Hogwarts Legacy Portrait in a Pickle Walkthrough

Portrait in a Pickle is a Side Quest in Hogwarts Legacy. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the Portrait in a Pickle side mission.

Location: Hogwarts -> The Library Annex -> Library
Quest Giver: Ferdinand Octavius Pratt
Quest Level: Level 5
Requirement: Having Finished Main Quest: In the Shadow of the Mountain
Reward: Conjuration Spellcraft, 180XP
Mission Info: A portrait in the back of the library is apparently very upset. It might be worth looking into.

Objectives:

Speak to the portrait in the back of the library
Talk to Astoria Crickett at the Three Broomsticks
Find the ruins where Ferdinand’s other frame is being held
Find and speak with Ferdinand in the ruins
Take Ferdinand’s frame to the Three Broomsticks or the Hog’s Head Inn

Starting Location: Portrait in a Pickle

Speak to the portrait in the back of the library

Just talk to the portrait in the library, he wants you to get back his second frame.

Talk to Astoria Crickett at the Three Broomsticks

Just follow the quest marker to the Three Broomsticks and talk to Astoria.

Find the ruins where Ferdinand’s other frame is being held

The frame is located in the ruins on the south side of the map.

Find and speak with Ferdinand in the ruins

Enter the ruins. Some enemies may be roaming here but you can cast Disillusionment to sneak past them. Look for a staircase going down next to the merlin trial.

Go down the stairs next to the merlin trial. There will be a Level 2 door lock blocking the path. To open it you need to find 9 Demiguise Statues to upgrade Alohomora Spell to Level 2. See All Demiguise Locations. The path behind the gate leads to Ferdinand’s portrait frame, interact with it.
