Final Fantasy XVI Story Length:
Depending on your chosen difficulty and how thoroughly you explore for side content it can vary a lot. But on average most players will take around 60 hours on the first playthrough. Anywhere from 35-70 hours depending on how much side content you do.
- Easy Difficulty focusing only on Main Quests (ignoring Side Content) = 35 Hours
- Easy Difficulty 100% Completion Playthrough with all Side Content = 50-70 Hours
- Normal Difficulty focusing only on Main Quests (ignoring Side Content) = 40 Hours
- Normal Difficulty 100% Completion Playthrough with all Side Content = 60-80 Hours
- New Game+ Final Fantasy Mode Playthrough = 15-25 Hours (if you skip all cutscenes/dialogues and focus only on story. 30 Hours if you watch all cutscenes/dialogues again.)
These times assume you watch all cutscenes and dialogues. If you skip everything you can be at least 10 hours faster. Depending on how much side content you are planning to do, you can get a rough guess how long it will take you. The difference between a story-focused playthrough (35-40 hours) and a thorough 100% completion playthrough (around 70 hours) is around 30 hours. So if you only plan on doing half the side content you can assume half that time difference (so 15 hours instead of 30 hours extra).
New Game+ can be finished a bit faster. Even though enemies have more health on Final Fantasy mode, you will start out with the most powerful endgame abilities (they carry over). Because you will already know everything and can skip all scenes you should be able to get through New Game+ faster when ignoring side quests.
100% Completion / Platinum Trophy Length:
- Time to Earn Platinum Trophy = 70-90 Hours
The first playthrough should be dedicated to getting all collectibles and 100% completion which will take roughly 60 hours. You will also need to do a New Game+ Final Fantasy Mode playthrough which will take roughly 20 hours. You can be a bit faster by using Autoassist Rings (such as Autoevade) and by skipping all scenes.
