Back in the Day is the 21st main story quest in Final Fantasy 16 (XVI) and a subquest of Holding On. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the Back in the Daymain scenario chapter.
- Starting Location: Eastpool
- Requirement: Occurs during Holding On
- Reward: 40 XP, 100 AP, 1200 Gil, 10 Magicked Ash, 1 Meteorite
- Quest Info: The Mayor of Eastpool asks Clive to meet with an elderly Bearer who resides in his village – a former loyal servant of Clive’s father, Archduke Elwin.
Clive meets with the elderly Bearer, who mistakes him for his father. Rather than dispelling his fantasy, Clive plays along with it, that the Bearer might be granted a little of the happiness he had been long denied.
Objectives:
- Look for the old man by the well
- Speak with the villagers 0/2
- Find the old man
- Slay the slavering beasts
Look for the old man by the well
The mayor wants Clive to speak with one of the older Bearers in town, who normally is by the well. Head back into the middle of the area near where it is marked.
Speak with the villagers 0/2
You need to find him now, so speak with the two marked villagers nearby.
The second one mentions that he is normally cared for by the one who handles the stables. Head back near the entrance of town to find him.
Find the old man
You’ll need to head back out of town to keep searching for him, so follow the objective south out of town, and you’ll be directed down a dead end path past the field of crops.
Slay the slavering beasts
When you reach him, you’ll be attacked by sets of monsters. Nothing out of the ordinary here, you’ve dealt with similar before. The first set will be flying enemies, followed by a group of wolves.
After all the enemies are dealt with there will be some scenes with the man, and you’ll be automatically returned to town, completing the subquest.
