimes you did. Before going into NG+ you may want to try the Fastest XP Farming Method for Level 100.

Can you confirm if stats stay saved in new game + like “Locks picked: 32” for achievements.
