Introduction
Welcome to the Doom The Dark Ages Trophy Guide! The Dark Ages features a completion-based trophy list, similar to Doom Eternal. You will need to find almost all collectibles. The main task is to fully upgrade all weapons to unlock the mastery challenges, and fully upgrade the shield/runes/melee for the Berserker trophy. Upgrades cost Gold, Rubies, and Wraithstones, which are Collectibles found throughout the levels. You must collect everything in every chapter, except Weapon Skins and Secrets which aren’t needed for trophies. There are also 5 Rubies and 632 Gold more than you need. If you miss a few of those items it’s fine. Of everything else 100% completion is required, including mission challenges. When a chapter has a challenge you can pin it from the challenge menu, these are short combat tasks or for finding collectibles. Everything can be done on the lowest difficulty and you can use all modifiers and accessibility settings. To make it even easier you can set player damage to 50% (take half damage) and damage dealt to demons to 1000% (do x10 more damage). You can also enable auto-sprint and increase the game speed to save time. All chapters can be 100% completed on the first playthrough. Nothing is missable thanks to Chapter Select.
Step 1: 100% Completion Playthrough [20 Hours]
Simply follow the Doom: The Dark Ages Collectible Guide to get all Collectibles and Trophies in a single playthrough. The only things not needed for trophies are Weapon Skins and Secrets. You will need the Gold and Rubies too, they are needed to fully upgrade all weapons for Gunpletionist and shield/runes/melee for
Gunpletionist and shield/runes/melee for Berserker. Collectibles get marked on the map when nearby, and there’s also a collectible counter on the map and in Chapter Select. Go for 100% completion on every chapter and you’ll get all trophies automatically. If you missed anything you can replay the chapters.

BUG WARNINGS:
-   Berserker for buying all Shield/Rune/Melee Upgrades can glitch if you buy upgrades across different chapters. A confirmed workaround is to keep ALL of your Gold/Rubies until you can buy everything in one go (5925 Gold + 33 Rubies). If you have PS+ you can also make a cloud save backup. Then buy completely all upgrades at the same Sentinel Shrine in one go and it should unlock the trophy correctly (I bought everything at the final Sentinel Shrine in Chapter 22 and it unlocked fine). At the first Sentinel Shrine in Chapter 2, you can quit out of the menu to avoid buying anything when the game gives a tutorial for it. It doesn’t always bug out even if you buy upgrades across different chapters, but if it bugs then you will need to delete the save and redo everything it in a new game from scratch. If you made a PS+ cloud save you can also try reinstalling the game, restoring save, and buy everything again from your backup save. - Demonic Essences can bug out if you restart checkpoint after getting an Essence, before reaching the next checkpoint. Then getting the Essence again won’t increase the counter on the map and chapter select (it gets stuck at 0/1 collected). It’s unclear if this also voids the trophies for it, as long as your stat increased you may still be able to pop the trophy but even when replaying chapters and recollecting, the counter will stay stuck at 0/1 collected. The workaround is to not restart checkpoints so that this doesn’t happen. As a precaution you can make a PS+ backup save at the start of every chapter, then check after the chapter check that all collectible counters increased correctly.
Step 2: Farm Weapon Masteries [2 Hours]
If you opted to not buy weapon upgrades until the final shrine in Chapter 22, then all you’ll have left is to farm the weapon mastery challenges. These unlock after fully upgrading the weapons. They are quick combat tasks. All of them can be farmed quickly in the first combat encounter of Chapter 20. There you have a shielded miniboss that doesn’t die unless you melee it, and it keeps spawning fodder demons infinitely. There are also many big demons in this encounter which are needed for some challenges. You can adjust the damage multiplier in the game settings (to either 50% or 1000%), this applies instantly without restarting the checkpoint and makes challenges easier. Refer to Weapon Mastery Challenges Guide.

| | Upgraded Acquire your first weapon upgrade. | |
| Weapon Upgrades are bought from the green Sentinel Shrines in exchange for Gold. Sentinel Shrines are found throughout the game and marked on the map. You will visit the first shrine automatically as part of a tutorial in Chapter 3 and the game wants you to buy an upgrade at this point. Refer to Gunpletionist for all weapon upgrades. | ||
| | Fully Loaded Complete the Mastery Challenge for a single weapon. | |
| See  Gunpletionist. | ||
| | Gunpletionist Complete the Mastery Challenge for all weapons. | |
| First, you must fully upgrade a weapon to unlock its Mastery Challenge. There are 11 weapons total that have mastery challenges (all except the Crossbow). You can buy the upgrades at green Sentinel Shrines, which are always on the main path and marked by a green icon on the map. Upgrades cost Gold, Rubies, and 1 Wraithstone for the final upgrade on each weapon. The earliest you can upgrade all weapons is in the final chapter (Chapter 22: Reckoning) at the last Sentinel Shrine, as that’s when you find the last Wraithstone. You will get all required materials by following Doom: The Dark Ages Collectible Guide. After fully upgrading a weapon you can track the mastery challenge by pressing Touchpad > Challenges > Mastery challenges are little combat tasks that require dealing damage or doing kills in a specific way. A quick farming spot is the first combat encounter in Chapter 20: Resurrection. There you have a shielded miniboss which doesn’t die until you melee it, and it spawns fodder demons infinitely. There are many large demons in this encounter and it’s at the very start of the chapter. You can also restart the checkpoint to farm the challenges and can adjust the damage dealt to demons in the game settings. Some challenges are easier when you set the damage output to 50% and some go faster when bumping it to 1000%. Mastery Challenges (in order of weapons menu): Combat Shotgun: Barrel Buster – Hit demons with every pellet from Combat Shotgun shots (x150) In Settings > Difficulty set “Damage to Demons = 50%” so they can take more hits before dying. Get up close to large demons with high health and shoot them from point-blank range so all pellets hit the enemy. It’s most easily farmed in red miniboss encounters with an enemy that gives a rune at the end, these can’t die if you don’t do a melee hit, so you can keep shooting and they spawn more fodder demons infinitely for you to recharge ammo. The first encounter in Chapter 20 works well (he is shielded which also counts). Equip the upgrade “Tune-Up” to shoot 3 times in a row to make this go faster. Super Shotgun: Super Barrel Stuffer – Hit demons with every pellet from Super Shotgun shots (x50) See strategy for regular Combat Shotgun, the same works for this. Shredder: Burster – Cause secondary Pincushion or Ricochet damage to demons with the Rail Spike Shredder (x100) In Settings > Difficulty set “Damage to Demons = 50%”. For the Shredder equip the upgrade “Pincushion”. Shoot big demons with high health until they glow yellow, then throw your shield to cause an explosion, each enemy hit by it counts towards this. By lowering the damage you can farm it multiple times on the same demon before it dies. There are many big demons in the first Chapter 20 encounter. Alternatively, you can also equip the Ricochet upgrade, then throw the shield so it gets stuck in a big demon, then shoot that demon to ricochet bullets at surrounding enemies. Impaler: Acupuncture – Regenerate your melee charges with the Lobotomy bonus head shots from the Rail Spike Impaler (x100) For the Impaler equip the “Chronospike” upgrade, this slow down time when holding Accelerator: Redline – Cause Overload or Heatblast damage to demons with the Plasma Rifle Accelerator (x1000) You can farm this in about 3 minutes in the first encounter of Chapter 20. For the Accelerator equip the upgrades “Modulator” + “Mega Cell”. In Settings > Difficulty set “Damage to Demons = 1000%”. Now kill demons until the shield of the miniboss goes down and damage it until it glows purple. This miniboss can’t die if you don’t melee it and keeps spawning fodder demons infinitely. Get full ammo with the Accelerator, then keep shooting at the purple glowing miniboss, after your weapon starts glowing red the Accelerator goes into “Overload” and each shot will increase the counter. When you run out of ammo kill the fodder demons and shoot the miniboss again. It takes around 50 shots to overcharge, and you have 250 ammo max (if you got all demonic essences), so you can get around 200 overcharged hits per cycle. With Modulator + Mega Cell equipped it goes faster as these increase the rate of fire and the overcharge lasts longer. Cycler: Thermal Runaway – Cause Overloaded or Lightning Arc damage to demons with the Plasma Rifle Cycler (x500) In Settings > Difficulty set “Damage to Demons = 200%”, this is the sweet spot where large demons survive long enough to build up a lightning arc and still die fast enough. It can be farmed very quickly in the first Chapter 20 encounter. Shoot large demons with the Cycler until they glow purple, then kill them to cause a lightning explosion. Your Cycler will now glow and shoot red projectiles. This effect only lasts a few seconds, each hit you land with the red overloaded projectiles counts towards the challenge. It’s best to hit the shielded miniboss as it can’t die. Keep the other large demons to make them glow purple and kill them to trigger the overloaded effect, shoot the shielded boss until the effect runs out, rinse and repeat. If all large demons died you can restart checkpoint. The small demons die too fast before they can build up a purple glow. Pulverizer: Hunter – Cause Charged damage to demons with the Skullcrusher Pulverizer (x250) In Settings > Difficulty set “Damage to Demons = 1000%”. Each time you kill a demon you build up charge for the Pulverizer, so by dealing x10 damage it goes much faster. You can quickly farm it in the first red combat encounter of Chapter 20, just don’t kill the shielded miniboss and it will keep spawning fodder demons infinitely. It counts as “charged” when your weapon glows yellow and your movement speed increases, then just keep shooting. Hits on the shielded miniboss count too. You can also restart checkpoint to respawn all enemies. Ravager: Gatherer – Gather Skullcrusher ammo by damaging demons with the Supplier equipped Ravager (x100) Equip the Ravager with the “Ignition” upgrade, this makes it reach maximum fire rate faster. Keep shooting until the weapon glows blue (= max fire rate). Then it will drop ammo every few seconds when you hit enemies, effectively allowing you to shoot infinitely as it refills your ammo while you shoot. You have to pick up the little blue ammo drops, so get close to the enemies. It works best on big demons with a lot of health. It’s easy to farm in the first Chapter 20 encounter, there are many Mancubus and other large demons there. In Settings > Difficulty set “Damage to Demons = 50%”, then the enemies can take more hits. Stand directly in front of a large demon and keep shooting at it, every few seconds the counter for this challenge will go up as the demon drops ammo (while your Ravager glows blue). It only works when the enemy has no armor and takes health damage. Small enemies also drop ammo but it’s less reliable than shooting the same big enemy repeatedly. Chainshot: Reverberation – Cause explosive Cosmic Breach damage to demons with fully charged Chainshot Reaver impacts (x100) You can farm this in about 2 minutes in the first Chapter 20 encounter. In Settings > Difficulty set “Damage to Demons = 50%”. With the Chainshot hold Grenade Launcher: Clusterfun – Cause secondary Fragment and Cataclysm damage to demons with the Grenade Launcher cluster grenades (x100) In Settings > Difficulty set “Damage to Demons = 50%”. You can farm this in about 60 seconds in the first enemy encounter of Chapter 20. Just keep hitting the same big demon repeatedly with grenades, every second hit will drop cluster grenades that damage surrounding enemies. There’s an armored Mancubus on this encounter which works perfectly for it. By setting damage to 50% you can land more hits before the enemies die. Rocket Launcher: Engorge – Heal yourself with the Cannibalism upgrade from close range blasts of the Rocket Launcher (x50) In Settings > Difficulty set “Damage to Demons = 50%”. Parry green projectiles with | ||

Thank you for the trophy guide. I’m glad the multiplayer has been removed, so that I don’t have to deal with those trophies, but I’ll definitely wait for the glitched trophies to be sorted out before I end up playing this eventually.
Max says
Man that sucks about the upgrade trophy bug? Have you reported it to the devs/heard anything about it being patched?
Mike says
They will patch it, obviously.
Zachary Robertson says
I didn’t realize the trophy was bugged until chapter 4 and I bought 1 upgrade for everything am I cooked?
PowerPyx says
Maybe, maybe not. It’s random if it’ll glitch or not. For half the people I know it glitched, for other half it unlocked fine. You won’t know till you buy your last upgrade. Rebuying everything for Berserker could be done by Chapter 14 if you don’t spend anything on weapons. So you could make a backup, try buying everything then, see if it pops. If not might as well start new game.
NoHeroes94 says
So you have to play the entire game without ever upgrading your weapons until the very end? Presume accessibility makes that not difficult? Sucks though.
PowerPyx says
Buying weapon upgrades should be fine, as they’re not related to Berserker trophy (it’s for shield/rune/melee upgrades specifically).
If you play with damage modifiers the game is so easy that upgrades don’t matter.
Lars says
How much of the experience and fun gets Lost if you wait and upgrade everything for Berserker trophy? Does it gets very hard if you want to play on normal difficulty?
And can you upgrade all weapons? That Trophy dont glitch?
Do you use both gold and Rubys to upgrade weapons and Shields?
Snake2410 says
I’m testing something in my playthrough, because I forgot to make a save back up before buying the first shield upgrade. I’m leaving the last upgrade for each of the three needed for Berserker until I have enough to buy all three final upgrades at once, after backing up my save. We’ll see what happens. If I need to do a second playthrough saving upgrades until the end, then I guess I do.
I’m also watching the milestones closely to see if they bug and auto complete early, because I’d read that happening and it’s suspected it has something to do with the bug. I’ll update, but someone might have an answer before me.
EarthBear says
Thank you for your service, please let us know! I put the game on hold until I hear more about this bug, ain’t no way am I playing the entire game with no upgrades!

bro come on update us on this..

I just platted the game doing the same thing. Worked for me!

I’m bummed by the difficulty of this platinum. Platinum for prior Dooms meant something. Now it’s easier and shorter than beating an average souls like.
YourHeroChris says
Do you need a Microsoft account for this one?
PowerPyx says
No.
On PS5 there’s only an optional Bethesda.net linking feature in the extras menu but it’s not required to play the game. No Microsoft account linking requirement on PS5.
YourHeroChris says
Do you know if it will auto pop trophies if you earn the achievement on Xbox? Like Indiana Jones does.
Powerfrix says
Day one patch?

Hopefully they’re aware of the Berserker trophy being buggy/glitched
Axel says
I can confirm that the Berserker-Trophy is obtainable as follows:
I purchased multiple random upgrades during my first playthrough. In chapter 18 I had enough to upgrade everything left of Basis, Runes and Melee. I purchased the last upgrade of Basis, the four last upgrades of the Runes and the three last upgrades of Melee in one go at the same shrine. Slowly, I’ve waited for every text to disappear. I was online. Trophy popped
Reznorio25 says
Can anyone confirm if the Berserker trophy is still glitch as of today May 17? I’m on chapter 6, nightmare difficulty and it’s getting really hard not having shield and melee upgrades at this point
Faulkit28 says
Anyone having problems unlocking Gunpletionist trophy? Says I’ve completed all weapons mastery challenges, but nothing unlocked. Am I missing something? Used guide and nothing popped. Thanks for any help.
Faulkit28 says
Nevermind thanks.
dirtyriderella says
I’ve started and I’m in Chapter 4 now. I didn’t get 100% completion in each chapter. Do I need to replay the chapters after finishing the game, or can I just select the chapters and clean up the missables after my first playthrough?
PowerPyx says
You can replay them anytime, doesn’t matter if you replay them right away or after the story, either way is fine.
Alex The Wizard says
For Berserker, I created a new save and bought all upgrades at once, but trophy still did not pop. Sobbing tbh
xUND3RTAK3RxRKO says
Berserker is bugged for me too on Xbox anyone know what I should do?
EarthBear says
I would send in a bug report if it happened to me, they make a difference and being a big game with this affecting both consoles at least I assume they will roll out a fix before too long. Random example that gives me faith: Microsoft released a much smaller game Age of Mythology on PS5 a few months ago I played, and it launched with many broken trophies and 2 that were unobtainable. They fixed them all within a couple weeks after people (including myself) had reported it.
xHVTEx says
[PS5] I finished the game yesterday, unlocked everything, big thank you for the guide!
As for Berserker trophy – I upgraded the ranged weapons needed for Gunpletionist throught the game, so in different Chapters, and did the Weapon Mastery Challenges too, just left enough resources to upgrade all the melee weapons at once in the last Shrine in Chapter 22 and got the trophy, don’t know if this adds anything to the discussion.
prosperoust says
They mentioned on a livestream a day ago that they’re about to drop a patch, by or over the weekend, and brought up the Berserker trophy bug as something being address. So hopefully we can all play this safely soon!
xIronPonyx says
been almost a week now since I got 100% of the game except earning that BERSERKER trophy for the platinum… when the hell is this glitch ever going to get patched?
Phenie says
I think they overpatched Berserker.
I am on chapter 17 and as I started it today I unlocked Berserker even though I have not finished upgrading all the shield upgrades….
Snake2410 says
Berserker hasn’t been patched yet. That’s been known to happen to some players, ever since launch. The patch for it should be in the next patch. The previous patch from last week only address higher difficulty complaints and smaller bugs.
waheed1977 says
I also suffer from the same problem – even though I finished the game again and kept all the gold and rubies for the last stage, and it still did not appear
Snake2410 says
For the rocket launcher mastery challenge, you dont even need to damage an enemy for it to heal you. Just parry a green attack, then start shooting the floor. As long as you aren’t at full health, it’ll heal you and count towards the trophy. That’s how I did it.
Andi says
Berserker-Bug was Patched in the latest Update 1.004!

but how to make the trophy pop tho? i already bought everything. the solution shouldnt be to “start a new save file”

The Lore Nerd trophy is bugged for me and is the only trophy I’m missing. I confirmed that I have all 26 codex pages but I’m now locked out of getting the platinum.

I looked through the codex entries from within the game and found that the codex for The Siege Part 2 was missing, even though that mission said I found everything already. It seems that if you get collectibles via Chapter Select they may not register properly since that was the only mission I had to go back to get a codex for. I replayed the mission again and when I picked up the codex the second time the trophy popped and I got the platinum.
