Introduction

Welcome to the System Shock 2 25th Anniversary Remaster Trophy Guide! In order to get Platinum, you will need to complete the game 3 times, including once on Impossible difficulty, find all Audio Logs, get all skills to Level 6 and complete various weapon and psionic-related feats.

The game features 3 career paths which are your starting classes. Each career path will have some level of customization when you start, but ultimately this only determines your starting skills, as each career path will have access to the full set of skills. You need to complete the game with each career path, which is why 3 playthroughs are required.

Step 1: Complete the game on any difficulty following the Marine or Navy career path, finding all Audio Logs

The career path you decide to start with doesn’t matter too much, but Marine or Navy is recommended as they are more beginner friendly. Marine has more weapon-focused skills, whereas Navy has more hacking and technical skills. Regardless of which you choose, OSA is best saved for last as it has a slightly higher learning curve, and has skills better used on Impossible difficulty.

As you play through the game, you will want to look out for Audio Logs. There are 147 to be collected throughout the game and they can be tracked at any time through your PDA. Following the System Shock 2 Remaster Collectibles Guide will cover all collectibles (Audio Logs and OS Upgrade Stations) as well as location-specific miscellaneous trophies. While playing you will also want to keep in mind the various psionic abilities and weapon-related trophies.

You will also want to get all skills to Level 6, but fortunately you do not need to get them all to Level 6 simultaneously. This means you can save up some Cyber Modules and make a save, upgrade skills for their respective trophies, then revert back. This is also helpful for the various weapon and psionic ability trophies, as you can invest into the skills required to use them, get the trophies then revert without having to commit Cyber Modules to using weapons or abilities you aren’t planning to use.

The game has one major Point of No Return, which occurs when leaving Deck 7: UNN Rickenbacker. Prior to this point you are able to access every location from Deck 1-7, so it is wise to make a separate manual save before leaving Deck 7 in case you miss any collectibles or want to come back to do any miscellaneous trophies.

Simply follow the Collectible Guide and you’ll get everything as you play through the game.

Step 2: Complete the game again following the career path you didn’t use

Play through the game again as Marine or Navy, whichever you didn’t use on your first playthrough. If there are any miscellaneous trophies you missed, now is the best time to get them.

Step 3: Complete the game on Impossible difficulty following the OSA career path

Impossible difficulty increases the Cyber Module cost of skill and psionic ability upgrades (+79% increase over normal), Replicator cost for items (+100% over normal) and lowers your starting Health and PSI. By default you will only have 10 HP compared to 35 HP on normal difficulty. The health and damage of enemies are unchanged, nor are items found throughout the game. Because of these changes, you will need to be a bit more deliberate with your choice of skill upgrades.

OSA is best for Impossible as the potential Cyber Module cost of the starting skills and psionic abilities is higher than that of Marine and Navy, plus it can start with multiple helpful psionic abilities which are very beneficial when dealing with low health. Overall this isn’t too difficult however as once you start getting weapons you can quickly overcome anything in the game and still have plenty of resources.

Skills can be upgraded by spending Cyber Modules at Upgrade Stations, found all around the game. All skills can be upgraded to level 6, and the cost from 0 will depend on the difficulty you are playing on:

Easy:

  • Stats: 87
  • Technical: 91
  • Weapon: 105

Normal:

  • Stats: 106
  • Technical: 110
  • Weapon: 127

Hard:

  • Stats: 145
  • Technical: 149
  • Weapon: 174

Impossible:

  • Stats: 187
  • Technical: 193
  • Weapon: 224

Each trophy for getting a skill to level 6 will pop the instant you reach it, even without confirming it, so you can simply save up the minimum requirement for all skills on your current difficulty, then temporarily increase each skill to level 6 to unlock all the skill trophies without investing your Cyber Modules.

Throughout the game are security cameras that will turn red and set off an alarm if you remain in sight for too long. When this happens a 120 second alert will begin. This can be immediately disabled by interacting with a Security Station (marked with S on the map), which will award this trophy.

It takes two to tango
Hack a turret while the security is not offline (Singleplayer Only)
Bronze
Missable!

In order to hack turrets, you will need to either have Level 4 in Hack, or the Tier 4 Psionic ability Remote Circuitry Manipulation. Hacking normally will require you to be up close to a turret and dodge it while hacking, whereas Remote Circuitry Manipulation will allow you to do it from a distance and hide behind cover while hacking. You can also simply use an ICE-Pick, which is a rare item that will instantly hack anything, regardless of level.

Power up with a paper clip
Hack a GAMEPIG Handheld game console (Singleplayer Only)
Bronze

The GAMEPIG is a handheld console you can find regularly throughout the game that lets you play variations of classic arcade games. The earliest can be found on a body in Med/Sci 1, near the entrance to Med/Sci 2. In order to hack a GAMEPIG, you will need either Level 6 in Hack, or an ICE-Pick, which is a rare item that will instantly hack anything, regardless of level.

This is for completing an optional objective for meeting Delacroix in Deck 6: Command. When you are tasked with destroying the two shuttles at the Shuttle Bay, you will need to destroy the second one by acquiring a Sympathetic Resonator. After destroying it, the previously-locked blast door to Cargo Bay A will be destroyed, and SHODAN will warn you not to go in if you try to. Ignore her and you will find Delacroix inside. Read the Audio Log, then when you leave the Cargo Bay you will earn this trophy.

I’m a lover…
Visit every one of the Love Simulation rooms (Singleplayer Only)
Bronze
Missable!

In Deck 5: Recreation, in Recreation C, you will find the Sensual Stimulation Units in the northwest of the area. Upstairs will be four locked doors and a Replicator selling access cards to these doors. You will need to unlock all four doors for this trophy. The access cards will be costly, so you may want to hack the Replicator to get them cheaper. Alternatively you can simply save beforehand, unlock all doors and then revert the save. The only room with anything of value is Nikki’s, as it has some cyber modules and 500 nanites.

Archivist
Find every Audio Log (Singleplayer Only)
Silver
Missable!

There are 147 Audio Logs spread throughout the game. They are physical objects found around the world, on corpses or in objects like desks and crates. You can track which Audio Logs you have obtained by using your PDA, as it lists all Audio Logs found and the Deck they were found on, so if you miss any, you can reference this to see what you have missed.

Missable!

In order to get this trophy, you will first need to find a basketball in the Prologue. As soon as you go up the gravity elevator onto the street, instead of entering the UNN Building turn to the right and there will be a ramped wall next to where you came up. Climb onto this (jump and hold :x: to mount the wall) and you will find a basketball sitting on top. Make sure to pick this up, then it will appear in your inventory.

You will need to bring this to Deck 5: Recreation for a secret email and trophy, so make sure to never lose it. While carrying it throughout the game, never put it in the far right inventory slots, as if you ever lose a strength level even temporarily, you will lose inventory slots from the right and if there is no inventory space for the items in those spots, they will get dropped to the ground, meaning it’s possible to not notice and have the basketball drop somewhere random.

Once you have access to the Athletics area in Recreation A, head inside to find a basketball court. Position yourself in front of the basketball hoop and look at it, then open your inventory and drop the basketball to throw it. You will get a secret email and this trophy.

It won’t start with any weapon skills however, so until you can upgrade them you will need to rely on your Wrench and psionic abilities. Overall this isn’t too difficult however as once you start getting weapons you can quickly overcome anything in the game and still have plenty of resources.

Weapon-wise you will want to get the Shotgun, Assault Rifle and Grenade Launcher. These are by far the most powerful all-around weapons and allows you to focus on one weapon type with only 1 level into Heavy. Combine these with 1 level in Modify and you’ll be able to get the first modification upgrade on the Shotgun and Grenade Launcher easily, then use any French-Epstein Devices you find to get their second modifications and both Assault Rifle modifications.

Due to your low health, it is recommended that you save regularly so you don’t lose too much progress if you die, at least until you have activated the Regenerator in your current area. This can also be used to easily open locked crates without investing too much into Hack, as you can simply save in front of one and reload if you use too many nanites or the crate explodes from you failing.

The exact spread of skills is up to you, and if you want to use different weapons or go a different build you can, but for reference I completed it with the below skills and still had an abundance of ammo, supplies and nanites.

Stats:

  • Strength: 3
  • Endurance: 3
  • Psionic Ability: 3
  • Agility: 3
  • Cybernetic Affinity: 3

Tech:

  • Hack: 3
  • Repair: 0
  • Modify: 1
  • Maintenance:4
  • Research: 0 (Use LabAssistant implant for all Level 1 Researches)

Weapon:

  • Standard: 6
  • Energy: 0
  • Heavy: 1
  • Exotic: 0

Psionics:

  • First Tier Neural Capacity
    • Psycho-Reflective Screen
    • Psychogenic Agility
  • Second Tier Neural Capacity
    • Neural Decontamination
    • Cerebro-Stimulated Regeneration
  • Fourth Tier Neural Capacity
    • Photonic Redirection
    • Molecular Transmutation
  • Fifth Tier Neural Capacity
    • Advanced Cerebro-Stimulated Regeneration
    • Psycho-Reflective Aura

OS Upgrades:

  • Cybernetically Enhanced – allows the use of two different implants simultaneously
  • Sharpshooter – increases the damage of non-psionic ranged weapons by 15%
  • Pharmo-Friendly – increases potency and length from all hypos by 20%
  • Tank – increases HP by 10

Making a guide for a game like this must be a real pain. Thanks!
What was the most complex/difficult guide that you have ever written? just really curios.

And since you guys are doing a Ninja Gaiden 4 guide, could you write one for Ninja Gaiden Ragebound, pretty please?… it is not listed under next guides, so i guess not planned.
