An Impromptu Change of Plan is the second subquest in Chapter 1: Act 1, Of the Land Amidst Monoliths, an Archon Quest in Genshin Impact. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the An Impromptu Change of Plans Archon Subquest.
An Impromptu Change of Plan is unlocked automatically when you finish Rite of Descension.

Quest Giver: Automatically given after completing Rite of Descension
Requirement: Complete subquest Rite of Descension

Reward: 550 Adventure EXP, 16,325 Mora, 6 Adventurer’s Experience, 4 Mystic Enhancement Ore
Mission Description: Go to Jueyun Karst and meet the adepti.
Objectives:
- Meet the adepti in Jueyun Karst
- Fight with support from the adepti
Starting Location: Liyue Harbor
Meet the adepti in Jueyun Karst
Use the Teleport Waypoint by Guili Plains then head west on the path.
This is a long walk, but you won’t find many fights along the way. Make sure to grab the Teleport Waypoints along the way, which are circled in the image below.
Eventually, you step into a clearing with a circular, stone foundation and a couple cranes.
Walk onto the circular foundation to meet the adepti.
Fight with support from the adepti
20 Millelith soldiers attack you here. Dispatch them all to talk to the adepti again.
He directs you to meet the Mountain Shaper and the Cloud Retainer.
Finishing this cutscene completes the An Impromptu Change of Plan subquest.
While you’re here, be sure to unlock the nearby Teleport Waypoint and Statue of the Seven.
Once you regain control, climb up the tall mountain just to the east of you. Find the Teleport Waypoint at the top.
Then, glide down to the floating island to unlock the Statue of the Seven and open up more of the map.
