Homecoming is the third main quest in Kingdom Come Deliverance (KCD). This walkthrough will guide you through all the steps of the Homecoming quest.
Triggers automatically after completing Run! Main Quest.
Find your parents
After escaping the Talmberg Castle you will automatically get a cutscene on your way back to Skalitz. This cutscene will trigger the Homecoming quest.
Head back to Skalitz. Enter through the gate to the east of town from where the invaders attacked earlier (when you zoom in on the map it’s the entrance gate on the right side of Skalitz). Go uphill and you’ll find the bodies of your parents on the street, where you saw them die in the cutscene during “Unexpected Visit” main quest.
Find a spade
The only tricky part of the Homecoming quest is finding the spade. The game doesn’t show you waypoints for the spade location.
You can find the spade by listening for a dog barking. When you look from the entrance gate to the bodies of your parents uphill, the dog will be on the right side between some houses. As you approach you’ll see a villager trying to loot the body of the dog’s master. Talk to the guy. If things don’t go your way you will have to fight him for it. It’s just a quick fist fight. When you win, the guy runs away and you can find the spade sticking in the ground near the dog. Pick up this spade to advance.
Dig a Grave under the linden tree
Go uphill to your house and dig a grave under the big tree there. You’ll get a cutscene. There’s a short fight sequence against a bandit called “Runt” but it’s unwinnable. He will always defeat you, there’s no way for you to win this fight. Afterwards there’s a long cutscene and you wake up in another town called Rattay. The Homecoming quest ends here and transitions into the “Awakening” main quest.

There is a chest full of expensive things across the bridge to a fortified home. unlocked. Just cross the bridge before you get to the castle, near where you escaped the cumons in Run.
During the fight the guy cant seem to damage me, what do i do?
Probably a bug, reloading a previous save should fix it (otherwise the hardcore fix is to reinstall the game).
how do i dig the hole under the tree i just walk up to the tree and the shovel can’t do anything its just sitting in my inventory
