Introduction
Welcome to the Mortal Shell 2 Trophy Guide! Mortal Shell 2 is a direct sequel to the first Mortal Shell, taking place an unspecified time in the future after the first game’s ending. The game includes largely the same mechanics as the first game, but with double the number of Shells and weapons, in a significantly larger game world.
Trophy-wise, it’s your typical soulslike list, but without the ‘No Shell’ requirement that the first game had. With post launch updates you can complete the game in a single playthrough, and does not require going into NG+. The rest of the trophy list is largely composed of the “Collectibles”: unlocking all Shells, Weapons, and Tarstones, along with a handful of miscellaneous requirements and completing certain side NPC interactions.
Step 1: Complete the Story, Defeat all Main Bosses, Find all Collectibles
Your first step will be to complete the game, defeating each of the main bosses and collect everything required for trophies. You can earn all trophies except the one for viewing Shell Memories in your first playthrough. You can do the first 6 main bosses through the Corrupt Gates in whichever order you like. The intended order is to complete the northern part of the map first, then the southern part of the map, but once you gain the ability to fast travel and clear corruption by siphoning 7 Ova in Marrow Keep you can effectively go in any order. Once you have defeated at least 5 of the 6 main bosses you gain access to the final area of the game through a stairway in the Ova room in Marrow Keep, which means you can fight the final boss without fully clearing all of the main overworld areas.
Make sure to earn the four missable trophies during this step:
- 2 missables are in the very first section of the game:
Mid Summer,
No, You Still Can’t Win. These also can’t be earned in New Game+ anymore, because NG+ starts you back in Marrow Keep and skips the tutorial section. - 1 missable
Peter’s Perfect Parry is for fighting the main boss in the Prisoner’s Domain area and you can attempt this again in NG+ if you missed it. - 1 missable
Bag Holder is for an interaction with a specific NPC which you can mess up, but you can interact with them again in NG+
Step 2: Cleanup and unlocking Shell Memories
Once you defeat the final boss, you are put back in Marrow Keep and can continue in your current playthrough. The main thing you will likely need to clean up now is unlocking the remaining Shell Memories for
Seeking the Past.

Peter’s Perfect Parry Perfect Guard each one of The Nameless Captive’s headspins using the Untarnished Seal |
![]() |
| Video – Peter’s Perfect Parry
MISSABLE This trophy is awarded for Perfect Guarding all hits a specific attack performed by the main boss “The Nameless Captive” while using the Untarnished Seal. This boss is the main boss located in The Prisoner’s Domain overworld area. This is a boss that is designed around parrying, so its attacks are very heavily telegraphed and consistent. The specific attack you need to perfect guard is the variation of the head spin attack he performs during the second phase of the fight. When he reaches half health he’s automatically stunned, allowing you a riposte attack. He will then immediately do a fast attack where he spins his head around 7 times in a row. This attack isn’t the one you need to parry, but in the second phase of the fight after this point he will sometimes perform a similar attack spun in the opposite direction, consisting of 7 head spins in a row but slightly slower with gaps in the timing. It consists of three slow hits, two fast hits, then one more slow hit. The hardest hit to parry is the final one, as the boss will pause slightly after the 6th attack, then do the 7th. Try to keep the boss near a wall when the attack starts so that it pushes you across the arena, which will make seeing the timing of the final one easier. When you perfectly parry all 7 head spins in this attack it will unlock the trophy immediately. If you are parrying the attacks but stunning the boss before reaching the 7th one you’ll likely need to try a different character. If you have them upgraded Eredrim is a good option to try if you are struggling, as they have an ability that increases the timing of the perfect guard/parry window. You can run away from the boss doing other attacks and wait for him to do the head spin attack on its own. You will need to parry all 7 of the hits during this attack, so try to dodge to avoid the other attacks the boss does, because if you stun them during the attack sequence without parrying all 7 attacks then it won’t count and you will need to try again. If you are getting close to the end of the fight and haven’t managed to earn the trophy you can quit to main menu and then continue your game to be put back at the Beacon before the fight. |

Over 9000 Max out a Weapon at the Tarforge |
![]() |
| This trophy is awarded for increasing the level of any weapon to maximum for the first time. Weapons are upgraded using Coin and upgrade materials, which can be found throughout the game. You can obtain a Tarforge Upgrade Item that allows you to remove materials from upgraded weapons, so you don’t need to worry about wasting materials by trying out weapons, only Coin which you can obtain more of by killing enemies.
There are technically two max levels for a weapon. Initially, you can only upgrade a weapon to +16, which will unlock this trophy. In the final Beacon of the game you can obtain an item which allows the Tarforge to increase weapon level to +17 and above, but this isn’t required for this trophy. Upgrade costs for all weapons and sidearms seem to be the same, regardless of which you are doing this with, so you can work on upgrading your favorite main weapon to +16. Total item cost to reach +16:

| This trophy is awarded for interacting with the character Egon, and giving him enough Gloom that he passes away. You’ll gain back double the amount of Gloom that you gave (up to a certain limit). This can be found southwest of the Castigator’s Keep Beacon, in the tower in the center of the castle area. You can give them whatever amount of Gloom that you want, but once you have given them a cumulative total of 10,000 he’ll pass away, giving you back 20,000 Gloom and awarding the trophy. | ||

No, You Still Can’t Win Take the Tar Golem to his Minimum Health |
![]() |
| Video – No, You Still Can’t Win
MISSABLE This trophy is awarded for reducing the tutorial boss “Tar Golem” to 0 health. This boss works like typical soulslike tutorial boss where you are intended to lose against it, and reducing it to 0 health will cause this to happen immediately regardless of your own current health. You only fight the Tar Golem once during a playthrough during the tutorial section, you don’t fight it again during New Game+, so you need to earn this trophy at the start of your playthrough. You can make a backup save beforehand (PS+ Cloud) to reload if needed, and if you feel you start doing poorly during the fight you can pause and quit to main menu, which will put you right before the Bone Gate when you reload the game. The Tar Golem is a relatively slow enemy, and you can reduce its health to zero by mostly taking it slow and chipping away at it. It will end the fight eventually if you take too long though, so you need to still actively keep attacking. The main thing to watch for are the big unblockable attacks, like when it jumps into the air and tries to smash the ground where you are standing. Always pay attention if it’s doing this attack, if you get hit by it directly it can instantly end the fight. The normal attacks you should aim to parry whenever possible, because you can get a large amount of damage into the boss if you stagger it and then perform a Riposte attack. If you are struggling you can slightly reduce the damage you take by defeating the miniboss Tainted Vestige which is in the area just before the Disciple’s Grotto Beacon. Defeating it drops a Burnt Effigy which when equipped in your passive item slot reduces the Fire damage you receive, which is what the Tar Golem primarily does. |

Sat Nav Find all Map Fragments |
![]() |
| This trophy is awarded for obtaining all 11 Map Fragments, which allow you to see the full overworld map. These are all marked from the start of the game with a crow symbol, corresponding to the location where Ruk is perched on top of a statue, with the Map Fragment in front of him. | ||

Seeking the Past Watch all Shell Memories |
![]() |
| This trophy is awarded for watching all 40 Shell Memories. There are 8 Shells with 5 Memories each (=40 total). Memories are unlocked by increasing the Bond Level of Shells by spending Glimpses at the Shellkeeper, with all Memories being available at Tier 4.
Increasing the Bond Level of a shell to max requires 27 Glimpses, which means to increase all 8 Shells to maximum you need a total of 216 Glimpses. With post launch updates it is possible to do this in first playthrough with some extra farming and resetting of Shell Bond level. The first thing to do is you can regain Glimpses is by using the Mether’s Severance item that Merrick in Marrow Keep sells for 5000 coin. He will sell 3 total per playthrough, so you can use this to reset 3 Shells. Note that if you switch back to the Shell you reset using this it will remove the memories from the menu when interacting with the Shellkeeper, so make sure to keep track of which Shells you have viewed and then reset this way. The second thing to do is farm Glimpses by using the Glimpse Stone Fragile Tarstone. These stones are equipped like normal Tarstones, but after defeating 20 enemies they break and award you 3 Glimpses. Merrick in Marrow Keep will sell a total of 13 per playthrough for 2500 coin each, and then you can farm more of them by going to the final area The Unfound Path, and running around the central pillar killing the Stonecrab enemies, as they drop more of the Glimpse Stone. |

Ascension Discover the secret of the Mango |
![]() |
| This trophy is awarded for finding the Mango, which is a secret item returning from the first game. To do this, you first need to find the item “Mether’s Flesh”, located in the Sanguine Caverns area. From the first Beacon Pulsing Caves, drop down the hole to progress, and at the very bottom instead of leaving the cave, turn around where there is some exploding bodies blocking an area. Past them there is a chest, and to the right of the chest is a pillar where the Mether’s Flesh item is sitting.
Now go to the Outskirts of Nochte Beacon, and in the cave that the river runs through you can find a cup in front of a large fish sitting in the water. Interact with it and use the Mether’s Flesh item. You will be transported into a Dungeon called Mango Sanctuary, where you can interact with the giant mango in the area to obtain a consumable Mango, unlocking the trophy. |

This is Not an Achievement Complete Mortal Shell II |
![]() |
| Story-related, cannot be missed.
This trophy is awarded when you trigger the ending of the game and move into NG+ after defeating the final boss. You do this by interacting with the Ova Siphon in Marrow Keep and choosing the “Send Ova” option. You can continue playing in your current playthrough until deciding to do this. |
||

Bag Holder You’ve mastered nothing and this is your reward. Pretty pointless, eh? |
![]() |
| MISSABLE
This trophy is awarded for completing the interaction chain with the character Baghead, which triggers a joke ending for the game. They can be found southwest of Gloomshade Grove Beacon, through the Bone Gates that lead to an area called Desolate Peak. Speak with him a couple of times, and he will prompt you to sit on the ground nearby with the other NPCs. After sitting down once, speak with him again and continue responding Yes to his questions, and he will ask you to bring him something. There are items you can pick up around the area, but you don’t want to give him any of them, as if you do you miss the trophy in the current playthrough. Sit down once more, then after sitting speak with him again and continue answering Yes to trigger the joke ending scene. You can skip the credits if you want, then reload your save to be back at the nearby Beacon. |

SethHulc says
Does skipping the prologue from the open beta save file pop those trophies or lock you out of them?
Gage says
It starts you when you pick up the first Ova and do the run to Marrow Keep, so you’d need to purposely do them on a different save slot if you skipped the tutorial with the beta save.
Raven says
You get locked out of the opening 2 trophies.
Start a separate ng
Confused Jedi says
Great guide as always,
3 times to beat whole game is a little too much grind for a souls game. Prefer a harder new game plus thropy to test skills instead of grinding the game. Why on earth they put that 🙁 …
Cruzader says
But atleast it sounds like the “grind” is beating dungeons and bosses again to obtaining glimpses. That sounds way more enjoyable than farming for proof of concords and vertebra shackles in Dark Souls 3.
Killbomb says
When fighting the Tar Golem, even if you lose and the cutscene starts playing, you can close the game from the dashboard and you’ll be back before the fight when reloading. Helpful if you don’t have PS+ for a save backup.
Sergio says
Was hoping for like a 5/10 honestly, I’m a little burned out on high difficulty games but hopefully it’s good and then I won’t mind. But having to go to ng++ is kind of annoying. So far the game feels great so hopefully it will be fun on subsequent runs
Adam says
By most accounts, this game is easier than the first, especially as you level up and end game enemies don’t fully scale. That said, you rate this a 7/10 but the original a 6. Is MS2’s hardest trophy that difficult? Thanks for your work with this!
Gage says
Currently with the changes made in the day one patch the scaling into NG+/NG++ is pretty crazy and the enemies/bosses are way more aggressive than anything in the first game by quite a bit.
Finch says
For the Peter’s perfect party: do we need to parry/perfect guard every single attack or just some of the headspins? Because i just saw a YouTuber getting the trophy, while he was getting hit left and right. Also he got hit by the spin attacks too, so i think for the trophy you need to parry/perfect guard one of each type of headspins. Some have 4 spins have some more. So i believe if you get one of each you should be fine.
Gage says
We’re still not 100% on what exactly it requires, and the dev had told one of us during the review period they were going to adjust it slightly. The person I talked to who got it only got it to work after they did the fight effectively perfectly, not just the two specific head spin moves which was what I had originally assumed was required.
Peter says
Is the 7/10 difficulty rating driven by having to beat the game 3 times, 2 glitches, and missable trophies etc.? Or is the game itself, including the bosses, actually difficult enough to warrant a 7?
Definer says
Such a shame about the Memories/Glimpses trophy requiring NG++. Would have been a nice list otherwise.
Ahmed says
does the slayer seal disable trophies ? i found this item in the beta and that was mentioned in the item description
Gage says
Yes, picking it up is fine, but if you equip it then it disables trophies on the current save slot.
Сони_мальчик says
Peter’s Perfect Parry
Perfect Guard each one of The Nameless Captive’s headspins using the Untarnished Seal
Can you hit him? Or is it only parrying and the subsequent counterattack?
Jordan says
So for Peter’s Perfect Parry. The fight does NOT have to be flawless but the boss has 4 (could be 3) different ‘headspin’ moves, you have to perfect parry all 4 (3) of these moves at least once during the fight, however he only does one of the ‘headspin’ moves after you push into his second phase (it’s the move with like 9 spins) If you miss this after the phase switch, reset. He’ll also do either 1 or 2 unique headspins in phase 2.
As far as I could gather it’s 1 headspin in the first phase, 2nd headspin after the phase switch and then 2 (or 1) unique headspins in the 2nd phase. My achievement popped mid fight after hitting all the parries.
Sergio says
Nope, just got it. Only managed to get the parries right on the attack shown by powerpyx and that’s when I got it. I didn’t party at all outside of that as to not increase his stagger bar to much before attempting to parry the attack needed
Mr.T says
Thanks for the guide
I almost missed out on the stoned trophie phew…
Pretty cool game
Gabriele says
It’s a 6 out of 10 now? What changed?
Gage says
Original rating was because we had thought the parry trophy required doing most of the fight, but it now only requires one specific attack one time. (this may have been changed with the day one patch, but either way it’s slightly easier than I originally expected)
Danny says
Are the 3 missable achievements mentioned the only missable ones? What about npc quests like the frog and baghead?
Holden says
Thanks for the guide. Very helpful. But I would be careful about the advice to wait to attempt Peter’s Perfect Parry. I saved him for last out of the first 6 main bosses and when I fought him he went from an empty stagger bar to fully staggered on the 4th parry out of the 7-hit spin attack. I tried switching shells and using no SP points but it still happened. But I wonder if general character level being too high is an issue.
M says
Is it possible to use backup save to view all of the memories in 1 playthrough?
Revolver says
No because the trophy requires you to see all memories from each shell. Reverting to a save via PS+ would invalidate the previous progress. This method would only work of there were individual trophies tied to each characters memories (An individual trophy for viewing all of Proximas memories). Since you also can’t respect glimpse once they are used the only option is another full playthrough.
DrejzLV says
Does the recent patch change anything trophy-wise?
FM says
Guys, is it important not to skip prologue for two glimpses? Im on my platinum walkthrough.
Stoph says
Wondering the same thing. Also, I equipped the slayer seal in the beta, but I’m assuming that doesn’t carry over into the save file prologue skip? That’s technically a different save file, correct? Does anyone know the answer to this? Maybe it’s best to just start over and forget the skip?
FM says
Well, DON’T SKIP THE PROLOGUE!!!
I cant get trophy Bring my Ova back to me because i skipped it.
Stoph says
You CAN skip the prologue. Just start a new save, get those early missable trophies out of the way, then get back to your previous save, or start a new save, depending on where you’re at. Not sure why you’re screaming.
MaaXz says
You can revisit all the collected Shells at night to get Glimpses. Lazlo and Genessa provide 2 each, making 10 in total.
Liquidocelot says
Well, Seeking the past didn’t pop for me, the tracker says 38/40 But I watched all memories and there is no exclamation mark left, pretty sure I’m doomed now…
I still can’t fathom how many games has that kind of issue in 2026 when it almost never happened during the PS3/PS4 era
Gediminas says
maybe try to relaunch the game and rewatch all memories?
us_chrono says
if you backup the save, maybe you get stuck like i am, but im going forward to the my next 3rd run now, missing somes glimsp
Stuart says
Might want to tag Stoned as bugged. Lots of people have issue with Shattering Stone.
The chest is already open and empty and no Tarstone…
It is the only one I need and I don’t have the trophy…devs are aware at least…
Stuart says
Oh my bad, noticed it is. Hope they fix soon…
Gediminas says
i just restarted the game just after the dungeon and trophy popped for me.
i still don’t have the tarstone but at least it popped.
Ashley Shenton says
theres a few bugged trophies, seems like the beacon trophy might be bugged to, “so fresh so clean” cleansed every beacon and nothing, stuck at 97%, im hoping it pops on ng+
Angormatore says
Also have this bug. Stuck at 97. My beacon is the Scholar-Prince’s Chamber beacon. I go to it and it has the option to enter to cleanse it, but I go in and all the ovum are gone and the only option in there it to leave. Hoping it pops in NG+ for me as well
Amigdala says
Seeking the past trophy bugged , the counter is not going up
lithium462 says
PC patch just dropped which will make this a single playthrough plat once it comes to consoles.
Bukhlef says
The new update won’t require 2 playthrow for glimpse.
Teg says
Hi! Will the guide be updated to reflect today’s update?
Nathan says
Seeing the new patch coming, has this fixed alot of the trophy bugs? Has it affected overall difficulty now with non finite resources?
King Amanj says
With Upcoming Update (Currently Available On PC) Consoles later*
this Platinum Should be doable in 1 Playthrough because in the new update you can refund the glimpse! W devs!
Nisata86 says
Thats awesome, i wonder when will it arrives on ps, bored of waiting
HENRIQUE says
Seeking the Past bugged te 02/09/2026, make all 40 but show just 39/40
naruto-dark says
It’s stuck at 39/40 for me too, as well as for a friend. I’m going to try re-watching everything to see if it unblocks.
