Restoring the Zora Armor is a Main Quest in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the Restoring the Zora Armor story mission.
Requirement: Finished Main Quest: The Broken Slate, find the quest giver in the open world (not marked on map, quest doesn’t start automatically)
Reward: Zora Armor (can swim up waterfalls)
Quest Info: If you wear the Zora armor, you can swim up waterfalls. Yona is certain this will be a useful tool for your adventure. However, it seems an elusive fish called the ancient arowana is needed to finish repairing the Zora armor. If you find an ancient arowana, you should bring it to Yona.
Objectives:
- Find Ancient Arowana
- Return to Yona
Starting Location: Restoring the Zora Armor
Unlike other main quests, this one won’t trigger automatically and it’s not marked on the map. The quest starts in Lanayru (east region) > Zora’s Domain. You first go there as part of Main Quest: Regional Phenomena. The quest itself will become available a little later, I did it after Main Quest: The Broken Slate, but it might be available sooner. Talk to Yona, she’s upstairs in Zora’s Domain, just beneath the throne room. She’s the green-colored character. She offers to repair your Zora Armor if you can find an Ancient Arowana fish for her. That’s the only objective of this quest.
Find Ancient Arowana
Ancient Arowana can be found in various places. They are fish found in clean water. Jump into the water and press to catch one of these.
Ancient Arowana Location #1
Can be found in the fountain on Shatterback Point, east of Zora’s Domain. It’s a fountain upstairs from Mipha Court on Ploymus Mountain. You go there during Main Quest: Sidon of the Zora to talk to Sidon. If you’ve already activated the Ihen-a Shrine there, you can use fast travel. Jump into the fountain and pick up a fish.
If you haven’t been there before, you have to take the long way around.
The map below outlines the recommended path in red. We’ll go through the key points individually below.
Exit Zora’s Domain through the bridge going east. Keep heading east until you reach a wall with stairs in it. Go up those stairs.
At the top of the stairs, keep walking east alongside the mountain wall. Go underneath Shatterback Point towards Tal Tal Peak. There the mountain walls aren’t so steep and can be climbed more easily, see the location below:
From Tal Tal Peak, head northwest uphill to Mipha Court. You can mostly walk uphill, just the last section needs to be climbed.
Then go upstairs to the fountain and catch the fish from the water around the fountain.
Ancient Arowana Location #2
You can also find this fish on Great Sky Island. It swims around the bottom of the waterfall in the southwest of Great Sky Island. You might already have some in your inventory if you caught them earlier in the game and didn’t consume them yet.
Return to Yona
After catching at least one Ancient Arowana, return to the quest giver Yona where the quest started. Give her the fish and she will give you the Zora Armor. When equipped, it allows you to swim up waterfalls. Pretty useful to get around this region more easily.
This finishes Restoring the Zora Armor Main Quest in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
Next Quest: Sidon of the Zora / The Broken Slate / Clues to the Sky
