Zelda Tears of the Kingdom - The Broken Slate Walkthrough

The Broken Slate is a Main Quest in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of The Broken Slate story mission.

Quest Info: When you spoke with historian Jiahto, he told you he discovered an old Zora slate. There is information related to the sky written there, but the slate is broken and the full meaning is unclear. This could be a clue to finding Princess Zelda. There must be some way to decipher it.

This quest starts automatically during Main Quest: Sidon of the Zora, after talking to Jiahto at Toto Lake.

Find and Reconstruct the Broken Slate

The broken slate is to the right of the quest giver, outside the little cave he’s in, on the rocks around the lake. Activate Ultrahand ability to see it glowing orange.

It’s covered by sludge. To remove it, open your inventory > select a Splash Fruit > click “Hold” > to return to game > to drop it on the sludge covering the Broken Slate. Hit the fruit and it will wash away the sludge. You can find Splash Fruits on the small trees around the lake here.

Now pick up the Broken Slate with Ultrahand.

Place it on the wall to the left of the quest giver.

The quest ends immediately after placing it on the wall. It will trigger the next Main Quest Clues to the Sky. Now is also a good time to make a quick detour to do Main Quest Restoring the Zora Armor.
