Find Kaeya in the Knights of Favonius Headquarters in Mondstadt City, after the story sub-quest Crash Course.
Talk to Kaeya
Kaeya wants your help but doesn’t want to speak in public.
Talk to Kaeya at the meeting spot
Leave the Knights of Favonius Headquarters and head south over the short wall to meet Kaeya.
Approach him to continue the conversation.
Kaeya confides in you his secret of being the grandson of a pirate; note the eyepatch. He came across mentions of a magic sword his grandfather left somewhere.
Go to the Adventurers’ Guild and listen to their report
NOTE: If you haven’t finished Prologue: Act III subquest, When the Wind Dies Down, an NPC involved in the quest conflicts with both quests. To progress Kaeya’s Troubles, you need to progress When the Wind Dies Down.
Find Cyrus just outside of the Adventurers’ Guild and ask him about the mystic sword.
Report to Kaeya
Head back to the Knights of Favonius Headquarters and approach Kaeya, who stands out front.
He tells you his intel tipped him off to look in Whispering Woods for the mystic sword.
Finish this conversation to complete Story Quest, Kaeya’s Troubles.
