Chernobylite the game has an item with the same name that’s also called “Chernobylite”. You may have come across this mysterious resource already but with seemingly no way to make use of it.
There are two ways to get Chernobylite: By finding it at optional objectives (the “?” question mark icons on the map) and by crafting it at the Chernobylite Synthesizer in your base (costs Mushrooms and Herbs).
Chernobylite can only be used in one way: After you die in the game, you will go to an “afterlife dimension”. There you can see all story decisions of your last life. The game gives you the option to change your previous story choices, in exchange for Chernobylite. It usually costs 3 Chernobylite to change one story decision retroactively in this manner. There’s nothing else to do with it, it has no use in crafting or upgrading gear.
So basically, it’s not of much use unless you are unhappy with some story decisions and want to go back to change them. It can also be fun to experiment with resetting some choices to see how they’d affect the present day in your next life, but it usually only affects the relationship with your teammates.
