Introduction

Welcome to the Mixtape Trophy Guide! Mixtape is the newest game from Beethoven & Dinosaur, who previously created the musical side scrolling adventure The Artful Escape. Mixtape is in a similar style, but in a full narrative adventure closer to Life is Strange. The story follows a trio of high school seniors through their final day in town together, with very heavy usage of 90s period music to tell the story. Trophy-wise the game is quite easy, with a full platinum playthrough only taking around 3-4 hours. You can also clean up trophies quickly using chapter select.

Step 1: Complete the Game Following the Walkthrough Earning All Trophies

Follow the Mixtape 100% Walkthrough to get Platinum in 1 playthrough.

If you happen to miss any of the timed or misc trophies you can use chapter select to restart the chapter they are in immediately, but be aware this will cause the “collected” status of interactions to visually reset for the section of the story you are in. The interactions are still counted as collected and you don’t need to interact with them again for the trophy, but it can make keeping track of them confusing and makes you go through all of Cassandra and Slater’s dialogues again for new ones.

Step 2: Cleanup

If you did a blind first playthrough or need to clean up anything missed during the initial playthrough, you can use chapter select after the story to jump to any spot within the story you need for the remaining trophies.

Thrashed
Ollie a car.
Bronze
Chapter 1: Skate to Rockford’s

While skating at the very start of the game, Ollie over a car with :x: in the left lane. It is easier to ollie over the shorter white or red cars, though you can do it over the taller ones with very precise timing. If you jump too soon and hit the car you are automatically placed back in time a short amount and can try again on the same car if you want. This can also be earned in the other skateboarding sections throughout the game if you miss it in Chapter 1.

Front To Back
Find everything in the bedrooms and all unique conversations.
Gold
This trophy is awarded for completing each “room” section of the story, along with doing all optional item interactions and exhausting all dialogue for Cassandra and Slater during these sections. While playing through normally you can see if you haven’t interacted with something or have new available dialogue because a white dot will be visible over the item or character, then if you have already interacted with an item or have no new dialogue there will be a hollow dot. If you are doing a full playthrough you can use this to see new items, though note that if you use chapter select the visual indicator is reset and dialogue for Cassandra and Slater starts over for that section, but the game still keeps track of items you have previously interacted with.

You can follow the 100% Walkthrough to obtain all interactions as well as other trophies in a single playthrough.

If you completed the playthrough and didn’t earn this trophy, you can clean it up using chapter select to jump to specific spots and going through all interactions and dialogue again quickly to see what you missed.

  • Chapter 2: Rockford’s House – Specifically to interact with the closed door in the hallway (Debbie’s room).
  • Chapter 8: Photobooth – Pick up the shell to have Cassandra and Slater move, then interact with every item on the upper floor and exhaust Cassandra and Slater’s dialogue.
  • Chapter 15: Floating on Sadness – Exhaust Slater’s dialogue.
  • Chapter 16: Cassandra’s Rooftop – Exhaust Cassandra’s dialogue and interact with everything in her room and the two items in the hallway. The curtain above the window and the closed door in the hallway seem to be missed most frequently.
  • Chapter 23: Leaf Sweeping – Exhaust Slater’s dialogue, interact with everything around the area.
  • Chapter 25: Slater’s House – Interact with the tape player so Slater moves, then exhaust his dialogue and interact with every item in his room.

If doing this didn’t work for you, then you may need to try playing through each bedroom section from the start again and always interacting with Cassandra and Slater in each scene where they have new dialogue. This seems to unlock the requirement if doing all dialogue in the final interaction of each section doesn’t work.

French Connection
Kiss for 60 seconds
Bronze
Chapter 3: The Kiss

The chapter is just a minigame where you have gameplay of two people kissing. You need to stay in the kissing minigame for 60 seconds. The trophy won’t unlock until you back out, so you need to time this yourself if you want to know exactly when you quit out.

Smooth Shopper
Don’t crash once while escaping in the shopping cart.
Gold
Chapter 5: Shopping Cart Bomb

During the shopping cart section, avoid hitting anything by steering with the left stick, and keeping yourself straight with :l1: + :r1: . The main goal is just to avoid hitting any cars while sticking mostly to the center of the road. If you crash you need to start the chapter over and try from the start. The trophy will unlock when you reach the bottom of the hill and the cutscene to end the chapter occurs.

Grunge Metal Alchemist
Make Slater’s secret slushy recipe.
Gold
Chapter 8: Ultimate Slushie

In this chapter you make a slushie as Rockford and Slater. Slater’s secret recipe is learned from a poster in his room later in the game, but you can do the first time you enter Chapter 8. With either of the two slushies, mix Blue Crush, Bubblegum, Lime, and Orange. You can do a quarter of each, and the trophy will unlock immediately after the cup is filled when it shows your finished product.

Cone Island, Baby.
Knock over 10 traffic cones during the skate from Rockford’s house.
Silver
Chapter 11: Skate to Cassandra’s

During this skating section you need to knock over all 10 of the orange cones that are found along the route. There are exactly 10, so if you miss one you’ll need to try again from the start of the chapter. There are a couple spots where if you miss a cone you can try turning hard to the side to crash and rewind which still counts as long as you hit all cones at least once during the right.

Cones 1 2 and 3 are to the right of the yellow dump truck, right on the center line of the road.

Cone 4 is when you reach the intersection where you can see the school bus ahead and Rockford starts yelling at the truck, right on the center line past the intersection.

Cones 5 and 6 are after going under the semi trailer, in the center of the path before the construction area.

Cone 7 is in the first section of the construction area before going off the ledge.

Cones 8 and 9 are on the right side of the road once the camera switches to an overhead angle. These are the hardest two to hit because of this. If you miss one or both you can try turning into the blue car on the left of the road and you should be reset up the road just before the cones.

Cone 10 is when the camera switches back to being behind you, just past the cars on the left. If you hit all 10 cones during the run the trophy will unlock immediately upon hitting this one. If it didn’t you’ll need to try again.

Skim Gordon
Throw a stone through the tyre swing.
Bronze
Chapter 12: Skipping Stones

During the skipping stones minigame, you need to throw a stone through the tire swing hanging on the right. You throw exactly where the small aim dot in the center of the screen is, so aim at the top middle of the hole in the tire. You can keep trying as much as you need here as you need to choose to exit the minigame after the characters are finished talking.

Instructions Not Required
Complete minimaster assembly in under 15 seconds.
Gold
Chapter 17: Cassandra’s Rooftop

After interacting with Slater he gives you the Minimaster, and need to swap the batteries in under 15 seconds.

Move the hand to the Minimaster and grab it with :r2:  , then use the right stick to rotate and flip it over.

Press :r2: on the battery cover to open it, then one at a time grab the two batteries and move them over to the slots. They’ll automatically move to the slot they are meant to be in.

Press :r2: to close the battery cover, then pick it up and flip it back over. Press :r2: on the power button to turn it on and complete the minigame. If you need to try again you can start from the Cassandra’s Rooftop scene and speak to Slater again.

And It’s Outta There!
Hit only home runs as Cassandra.
Gold
Chapter 14: Softball

In this chapter you are hitting softballs as Rockford, followed by Cassandra, who you need to hit every ball to hit all home runs. After the first ball which is right down the center, each other ball is on the outside, and to hit them you just need to push the left stick fully in that direction, then hit :x: right when the circle around the target is exactly around it. For example in below image the target is on the top, so push the left stick straight up and then swing when the outer circle lines up. All hits as Cassandra are home runs, so you just need to push in the correct direction and swing at the right time. Unfortunately after the first hit the directions seem to be randomized, so you will need to react quickly to hit each ball.

Triple Ply
Throw 50 rolls at the house.
Gold
Chapter 15: Triple Ply

During this chapter you are throwing toilet paper at a house, keep throwing rolls until the trophy unlocks, then you can choose to leave when you’re ready.

It’s The Pigs, Darling
Hit 3 pig balloons.
Bronze
Chapter 16: Floating on Sadness

In this chapter you are floating backwards through a bunch of areas. After flying above the buildings you go through an area with a bunch of large pig-shaped balloons. You need to steer into the 3 that are in your path as you float. They are very easy to hit, but note that the trophy doesn’t unlock until the end of the section when you float into Rockford’s house right before the scene switches back to Cassandra’s Room.

Don’t. Move.
Take 20 photos in Bodacious Cretaceous.
Silver
Chapter 18: Bodacious Cretaceous

In this chapter you are taking photos in an abandoned park. You just need to take at least 20 total photos before the end of the section. They can be all at once when you have access to the camera, or spread throughout the area. The final room where you can take photos is the one after the volcano room, so make sure you earn the trophy by that point. The trophy will unlock immediately once you have taken your 20th photo.

Appetite For Destruction
Explode all objects on your way to the secret hideout.
Silver
Chapter 19: Skateboard Explosion

In this skateboarding section you can hit :l2: and :r2: to cause items along the path to explode. The items will be highlighted with red lines when you are near them, but you can also just mash the triggers the entire way through and you should hit every object. The trophy will unlock when you blow up the gumball machine while going through the mall if you’ve hit every object.

Paint it, Black, If You Want.
Paint the entire door in under 30 seconds.
Silver
Chapter 21: Door Painting

In this minigame you are painting the door of the house in a flashback. Move the left stick to position the roller, then hold :r2: to paint, then move the roller up or down. To do this quickly, go immediately to side and to the top or bottom, then roll the entire edge. Move the roller over enough to cover a new strip, then go back across again, repeat until the door is completely covered. You don’t need 100% of the door covered, there is a bit of leeway, so if you miss a small amount during one of the rolls keep going and then come back to cover it at the end. The trophy will unlock immediately during the painting if you cover the majority of the door fast enough.

Sofa King Fast
Get the couch in place within 30 seconds.
Silver
Chapter 22: Couch Moving

In this minigame you are moving a sofa across the area while controlling Cassandra and Slater on either end with both sticks. Immediately start going right with both of them and try to take as straight of a path as you can through the middle. When you reach the right side you can see the spot on the ground where you need to drop the couch, you need to be directly over top of it so that it turns green, then you receive the :x: prompt to drop it. The correct position should be that Cassandra and Slater’s feet are just outside the rectangle on the short sides. If you did it fast enough the trophy will unlock as soon as you drop the couch.

Leaves That Are Green
Clear the leaves in under 45 seconds.
Silver
Chapter 23: Leaf Sweeping

In this minigame you are sweeping leaves out of the area of the firepit. Hold :r2: to charge up your broom swing, then release to blow large amounts of the leaves. Do this starting from the middle to push out most of the leaves, then go around the edge mashing sweep without charging to clear the rest of the leaves. Once all leaves are out of the circle it will turn green, and you will be awarded the trophy.

From The Hip
Hit all the cans in under 30 seconds.
Silver
Chapter 24: Slingshot

In this minigame you are shooting cans and bottles on the top of the car with a slingshot. Even though the trophy says cans, you need to hit ALL bottles and cans. Start from either the left or right, and move to the other side shooting all of them as you go. Aim by placing the thing you are shooting at just above Rockford’s fingers while charging. If you are quick enough the trophy will unlock immediately when you hit the last can or bottle.

Doppelbanger
Knock over all the character cut outs in the video store.
Silver
Chapter 26: Starlight Video

In this chapter you are walking around a video store as Slater. For this trophy you need to knock over the character cutouts that are found around the store. There are 5 total, two at the end of the aisles to the left, two on the back wall, and one at the end of the aisle near the clerk. You can do a lap around the outside wall while also knocking over video tapes to find them all, and the trophy will unlock immediately when you knock over the 5th one.

Tapehead Graveyard
Knock 200 VHS tapes off the shelves in the video store.
Silver
Chapter 26: Starlight Video

In this chapter you are walking around a video store as Slater. This trophy requires you knock a total of 200 VHS tapes off the shelves as you are walking around. Brushing against the shelves will knock the tapes off, so you just need to walk around the room and keep knocking off tapes until the trophy unlocks.

Well, Take A Look At You
Don’t miss a single jump or slide while rescuing Cassandra.
Silver
Chapter 27: The Run

This chapter is an auto running section where you need to jump with :x: and slide with :r2: to avoid obstacles in your way. Obstacles are very obvious throughout, if there isn’t an obvious hole you slide under, then you jump over it. There are some taller obstacles like fences that it might look like Rockford has ran into, but this doesn’t count, only if you miss a specific jump or slide. If done correctly the trophy will unlock immediately when the cutscene starts before Rockford drops the firework in the trash can.

Banned In Massachusetts
Don’t miss any fireworks in the coastal cruise.
Silver
Chapter 28: Coastal Cruise

This chapter functions the same as the skateboarding explosion section where you hit :l2: and :r2: to set off fireworks as they appear on screen. You can keep mashing the triggers throughout to continue setting of the fireworks as they appear and the trophy should unlock right before the cutscene where the cars are on the ground again.

Fight For Your Right
Acquire all the items at the party.
Silver
Chapter 29: Party at the Ritz

In this chapter you are playing as Slater through the view of a camcorder, and need to walk around the party filming people shown by the white boxes, as well as picking up items for this trophy. Once you get into the main area the white boxes visible in the camera show where you need to go for filming, but there are other partygoers you need to also accept items from. There are a bunch of people you can high-five, but they don’t count toward this.

Walk forward and on the right is a guy in sunglasses who offers you a drink, take it and keep interacting to drink all of it.

Slightly forward on the left until you reach a girl who offers you a drink, take it and drink it.

Go toward the center of the yard slightly right of the interaction with Rockford and the radio and a man will offer you some food, take it and eat it.

Directly behind him is a bow with more food. Keep taking and eating until you can’t take anymore.

Facing the house on the right is a girl in all black who offer another drink.

Just past those partygoers toward the house there is a bathtub filled with drinks you can pick up. Keep taking and drinking the drinks until there isn’t a prompt to take anymore.

Go onto the deck of the house and left of the door the girl will offer you another drink.

Turn opposite the house where there is a marker to film the guy in the sunglasses, the girl to his left offers another drink. After picking this one up the trophy should unlock.

Imo that softball trophy is much harder than the one for knocking the 10 traffic cones down.

The Banned in Massachusetts trophy feels bugged but it’s doable. Took me 8 tries and I had to tap Circle and Triangle as fast as I possibly could. The triggers just weren’t fast enough for me.

For some reason the fireworks trophy won’t unlock for me despite going through it twice and frantically tapping the triggers. Anyone else having a similar problem?

Banned In Massachusetts can take a bit of trial and error. You can also spam the face buttons as well and that counts. It seems the big finale can be pretty patchy, easier to just spam the triggers and the face buttons.

Seems some dialogue with Cassandra is a bit similar, but has different branches.

Each bedroom contains multiple dialogue lines for Slater/Cassandra that appear in a specific sequence. If you are missing one of the later dialogue lines, it may be necessary to play through that bedroom’s connected chapters in a single session without quitting or using Chapter Select, as using Chapter Select appears to reset the dialogue progression back to the first line.

For example, starting from Cassandra’s House, you can speak to the character for dialogue, then pick up the yellow item to enter “Softball,” return to the bedroom for additional dialogue, continue through “Toilet Paper,” return, then “Floating on Sadness,” and finally Cassandra’s Rooftop, with new dialogue potentially appearing between each section.

If you instead load directly into a later chapter, such as “Floating on Sadness” via Chapter Select, the dialogue sequence may reset to the beginning.

Based on testing, it seems the most reliable approach is to complete each bedroom’s related sequence in one uninterrupted sitting so the dialogue progression carries over correctly.
