Website Upgrade – New Site Design Now Live!

Did you ever open a page with 50 videos and it took a minute to load? That’s what my old website was like. But no more!

I have spent the last weeks redoing everything from SCRATCH. Let me show you what’s new:

Complete Trophy Guides + New Trophy Guide Layouts

My old Trophy Guide pages included only the trophies I made videos for. The new layout contains the full trophy list. I will add my videos to the trophy guide pages as usual. But additionally, I will fill in text descriptions for anything I don’t cover in videos. This means you will get COMPLETE trophy guides from now on (usually ready on release day)! Roadmaps are planned for all games from now on, too.

Here is an example guide with the new layout: No Man’s Sky Trophy Guide.

Trophy Guides now sortable by release date + added search function

The new trophy guide overview has a built-in search function. The old overview showed the amount of videos contained in the guide. But now that I want to move towards complete trophy guides this value doesn’t have much use anymore. I replaced it with the game’s release date and made the guide list sortable. You can filter it by release date if you want, to show the newest guides on top.

New menu for “General Game Guides”

In addition to trophy guides I like to bring you complete collectible guides, walkthroughs, tips, tricks and other game info. So it made sense to add an extra section for that. On the game guides page you can find all the latest strategies and collectible guides. Keep an eye on that one. I plan on posting very frequently there in the future. The Uncharted 4 Collectible Guide is a very good example of what you can expect. Sometimes I find a useful trick or item location, but it doesn’t necessarily need its own video. Now I have a place to share those tips with you.

New Homepage

The homepage now contains a list of all new articles (sorted by publication date). The old one was a static page with a list of upcoming guide projects. Those have been moved to their own page: https://www.powerpyx.com/upcoming-guides/
When you want to stay up to date with everything I post, the homepage is the place to look.

Website is now mobile friendly 🙂

My stats show me that most of you are reading this with a mobile device. So to make your life easier the website will now fit perfectly on all devices (even good old PS Vita).

Improved loading times by 1000%

That’s not a typo. Go to the Metal Gear Solid V – S Rank Guide for example. Page load time before: 7.31 seconds. Page load now: 0.729 seconds. That page has 50 embedded YouTube players on it! Now it loads 10 times faster.

This is achieved by loading only the video players you are actually seeing on your screen. The old site felt very sluggish because it was loading all videos when you entered the page. Now it only loads up the players when they are visible on your device (they actually start loading as you scroll down to make it smoother – you might not even notice on higher-end devices).

New Site Design

My old site had tons of large graphics. While I liked the way it looked, it took up too much space and was loading slowly. Now almost all design elements and coloring are done through clean code. This is faster and looks cleaner / more professional. And of course I stuck with the blue & white color scheme 🙂
The text is now black on white background (before it was white on black). Text size has been increased to improve readability.

Finally, you can leave comments here. Test it out right now and leave a comment below. The comment section uses your gravatar (a gravatar is an avatar that follows you around the internet on all websites that support it. You can create one on gravatar.com).

• Moving to faster server in the coming weeks (further improves loading times)
