Follow the Crystals is the 42nd main story quest in Final Fantasy 16 (XVI), and a subquest of Riddle of the Sands. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the Follow the Crystals main scenario chapter.
- Starting Location: The Dalimil Inn, Dhalmekia
- Requirement: Occurs during Riddle of the Sands
- Reward: 300 XP, 800 Gil, 15 Renown, 80 Wyrrite, 1 Meteorite
- Quest Info: Clive and Byron learn that the enigmatic Ruzena Dalimil is in fact a young man by the name of L’ubor, who demands they prove themselves by “putting an end to the trouble in Dalimil.” Only then will he aid them in securing passage through the south gate.
Clive and his uncle root out the ne’er-do-wells expropriating Dalimil’s crystal shipments, and L’ubor makes good on his word. The gate now open, they press on to Drake’s Fang.
Objectives:
- Speak with the townspeople 0/3
- Find Byron
- Speak with Byron
- Rendezvous with the soldiers in the desert
- Defeat the soldiers
Speak with the townspeople 0/3
To investigate the crystal’s disappearance, you need to speak with more people around town. There are three locations marked on the map, and the people to talk to will be marked once you enter those areas.
Find Byron
After exhausting Clive’s options, you’ll need to find where Byron has gone. Head back to the inn and speak with the innkeeper standing outside.
She directs Clive upstairs. Take the stairs directly left of her, then go left at the split to find Byron speaking with a soldier.
Speak with Byron
Head over and speak with Byron after the soldier leaves.
Rendezvous with the soldiers in the desert
You now need to head out the northeast side of town into The Southern Velkroy Desert area. Continue all the way to its southeast corner.
Defeat the soldiers
After the scene, you will need to deal with a number of soldiers to reclaim the crystals.
After the soldiers are defeated there are a number of scenes, and you will complete the subquest.
This finishes Follow the Crystals Main Quest in Final Fantasy 16 (XVI).
