A Plague Tale: Innocence - Chapter 13 Penance Walkthrough

Penance is Chapter 13 in A Plague Tale: Innocence. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of Chapter 13 “Penance”.

Find Hugo

The following morning, Hugo is nowhere to be found and Amicia goes on a desperate hunt to find out where he could possibly be. As Amicia looks for her little brother, she trips into a pit and loses consciousness. What starts now is a playable nightmarish sequence during which Amicia desperately looks for Hugo, but is eye-witness to her fears and guilts taking shape. Walk through the pit until you enter the borders of a town.

At the end of it is Clervie waiting for you, who warns Amicia that a child never runs away without a reason.

Before heading through the gate she opens up for us, we need to make a brief detour for a well-hidden collectible (Curiosity 23 – Rag Doll). Crouch under the wooden opening on your left to find the collectible sitting on a bench.

Now, exit the house and cross the gate to find yourself back in Laurentius’s farm infested with rat-slaughtered pigs. Walk along the main path to come across Laurentius.

Enter his house and you’ll find yourself at de Rune’s estate quarters. Here you’ll find Beatrice who blames you for not telling Hugo the truth and that Hugo doesn’t need Amicia any longer. Amicia, reluctant to believe Beatrice, still wants to see him.

Enter Hugo’s quarters, but before speaking to him we need to head inside the room on the right for another collectible (Curiosity 24 – Knight Figurine). The collectible is on the desk. Grab it and then interact with Hugo by the tent.

Hugo’s understandably mad at Amicia for not telling him the truth about Beatrice.

After Hugo pushes you, you’ll spawn back in the pit. Climb the ledge and walk forward until you see two guards.

Dispose of them by using rocks and then approach the cage to free Hugo.

After freeing Hugo, we need to grab one last collectible (Herbarium 10 – Daffodil) found between two trees as shown in the picture below.

Next, Hugo will run away, sure of having heard Beatrice calling from afar. Follow him under the trunk and keep chasing him until you’re back at the estate gardens.
