Clues to the Sky is a Main Quest in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the Clues to the Sky story mission.
Requirement: Automatically triggered after finishing Main Quest: The Broken Slate
Reward: None
Quest Info: “Stand upon the land of the sky fish, and behold its lofty view. Among the floating rocks you see, a droplet waits for you. Through this droplet shoot an arrow with the mark of the king. Do this task, and you shall reveal a most wondrous thing”. You deciphered a clue for finding the watery bridge. Jiahto suggests speaking with King Dorephan about the mark.
Objectives:
- Find King Dorephan
- Talk to Sidon
- Find Land of the Sky Fish
Starting Location: Clues to the Sky
This quest starts automatically at Toto Lake after finishing Main Quest: The Broken Slate. You are given a riddle at the end of the previous quest and must now find the clues.
Find King Dorephan
The game will put a quest marker at the cave in Toto Lake, but this is misleading as King Dorephan isn’t found there. We must find him ourselves, the game doesn’t mark his location.
Tip: now is also a good time to do Main Quest: Restoring the Zora Armor, if you haven’t already. It unlocks a new armor that allows you to swim up rivers and it’s mandatory for later in Sidon’s questline.
First, head back to Zora’s Domain. Go upstairs into the throne room. There will be some kids playing in front of the throne. They will send you away when you approach. You must climb the side of the throne to get behind them.
Then approach the kids from behind and the Listen prompt will come up.
Listen to them to get clues to King Dorephan’s location. They reveal that he’s in a cave behind a waterfall between Ploymus Mountain and Zora’s domain.
King Dorephan’s location is at Lulu Lake. Drop down into the cave next to the waterfall. You can glide to Lulu Lake from Ihen-a Shrine.
After dropping down the cave you will reach Pristine Sanctum. Talk to King Dorephan on his throne here. He will give you 5x King’s Scale, which you need for the last step of this quest.
Talk to Sidon
Head back to Sidon at Mipha Court, in the same place where you spoke to him earlier during Sidon of the Zora. Talk to him to share your findings so far.
He will tell you to investigate the Land of the Sky Fish. We’ll go there next.
Find Land of the Sky Fish
Sky Fish Island is a sky island east of Mipha Court. After talking to Sidon you can already see it behind him, the flying island with a brown waterfall dropping down its “mouth”. On the world map press and it will look like the shape of a fish.
Go there and look up in the sky for falling rocks that leave behind a green trail.
Go to where one such rock lands (it changes where exactly the next one will drop but it’s always near the flying island). Stand on the fallen rock and use Recall ability on it. This will turn back time and raises the rock back in the air, with you on it. When it reaches the top, jump off and glide over onto the Sky Fish Island (actually called Floating Scales Island on map).
Stand at the top of this island, in the middle of it. Look southwest and you will see floating rocks that form the shape of a “tear” or “raindrop” when looking from the correct angle. You need to walk around a bit until the rocks line up perfectly.
Now aim your bow with > hold to attach something to your arrow > to select King’s Scale from the item wheel to attach it to the arrow > shoot the arrow through the raindrop shape.
This will trigger a cutscene and ends the quest right there. If you ran out of King’s Scales you can return to King Dorephan to get more.
This concludes the Clues to the Sky Main Quest in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
