Great Runes in Elden Ring are obtained from the 6 Shard Bearers, who are the main bosses in the game. The first Great Rune is dropped by Godrick the Grafted. The main goal in Elden Ring is to get and restore all of the Great Runes.
The game doesn’t tell you what to do with the Great Runes. So here’s a step by step guide.
Where to Bring Godrick’s Great Rune
Godrick’s Great Runes must be restored at the Divine Tower of Limgrave. To get there, take the following path:
In Stormveil Castle, just before the Godrick main boss, there’s a site of grace called Liftside Chamber. From there head south-east through the castle courtyard where lots of enemies are at at ballistas. Follow the path, then enter the building on the left that leads to the Limgrave Tower Bridge site of grace. Reach the end of the bridge (you can ignore the 3 giants on the bridge) and touch the portal at the end. This will warp you to the very end of the bridge at the tall tower. Enter the tower and step on the elevator to get to the top. Activate the Divine Tower of Limgrave site of grace and go to the rooftop. There you can find an interaction point to restore the Great Runes.
Where to Bring Rennala’s Great Rune?
It appears this rune cannot be restored. It just allows you to talk to Rennala to respec your character. You can bring her “Remembrance of the Full Moon Queen” to Finger Reader Enia at Roundtable Hold to get get a reward (Carian Regal Scepter).
Where to Bring Radahn’s Great Rune?
Radahn’s Great Rune must be brought to the Divine Tower of Caelid in the north-west of Caelid, Dragonbarrow sub-region. You must drop down to a big tree root, then jump over to a ledge on the tower wall just before an enemy. Then climb up the ladder behind the enemy. Keep climbing the ladders out the other wall until you reach the elevator inside that takes you to the tower top where you can restore the rune.
Where to Bring Morgott’s Great Rune?
From the “Avenue Balcony” site of grace (center of Leyndell, Royal Capital), head to the very east of the town and open the big gate there. This leads to an elevator, use it to get to the upper walls to the south-east of the Royal Capital. Follow the walls to the very end and you’ll find the Divine Tower of East Altus. There will be a boss fight along the way against two “Fell Twins”, but after defeating them you will be at the entrance of the divine tower and just need to use the elevator to reach the top. On the rooftop you can restore the rune.
Where to Bring Rykard’s Great Rune?
Go to Sealed Tunnel, outside the west walls of the Royal Capital (accessed through water area, ride down the path east of Outer Wall Phantom Tree site of grace). Make your way through the tunnel to find the Divine Tower of West Altus at the end. There are several illusionary walls throughout the tunnel that you must hit to make them disappear.
Where to Bring Morgott’s Great Rune?
You need to bring Morgott’s Great Rune to the Divine Tower of East Altus. From the Forbidden Lands site of grace use the elevator up, then go to the end of the castle walls to reach it.
Where to Bring Malenia’s Great Rune?
You need to bring Malenia’s Great Rune to Malenia’s Divine Tower. It’s reachable through the Divine Bridge Site of Grace in the Capital, a teleporter will be on the left side of the area with the Golem right in front of the Site of Grace.
What to do with Restored Runes?
After restoring a Great Rune, you can equip it at a site of grace in the menu called “Great Runes”. For example, Godrick’s Great Rune raises all your attributes. Furthermore, you can return to the Roundtable Hold (Table of Lost Grace), in the bottom left corner of the map, and some new NPCs and merchants should spawn after restoring the first rune. It’s good to check their inventories to buy new powerful items. You can also give the “Remembrance” item of each boss to Finger Reader Enia at the Roundtable Hold for a reward.
