Crash Course is the eleventh subquest in the Prologue: Act 1, The Outlander Who Caught The Wind, an Archon Quest in Genshin Impact. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the Crash Course Archon Subquest.
Crash is unlocked automatically when you finish the previous subquest, Knights of Favonius.

Immediately after completing Knights of Favonius, three separate subquests unlock: Crash Course, Sparks Amongst the Pages, and this one, Winds of the Past. All three must be completed to finish the Prologue: Act 1 quest, The Outlander Who Caught the Wind.
Meet Kaeya at the temple
Reaching Kaeya is a bit of a walk. To make it a little easier, teleport to the Teleport Waypoint just outside of Mondstadt. Then walk along the winding easterly path to get there. Once close, jump off the short cliff to find Kaeya waiting for you outside the Domain.
Enter the temple
Walk up the short stairs to reach and enter the temple entrance. The character screen pops up, letting you setup your party before beginning the Domain. Add as many characters as you can and start the Domain.
Talk to Kaeya
Proceed up the short stairs and approach Kaeya. Once you’re close, a short cutscene triggers before Kaeya joins your party as a Trial character.
Explore the temple’s depths
Run forward, unlocking a Door of Resurrection to your left as you go. Just down the ledge is a room of shallow water and several hilichurls. Here, you learn about how elements Hydro and Cryo (water and ice) interact. Interacting with water applies the Wet element to the target, you included.
Attacking a Wet-applied target with Cryo damage freezes the target. Use Kaeya to freeze and defeat the hilichurls. If you wish, you can also use Amber’s Pyro on frozen targets to inflict Melt, a specific reaction when Cryo and Pyro interact, for extra damage.
Once you beat the hilichurls, proceed through the door that opens behind them and unlock the Door of Resurrection right in front of you.
To continue right, you must contend with Pyro turrets to proceed. Cast Kaeya’s Elemental Skill to temporarily shut down the Pyro turrets.
Behind the first turret is a treasure chest, and two Hydro slimes appear as your approach the chest. Open the chest and defeat the two slimes. Then use Kaeya’s Elemental Skill to shut down the second Pyro turret to continue further into the Domain.
Down the short stair, the camera shifts to the wind gust on your left. Use your glider to ride the gust to the top, then float forward to unlock the next Door of Resurrection.
Click on the off-kilter cube to open the door in front of you and proceed into the next area.
Inside is a large Pyro Slime bouncing around a blue crystal. That blue crystal is a Hydro Amber. You find Ambers like these all throughout Genshin Impact, and, when destroyed, these Ambers apply the element they contain to the area around them.
When you approach, smaller Pyro Slimes appear to fight you. Destroy the Hydro Amber to apply Wet to all of the Slimes, and use what you have learned so far to defeat the slimes. Once you dispatch them, open the Precious Chest that unlocks immediately after taking out all of the slimes.
Take the stairs to the left, where you find a patch blocked by patches of spikes submerged in water. Swimming in these patches will kill you. Instead, use Kaeya’s Elemental Skill to freeze the water and walk across the first patch.
Before going over the second patch, be sure to turn right to find an Exquisite Chest. Then cross the second patch.
To cross the second patch of water, time using Kaeya’s Elemental Skill until the sliding block lines up with your path. Then use your created ice in line with the sliding block to continue along the path.
Run forward to unlock the next Door of Resurrection, then run up the stairs and turn right at the top. Run forward to find a Dragon’s Breath, a crystal surging with Anemo energy. Destroy it to finish the Domain.
After a short cutscene where a mysterious Pyro user appears, wielding a Claymore, you appear outside the Domain. Immediately, Kaeya unlocks for you, officially joining your roster of playable characters.
Crash Course is one of three subquests needed to continue the Prologue: Act 1 subquest. The other two subquests are Winds of the Past and Sparks Amongst the Pages.
