Maintenance Protocol is a side quest in Control Resonant. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the Maintenance Protocol side mission.
- Starting Location: Central > Watchtower
- Requirement: Complete Side Quest: Zoe’s Briefing
- Reward: Standard Issue Coverall
- Quest Description: An alarm is going off in the Oldest House’s lowest sections, triggered for the first time in decades. I’d better find out what’s wrong.

- Fix the Electrosensitive Bulb
- Fix the Volatile Bulb
- Fix the Botanophobic Bulb
- Complete the Final Step at the Projector Room
- Fix the Final Light Bulb

Starting Location: Maintenance Protocol
This quest is automatically started when you speak with Zoe during the side mission Zoe’s Briefing.
Investigate the Oldest House Alarm
You need to go to the Underpass region, near the Deepest Underpass fast travel door. From the fast travel door look south where there is a ledge you can climb to with a door leading into the Oldest House. Inspect the door to speak with Zoe.
Interact with the keypad to the left of the door to open it and head inside.
Defeat all of the Mold enemies in the first room, then go through the door to the south.
Follow the path up into the room with the projector and wait until the video finishes playing.
Find the Light Bulb Coordinates
After the video finishes, you can go into the room nearby and interact with the console by the three red lights. This will then mark 3 locations around the Underpass area that you need to go to and fix the light bulbs.
Fix the Electrosensitive Bulb
The Electrosensitive Bulb is located directly below the Research Stations fast travel door.
To fix this bulb you first need to move the Charges away from the 3 cores that are beside it. You can move one Charge to the core below on the northwest side of the platform.
You can move a second charge to the core below off the west edge of the platform.
You can move the third charge to the core that is just past the second one on the same level.
Once you have moved all three you can interact with the light bulb to fix it.
Fix the Volatile Bulb
The Volatile Bulb is located east of the Halfway Trail fast travel door.
After interacting with the bulb once, you then need to talk to it to calm it down. Choose the dialogue option “You’re okay”.
After the first interaction Hiss will start spawning in the area, defeat them while responding to the light bulb with “I’ll keep them away from you”.
Once the Hiss are defeated, interact with the light bulb again and pick “You deserve to be fixed”.
You can then go directly up to the light bulb and interact with it to fix it.
Fix the Botanophobic Bulb
The Botanophobic Bulb is located on the island north of the Research Site areas. You can reach it by following the path north from the area labelled “Research Site”.
The bulb is in the middle of this island. Destroy the Mold to reveal it, then interact with the bulb to fix it.
Complete the Final Step at the Projector Room
You now need to go back to the room with the projector to complete the bulb maintenance. Fast travel back to the Deepest Underpass fast travel door to reach this area again.
Fix the Final Light Bulb
You can then interact with the light bulb in the video.
Escape the Slides
You are now stuck in the video projection. You can select the options “Where are you going?” > “Unstable bulb” > “Do you know a way out?” > “Break the bulb” to complete the mission.
This finishes the Maintenance Protocol side quest in Control Resonant.
